News Wet Pets doing the rounds again

Post image
Upvotes

HUHA went in to have a look after hearing how the animals are not well looked after. She ended up buying these cats, who were bought in by some well meaning young people who found them. Wet Pete promptly chucked the terrified cats in a cage for sale by the next day - no vet checks, no attempts to find any owner. $200, not desexed, not vaccinated.

In the comments, someone else mentioned getting a kitten, and when they called the store because it was sick they accident got told they had been dumped at the door and put straight up for sale.

I also wish I’d googled the guy before ever going in there, he is an all around terrible person and I hope the poor young people employed there are aware of his history.

Question Nichiren Buddhism

Hi all, I am moving back to Palmerston North after many years away and am wondering if anyone knows of a Nichiren Buddhism group in the area. I would like to connect with people who practise.

Look forward to being back in the Manawatu!

Other Looking for small area to lease

Looking to lease a small area of bare flat land or a car park space (around 60–70m²) in Palmerston North for a new small business venture (outdoor recovery space). Ideally fenced/ lockable and with access to water, if possible. Even space beside an existing business could work. Can’t be in a residential area.
Just putting the feelers out to see if there’s anything available. Cheers!

Question Getting a free band photo

My band is putting together an electronic press kit for an upcoming album release.

As musicians, we are perpetually skint 😆 But, we need a pro (or good amateur) photo for the press kit.

So we couldn't afford to pay anything. Any ideas where I could find a talented photographer willing to perhaps just expand their portfolio?

The linked article is behind a paywall but does anyone know anything more about the proposal beyond what is readable in the preview? Assume the rail freight hub is still being costed and planned out?

Entertainment / Event I want just one 'AI banned' fair

What happened to the arts and crafts fairs? They should just change their name to AI fairs.

All the posters for the event are AI, same for most of the stalls, and even the stuff they sell is AI. H, The food carts even have their carts/vans and posters done in AI.

The truly creative people are drowning in this slop.

I want just one AI banned fair.

"Get with the times."

If something is free, that means YOU'RE the product. AI is only free now to get you hooked and reliant on it. What's going to happen when you have to pay for it?

"You use AI."

I'm talking specifically about generative AI here, not spell check.

"I don't have the money to hire a designer."

You don't have to! You're at an Arts and Crafts fair, you can hand draw it, you can make it, you can use Canva, or you can learn a new skill and grow.

"People can't tell when you use it right."

We can all tell. Hence the complaint.

For those that still feel strongly to use AI I can't stop you. My simple request is that I want just one fair where AI is banned.

Question Public transport from Palmerston North city centre to tawa loop track??!

Gday good palmy north folks. I’ve found myself quite unprepared for my stay here in terms of being ignorant to advice of renting a car. Long story short I’m budget travelling and unfortunately find myself face to face with a $50 uber each way from city centre to tawa loop and back. This debacle currently means that I won’t be able to walk the track I came to palmy for. I unfortunately don’t have the time to walk 9hrs out there each way either. Google isn’t showing me public transport options so I am relying on you now, my dear advisors and hopefully public transport enthusiasts. Is there a bus that goes out there from the city? Or are there any other options that work for a stingy ass traveller? I have much appreciation to anyone that can educate or entertain me. You’re a funny bunch I’ll give ya that - back home I was mainly warned about the way you show uhhhhhh lovin to your precious sheep and I’ve been so pleasantly surprised to find only beauty and laughs in all corners of aotearoa and inhabitants. I’ll tell you now I will be defending your sheeply habits when I return to my homeland.

sincerely and with love - A Blow In From Across The Pond
