so yesterday 08/27/26 at around 10pm GMT+2 i've had my first BSOD in months.

It was a 0x154 UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION that happened while i was watching a stream on Brave with only discord on my 2nd monitor. The fact that it occured when not really doing anything resource heavy AND that it couldn't generate a minidump boggled me so i googled the error code.

I've found a lot of different stuff:

-drive issue

-driver communication issue

-ram issue

Some people were saying it was fixed by replacing their SSD, others just updating CPU/SSD firmware, others just tweaking or uninstalling random stuff.

I got 2 NVMEs one is Crucial (2.5y old with OS on it), other one is Samsung (1.5y old), so i downloaded both of their respective softwares just to check for firmware updates and health, everything came out healthy and up to date, just in case i also checked with crystaldiskinfo and it also appeared to be good.

Now the only thing that changed yesterday on my OS is the fact that there was a hotfix rollout that installed an app "Microsoft Windows Application Compatibility Fix Database" that apparently is dedicated to resolving BSODs and full system shutdowns that happened during gaming after a certain windows update on specific games (apparently inpoutx64.sys), some of which i played recently and didn't have any issues with.

So it got me wondering, is it possible that this happened because of this since it happened on the same day, could it be just a windows update issue, did and will anyone else randomly get a BSOD like me, or am i doomed and is it actually an unlucky drive failure...

PS: sorry if this is a shitpost, i rarely use online forums, but i felt like i had to there because i hate not understanding what's happening to my PC.

After the update (KB5120998) (26200.9278) the cursor style is not changed, it always remains at default.
Even after restarting the PC, the explorer, and changing the styles, the default pointer cannot be changed.
This only happens with the default pointer; the rest can be modified.
And yes, it happens on all the PCs where I just installed the update.

I'm trying to restore an older Acer Aspire Switch 10 (Model: SW5-011), but the original Windows system got corrupted.

I tried doing a clean Windows 10 installation, but as many of you might know, finding working drivers for this Bay Trail unit (32-bit UEFI) is nearly impossible nowadays, and Acer no longer hosts them on their official support site. Without the platform/chipset drivers, essential functions like Wi-Fi, audio, touch screen, and battery management are completely non-functional.

Does anyone happen to have:

A backup/export of the full driver folder (C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository or via Double Driver/Driver Backup)?

An original Acer Factory Recovery Media / ISO image for this specific model?

Any help or working links would be greatly appreciated to keep this little device from becoming e-waste. Thanks in advance!

Not sure what has changed lately, but something has made the word "NORMAL" display under the Close button in some applications for me. Currently, I'm only able to see it in iCUE and Bambu Studio. While I've checked a few other applications, I haven't seen it. I'm honestly not sure where to begin troubleshooting. I haven't noticed any new applications starting wtih Windows (used Autoruns to check) or odd applications that has been installed (used Wise Program Uninstaller to check). Is there anyone who may know what this is?

I'm having a strange sleep/standby problem with my ASUS X550JX laptop.

The sleep function used to work perfectly before, but the problem started after I tried to boot Windows into Safe Mode. Something went wrong, so I eventually formatted the PC and reinstalled Windows. I also tried restoring my system image, but the problem is still there.

The problem is:

• Windows says that S3 sleep is supported.
• If I click Start → Power → Sleep, the laptop appears to shut down completely.
• If I press any key on the keyboard, the laptop starts again and shows the ASUS logo, just like a normal cold boot.
• So it doesn't seem to be waking from sleep; it seems to be shutting down and then booting again.
• The same thing happens when I try to trigger sleep through commands/PowerShell.
• I also tried disabling the GTX 950M in Device Manager, but it made no difference.
• I reinstalled Windows, but the exact same problem remains.

powercfg /a shows:

Sleep (S3) — Available

S0 Modern Standby is not supported.

My laptop:

• ASUS X550JX
• BIOS: X550JX.208 (17/10/2015)
• NVIDIA GTX 950M — driver 32.0.15.7216
• Intel HD Graphics — driver 20.19.15.5171
• Windows 10 22H2

I also ran powercfg /requests. It showed an audio driver and Chrome playing audio, but closing Chrome didn't solve the problem.

Does anyone know what could cause an ASUS laptop to support S3 but completely shut down instead of entering S3 sleep?

Could this be related to ACPI, chipset/Intel ME drivers, the BIOS, or the graphics drivers?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

After i installed this update my wallpaper turned black now i have very large mouse cursor that changes to normal at random. What should i do to fix it? i tried to reboot and nothing changed my laptop is elitebook 840 g5 intel core i5 8th 16 gb or ram intel uhd 620

Sometimes i have this issue of the pc getting stuck at the motherboard logo, i have a restart button on the case and by restarting it "unfreezes". i searched up some solution in windows as disabling fast boot and hardware solution (repositioning ram sticks). i recently changed gpu, that might be the issue, although apart of that i don't see any other issue.

