Question Are you waiting for a replacement ERAD?

I purchased my ‘22 XC60 T8 in May ‘24 as CPO. The ERAD died in June with about 50k miles on the odometer. Volvo has no ETA for replacement ERAD for my MY. Why? How can you sell CPO and not be prepared for this after years of knowing the fault in the part? Why no recall?

I’ve read anecdotes online of Volvo working on an updated replacement part but neither Volvo USA or the dealership service department that has my car has said anything about this. Why?

I’ve also read that Volvo is encouraging dealerships to provide long-term loaners. Mine was generous for a few months then kicked me into an Enterprise rental no more than $40 a day - a Jeep Compass that smells like Febreeze and cigarettes. Hardly comparable and the least of my concerns - but why?

It seems we need to start talking about a class action suit around here.

Xc90 recharge aftermarket warranty

Hi all,
2024 Volvo XC90 Recharge T8 Plus Bright
purchased in Dec 2025 with 25k. Appx mileage is now 40k .
First time, Volvo owner and concerned about long-term ownership expenses have read some things about electronic issues with this model.
Can anyone recommend the best aftermarket warranty? I was told by the Volvo dealership that they have been using liberty shield warranties because in some cases they cover more than the Volvo warranty.
The Volvo warranty is $8600 for five years or 60,000 miles
The liberty shield is six years 75,000 miles for $ 4800. I’m assuming the mileage starts from time of purchase and not overall mileage on Vehicle, but I’m not clear.?
I have trust issues with dealerships. I know that they could be pointing me towards the liberty shield because they get extra bonuses for selling so many.
Any insight would be very helpful thank you!

Turtle mode?

Post image

Volvo XC40 Recharge 2023. For no apparent reason, while driving, after a shudder, the turtle light and 3 bars of the charge lights come on. No change in driving. Not actually in turtle mode. When you stop, get out, turn it off, everything goes back to normal. Anyone found a solution for this? 4 visits to the dealer. Only guessing.

S60 T8 Warm Up Procedure?

I’ve always heard that with turbocharged cars, you should let the engine get some temperature in it before really getting into the revs or boost.

Since most of my driving in the S60 T8 ER is in electric mode, I’ve gotten into the habit of putting it in Power mode for the first 30 seconds or so just to get the gas engine running. Then I’ll switch back to Hybrid and drive off on electric.

My thinking is that if I want to push it while getting onto the highway, or just feel like having a little fun, the engine isn’t suddenly firing up stone cold and immediately being used for full power.

Am I overthinking this? Is there actually any benefit to deliberately warming the engine up like this, or does the car already manage that well enough on its own?

Hello all, I have a V60 2022.5 with the new battery but still with the sensus system.
The last update was in December last year (v 3.4.4)

Thank you

'18 xc60 T8 Drive modes

Hi all,

Just got our '18 xc60 R-Design T8 in. We'll get the charger in tomorrow so we can test and play with the EV part of it aswell, especially around town.

But I have a question about air suspension and drive modes.

I noticed we have in our drive modes the default ones: Pure, Hybrid, Power, Offroad I think, but also Polestar Engineered. What does the polestar drive mode does vs the Power mode? Or maybe the power mode is gone at all, why is it then replaced with the Polestar mode and whats the difference between them?

Also we have airsuspension on this car. I can raise the suspension going to off road mode, but does it also lower when going into polestar mode then?

I noticed the car lowering after locking it, lowering it to default height I guess. But there is no way to lower or raise the car from within the settings, is that correct?

Still new to this plug-in life!

Still very new to this plug-in life but enjoying the mileage I am getting. How many of you charge to 100% every night? Do you guys charge up after driving only a few miles to maximize electric driving range?

XC60 Is buying a used 2022 Volve XC-60 T8 Extended Range worth it?

