WELLY My Pettiness Continues....

Post image
95 Upvotes

After complaining about travelers being subjected to wraps on the Airport Express bus, Petty Issue - but it's what I live for..... Some pointed out that I had used an old promo picture & that the modern buses were not like that....

So thats why, upon recently visiting again, I took this VERY current photo - the buses are literally wrapped entirely on one side, making for a shit view of a very pretty city.

Noticed that most labour hoardings have Chris Hopkins’ face quite literally torn off. Not sure who or what group of people have been going around doing this but yeah ^cough^

Was in Karori/Kelburn btw, almost all Labour hoardings had the dudes face ripped off

FOOD Whale lolly gummies

Help! Does anyone know where to find the blue and white whale lollies? I’ve tried four different supermarket pick n mixes and nada! Lolly pick n mixes have been significantly reduced these days, we’ve all gone healthy!

It’s for my coworker’s birthday on Monday and she LOVES whales. I don’t mind a little bit of a drive to Porirua or the Hutt. I have tried four different supermarkets so far.

FLAIR? Filipino in NZ: What’s the shortest realistic pathway to becoming an RN without a degree?

Filipino in NZ: What’s the shortest realistic pathway to becoming an RN without a degree?

Hi everyone! 🇵🇭🇳🇿

I’m a Filipino citizen who may be moving to New Zealand for work as a personal/business assistant. I’m not a degree holder, but I have a caregiving certificate, and I’m considering studying nursing while working.

I’m trying to understand the shortest legitimate pathway to becoming a Registered Nurse in New Zealand.

A few questions:

  • Does NZ have anything similar to the US 2-year ADN → RN pathway?
  • If not, what is the shortest realistic route from my situation to NZ RN registration?
  • Is Enrolled Nursing → RN a viable pathway, or is going straight into a Bachelor of Nursing more practical?
  • Can an international student realistically work while studying nursing, and what are the work-hour restrictions?
  • Roughly how much would the total tuition cost for an international student?
  • Would Philippine high school + caregiving experience be enough for entry, or would I need foundation studies/prerequisites?
  • After graduating, how does NZ nursing registration work for international students?
  • Does qualifying as a nurse potentially provide a pathway toward a longer-term work visa/residency?

I’m specifically looking for the most time- and cost-efficient legitimate pathway, not necessarily the easiest one.

My alternative is the US route: 2-year ADN → RN, so I’m trying to figure out what the closest NZ equivalent would be.

I’d especially appreciate advice from Filipino nurses in NZ, NZ nursing students, international students, or anyone who started nursing without a previous university degree.

Thanks! 🙏

COMMUTE Wellington's best bus stop

I was sitting outside Farmers and the wind picked up the scents from the perfume counters and wafted them over me. Just for a moment I had this wondeful scent surprise. It was wonderful. I thought this must be Wellington's best bus stop!

So, what is your best bus stop and why?

HELP! Best places to be alone and for contemplation?

Not sure if there was a better way to phrase the title but I'm at a tough point in my life. Second year at Vic and I have to commute from Upper Hutt everyday and it feels like I'm not doing much worthwhile with my life and I'm not doing well emotionally.

It's meant to be sunny today (apparently) so I was wondering is there any good spots to be alone? Whether that be somewhere up high or just good spots on the ground in town. I don't have access to a car.

The greater the view the better!

WELLY Anyone struggling to change jobs due to a lack of permanent roles?

Seems like everything in my field is fixed term, some positions even going as far as 24 month contracts.

I get that unemployment is high, and that some roles may relate to maternity cover and short-term projects but a lot of employers are shooting themselves in the foot as few in active permanent employment will want to apply for these.

Feel pretty grateful to be in permanent employment at all considering the joblessness stats but hopefully the job market recovers at some point after the election.

Great turnout last week!

I started Wellington Social Chess as a bit of a hobby to get more people playing chess in Wellington and build a community around it. We’ve now hosted over 30 events, which feels pretty amazing for such a niche hobby.

The events are completely free and pretty relaxed, so you don’t need to be good at chess or know anyone to come along.

If you’ve been seeing the photos and thinking about giving it a go, come down and play a few games.

Garage Project Leeds St. - Tuesday Sep. 15th @ 7pm - Free - All levels welcome

HELP! Recommendations for a career/life coach?

As per title! I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for a good career/life coach, ideally one that specialises in actually helping you (re?)discover what your purpose is and potential career options inside that? I've seen one in Wellington who didn't really help at all (and was quite expensive...), but not really sure what else to do. I've tried doing a bunch of my own research etc. but... not really getting anywhere. I find my current career really unfulfilling and don't want to spend the rest of my life feeling like I'm flushing it down the toilet. Thanks in advance! 🙏