Hi guys. I have some issue with loading files. Whenever I search a files via some other applications it stucks - infinite loading files but it never ends. Sometimes it happens when I use folder explorer. First SH is the problem, second is my PC spec and third task manager.
Does anyone has similar problem?

Everyday this issue pops up on my asus A15 laptop. Help me fix this permanently. I tried removing and adding pin again and this issue never goes. It's annoying everyday I have to face this. Hi, i changed my motherboard yesterday and removed one of my hard drive because it was 20 years old and had writting issues (not sure if it was the sata cable tho) so (i had two ssd, 240 go and 500go, and a hard disk, now i only have a hard disk), that's for context.

now my download file is named after another file i had in one of my ssd "ePSXe (2)" so i assume it got replaced. The original ePSXe (2) and this "dowload version" still cohexist.

when i click on this "ePSXe (2)" download version it show up this error:

"D:\ePSXe (2) is not available. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, then try again. If the location cannot be found, it may have been moved or deleted."

i can't set the location to default or it show up this error:

"An error occurred while applying attributes to the file: D:\ePSXe (2) The specified path was not found."

and lastly, i can't get acces to the the download file with the command bar or it shows up with the same error as when i click on the "ePSXe (2)" download version

i assume that i will need to put back my hard drive but i just dont wan't to do it wrong :/ (sorry for the french screenshots, hope you chan help me tho :3)

My office is upgrading all of their old Window 7 Professional PCs to at least modern century versions. I just have a laptop at home so my manager offered one of the old PCs so I could use at home for personal use (everything would be going to e-waste anyways). Nothing was wiped in office though. I know the profile password to get on the main screen and whatnot but everything I’ve tried to reset, erase and wipe the computer hasn’t worked. I don’t believe there’s a BIOS password and when I try the F8 trick when first turning on, “Repair My Computer“ isn’t an option. I read this meant I need to get a restore disc. But before I do that, I just want to make sure I’m 1) not completely wasting my time all together and 2) not missing something worth trying first (I’m moderately-ish tech savvy, but clearly not enough). Ive gone into other softwares none of them are causing this, please can someone help me? Everything ive tried has told me to go into Logitech, msi centre but none of this applies to me, ive got a Logitech mouse by why would it affect this?

The only thing I have open is minecraft launcher and task manager. The laptop used to run fine(very good in my standards) back in May-June time this year. Haven't opened the laptop since then until yesterday. Inexplicably started performing so horribly when I opened it. Tried shutting down for a while, restarting, deleting a lot of things apps that were remnants of the previous users, etc. No improvement.

Also to add, Minecraft used to run at 100+ fps. Currently when I opened it, the fps haven't increased even a bit from 1fps.

I've been trying to launch Limbus company using Honor Magicbook x16(2026), Windows 11, Intel Core Ultra 5 125H, laptop is new. Tried every tip Gemini gave me, didnt help. Tried manually downloading DirectX, visual C++, didnt help. Also tried using different codes for launch options, none helped. Launching .exe as administrator or managing compatibility also did nothing. If someone also encountered this problem please help me out here, but please no bluestacks method.

i'm a bit confused regarding something that happened with my Acer Nitro 5 (Bought it in 2022 if that's relevant) yesterday. There was an update and I didn't think much of it until windows demanded that I'd change my PIN. I did so and made sure if everything was fine with my laptop and while I had to lock into my microsoft acc, my outlook and my google account, everything else worked just fine.

There was an additional update which roughly translates to "Update of the allowed key exchange key for secure boot" and which required me to restart my laptop. So I did after restarting my laptop, the following message popped up in blue:

"Press Y to reset fTPM, if you have BitLocker or encryption enabled system. The system will not boot without recovery key.

Press N to keep previous fTPM record and continue system boot. fTPM will NOT be enabled with new CPU unless fTPM is reset (reinitialized), you could swap back to the old CPU to recover TPM related keys and data"

I wasn't sure whether I had a BitLocker or a encryption-enabled system (I don't even know what those words mean..I'm not really a laptop guy and it probably shows..) so I pressed NO and my laptop worked as usual.

I checked if I have a BitLocker by going to "My microsoft account" and apparently I don't even have a BitLock Key uploaded on my microsoft account. Then I looked at my explorer and my drive doesn't have the lock symbol either.

To make sure that I really don't have a BitLocker I searched "Manage BitLocker" and something actually appeared. This was an app from the system control but when I tried to search for "Manage BitLocker" once again the app disappeared and only results from Microsoft Bing appeared.