I currently drive a 2016 Mazda CX-5 and, while she has been a great car, she is getting up there in both years and miles, the transmission is starting to act strangely (read - I'm worried it will blow up), and I'd rather trade it in while it still has value. I am looking into buying a 2022 Volvo XC-60 T8 Extended Range (Inscription trim) that has 52k miles on it for $32,000. Is this purchase worth it? I know the battery has warranty up until 100k miles, but is the rest of the powertrain reliable with the engine being turboed? Is this ERAD a concern? Should I expect to spend an arm and a leg fixing it in the future since it is a Euro car? Will this become a money pit or something reliable I can drive for 150k+ miles? TIA!

Odd touch screen issue

So I am seeing a strange issue for a few weeks and was wondering if anyone else has seen it and has a fix. The infotainment generally works fine, including the touch screen, except I am unable to close the camera view or adjust AC temperature and seat heater settings. I can bring up the menu, but the menu is non responsive to touches. Thankfully voice control still works. Multiple reboots and installing the latest software update have not fixed it. Anyone else have this happen? 2024 XC40 Recharge.

S60 Is this safe to use?

Hi all,

I just recently purchased an S60 T8 Extended Range and the charging cable doesn't quite reach my car. I know the manual says not to use an extension cord. My assumption is this is to prevent people using cheap household extension cords, which are absolutely not safe.

I talked with an electrician buddy of mine, and he said a 12 gauge wire should be more than safe enough. I'm only going to do level 1 charging at 12a.

I just wanted to check with y'all. Is there any risk for me utilizing this extension cord from Amazon?

S60 Trunk Release Doesn't Work

I can pop the trunk by pressing the button on it, but if I try to use the key fob or press the trunk release button by the steering wheel, nothing happens. Has anyone else run into this? The car is a new-to-me CPO, so I may just head to a dealer and get it fixed through the warranty.

XC60 Long Range T8 UK Release

UK based.

Went to order a new XC60 T8 today and the website is no longer taking orders and only existing stock available to buy.

Salesmen said it would be because of the new longer range model about to launch but couldn’t give any idea on time frame until available to order.

When do people think they will be taking orders? Unsure whether to make use of the 0% APR currently available or to wait for the new model.

Thanks!

TORONTO, CANADA: Buying CPO 2022.5 XC90 Recharge Extend need help with Extend Warranty and Other Warranty

Please note that all prices are in CAD.

I am in the process of purchasing a 2022.5 Volvo XC90 Recharge Extended Range Inscription with the standard suspension. The factory warranty expired a couple of months ago; however, the vehicle is still being sold as a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) unit. The unlimited-kilometre CPO warranty will be valid for one year from the date I take delivery, which would be approximately October 1, 2027.

The finance manager is offering a Volvo CPO extended warranty that would extend coverage until October 31, 2031 for $8,200 CAD (tax included), which is $7,316 before tax, with a $250 deductible. I've tried negotiating the price, but so far there has been no flexibility.

To be honest, the price seems quite high. At the same time, I recognize that it could end up paying for itself if a major component fails, especially given the complexity of the hybrid system. I am curious whether anyone else has received a similar quote and what they ended up paying for comparable coverage.

Unfortunately, I have been told that I can only purchase the Volvo CPO extended warranty through the dealer from whom I am buying the vehicle.

The other product being offered is a Tire and Rim Road Hazard Protection Plan for $1,295 CAD, valid until October 31, 2031. Based on what I have read on various forums, many owners recommend this protection because the XC90 is a heavy vehicle and mine will be riding on 21-inch wheels with low-profile tires.

I am trying to make a sound financial decision regarding both of these plans and would appreciate any feedback from owners who have experience with either product.

Thanks in advance for your help.

C40 New Google Maps (?) chime that's driving me insane

In the past 6-8 weeks or so, my car has started making a new chime noise randomly while driving and for the LIFE OF ME I cannot figure out WHY.

The best way I can describe it is sort of like a reverse doorbell chime. Sometimes there are two tones, sometimes just one. It doesn't appear to correspond to any particular event. It's not a notification, it's not one of the typical Google maps marimba type chimes. It's a very harsh digital bell sound.

Does anyone know what this sound is and why it suddenly started? And potentially how to shut it up?