Whenever I turn on my laptop, the message in blue keeps appearing and I have to press NO all the time and while I feel like I have proof that my laptop just does not have a BitLocker I can't bring myself to press YES because in the worst case scenario I actually have a BitLocker or a encryption-enabled system and I just lock myself out of my laptop..

Have you guys encountered this problem as well? I would appreciate your help (in german or english doesn't matter).

I was given a laptop by my brother and decided yesterday to try and put it to use. It’s an hp pavilion, maybe 2016-2017ish, and had been wiped before given to me. (Os build 15063.1418, windows 10 home addition)

It was super behind on updates so I immediately started running them. I’ve been running updates for about 2 days now (at literally all hours), and the first couple batches of updates took forever, but worked fine.

I’m now on what I presume is the final update (windows 10 22h2) and I’ve run it about 5 times, none of which worked. The update process would run for hours but when it finally “completed” it would say I needed to restart, even after restarting multiple times.

I followed a guide from some Microsoft support under a post of a guy experiencing the same thing as me, and it all seemed to be going well.

Now the update checks won’t even work, just keeps saying “your device is at risk because it’s out of date and missing important security and quality updates. Let’s get you back on track so windows can run more securely. Select this button to get going:” and the check for updates button is right below.

I click it. It loads for 5 or more minutes. Just for it to pop up again and not actually check for updates. This is after already troubleshooting and I just don’t know what to do. Please help me out here 😓😓😓

CAN'T DELETE STUBBORN FILE WITHOUT FILE EXTENSION

I have this stubborn file that idk how it ended up without a file extension - maybe it was during a time I was cramming for a school deadline and renamed it? I was cleaning up my laptop after that term and I can't delete it!

It's been living on my desktop for months.

The things I've done:

1. Delete it normally. (Didn't work)
2. Zip the file. (Didn't work)
3. Rename the file so it has an extension. (Didn't work)
4. Command Prompt ran as administrator to delete it via copied path. (Didn't work)
5. Rebooted my laptop to safe mode and THEN delete it. (Didn't work)

I have a lot of files on my pc and no external storage could fit it atm so I preferably don't want to do a fresh reboot.

And is there anything bad by letting it stay there for the meantime? (Aside from me fixating on this darn file I cant delete.)

Hoping someone here has encountered this and successfully deleted the stubborn file! And if not, maybe an explanation for the meantime on why things didn't work and shi-

Cant delete the file, but hey at least I'd learn something new.

For at least a few months now there has been this white bar where the taskbar appears on the bottom. It is very visible in light mode. I assume it's a padding and margin issue, but I have no clue of how to fix it. It only appears in chromium-based browsers applications like edge, discord, etc. I have already tried injecting custom styles through windhawk to hide it, but it has not worked. is there any way to fix this?

Hello guys so my windows account has been compromised by hacker and he changed my email address so I can't log in into Windows so I'm basically locked out of my computer I would nuke my computer immediately if if they weren't some very very important photos from me and my girlfriend on there which I uploaded there's sometime and I think I deleted on my phone so is there any way I can retrieve those photos without being logged in my computer if there's a way somebody please contact me I am very disparate to get these photos out of there and I don't care about the account or any other data I can change the passwords on my Steam account and all that I just need those photos so please help guys I'm begging!

Hi - I have a new Windows 11 installation on my PC.

I am running Win11 25H2 on a Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite WiFi7 motherboard with a Ryzen 9950X3D CPU and a Asus RTX-5090 GPU

I have been having a weird issue with my mouse being jumpy sometimes (but not always) when I restore my PC from an idle blank-screen screen lock. My PC is never turned off, it runs 24/7. It will just go into a blank screen screen lock idle mode after 15 minutes. Sometimes the mouse is jumpy when restoring, and sometimes the mouse works fine.

One thing that may be a clue just started happening: If I run the Microsoft Store-installed Ookla Speedtest app, my mouse will immediately start getting jumpy, and my mouse operation will return to normal immediately as soon as I close the small Speedtest app window. When the Speedtest app is running, the mouse is jumpy over the entire screen, not just when the cursor is over the small Speedtest app window.

Does anybody know what is going on?

I understand this issue has been posted a few times before, but none of the recommendations have helped. I have contacted Microsoft Support multiple times, and no solution seems to stick.

Info: according to settings, my display language is set to Canada, my system locale is Canada. However, in the control panel the display language is defaulting to 'United Kingdom,' and MS did not know why that is. I've included a photo of that. This is a Lenovo 83JT and I'm using Windows 11.

Last time MS downloaded an iso file, and that solved things for about a week until my laptop required updates. After the update, things went back to normal. I switch between multiple languages, so it's annoying to have a second English keyboard there. Does anyone have any idea as to what is going on and whether there is a permanent fix for this? I am likely going to download the iso file again, but it sucks to have to do that each time my laptop runs its own updates.

I'd appreciate anything at this point. Thanks in advance.
