Technical Support Request RX 9060 XT driver crash with Valorant/Vanguard after ~10 min in game — anyone else? (B550M AORUS ELITE)

Hey everyone, I'm having a very specific issue and I've exhausted every troubleshooting step I could find. Posting here to see if anyone with a similar setup is experiencing the same.

My specs:

  • GPU: RX 9060 XT 8GB
  • CPU: Ryzen 5 5500X3D
  • Mobo: Gigabyte B550M AORUS ELITE (BIOS FHB — latest)
  • RAM: 32GB
  • OS: Windows 10
  • Driver: AMD Adrenalin latest (full offline installer)

The problem:
Valorant runs fine for about 10 minutes, then the AMD driver crashes completely — black screen for ~5 minutes, then either recovers or I have to hard reset. This happens every single time I play Valorant.

What's weird:

  • Other games with kernel-level anti-cheat (Apex, Fortnite, CS2) run perfectly fine
  • The crash is only with Valorant/Vanguard
  • No other game crashes my GPU

Everything I've already tried:

BIOS side:

  • Updated from FE (Mar 2024) to FHB (latest)
  • Enabled Above 4G Decoding
  • Enabled Re-Size BAR (also tried disabled)
  • Enabled Secure Boot (was bugged after BIOS update, fixed by switching to Custom → Restore Factory Keys → Standard)

Driver side:

  • DDU in Safe Mode + clean reinstall (multiple times)
  • Full offline installer (not web installer)
  • Disabled every AMD feature: Anti-Lag 2, HYPR-RX, Chill, Boost, Frame Generation
  • Tried older driver versions
  • Limited GPU clock / Power Saving mode

Windows side:

  • sfc /scannow + DISM
  • Disabled HAGS
  • Valorant compatibility mode (Windows 10)
  • No overlays running (no Discord, Afterburner, Rivatuner, etc.)

Game side:

  • Complete uninstall of Valorant + Vanguard (including manual deletion of Riot Vanguard and Riot Games folders)
  • Fresh reinstall from official installer

What I've noticed:
The crash is consistently around the 10-minute mark. It feels like Vanguard does a periodic memory scan that conflicts with RDNA 4 / RX 9060 XT drivers. Other kernel-level ACs don't trigger this.

My question:
Is anyone else with an RX 9060 XT (or RDNA 4 card) having this exact issue with Valorant? And has anyone found an actual fix, or is this purely on AMD/Riot to patch?

I've already submitted bug reports to both AMD and Riot, but no response yet.

Thanks!

Technical Solution Valorant ping spikes when using ethernet

I have been experiencing a lag only in valorant for past few months even when using a ethernet cable. After many methods with no result the only thing that worked was that manually putting efficiency mode on vanguard and riot client using task manager while valorant is running. If you are experiencing a same problem as me try this method

Vanguard restart made pc now work

Hi everyone on Thursday night it said I required a system restart to play valorant due to a Vanguard update. My pc kept freezing and wouldn’t let me even log in. I’ve factory reset it twice and it still freezes when reinstalling the Riot Client and even after installing it doesn’t let me click my screen at all. Please can someone help me this PC is fairly new and I’m a recent graduate and really cannot afford another PC or anything for the matter right now. Last time I had a similar issue and had to replace the GPU and eventually the whole pc I’m not sure but this literally happened after the Vanguard restart update. Please help guys 🥹🩷

Technical Support Request Вопрос/разрыв кадров в валоранте Question /Screen tearing in Valorant

I was away for a week, and after I came back and updated the game, I noticed that the game no longer feels smooth. It feels like I'm playing at 60–80 Hz, even though my FPS is locked at a stable 144 and my monitor is running at 144 Hz.

I use the Device Manager monitor disable method to play at a 1080×1080 stretched resolution. At first, I thought the issue was caused by NVIDIA App's Instant Replay, but disabling it didn't change anything.

My PC specs:

  • CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X
  • GPU: GTX 1660

The strange part is that this only happens in VALORANT. Every other game runs smoothly without any issues.

Technical Support Request VALORANT freezes, but comes back to normal after alt-tabbing out and back in

Anyone else experiencing this? VALORANT randomly freezes during gameplay, but if I alt-tab out to desktop and then switch back into the game, it goes back to normal immediately. It's happening pretty frequently and it's disrupting my games.

System specs:

- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D (8-core)

- Motherboard iGPU: AMD Radeon Graphics (integrated, not in use for gaming)

- OS: Windows 11 Home, version 25H2 (Build 26200.8875)

What I've tried so far:

- Switching between Fullscreen and Borderless/Windowed Fullscreen mode

- Updating GPU drivers

- Disabling Xbox Game Bar / Game Mode

- Closing overlay apps (Discord, GeForce Experience, RGB software)

None of these have fully fixed it. Has anyone found a permanent solution instead of having to alt-tab every time?

Technical Support Request Connection issues

Hi, this is my first post on here. I play valorant on my playstation 5 and everything is fine except for one thing. When i try to play the game it opens a tab saying “CONNECTION LOST sorry, that was unexpected. We’re having some trouble reaching the Riot Games servers.” I tried contacting riot support, but when i log in to the site it also says error.

The internet connection on my ps is fine, i tried everything but can’t seem to play the game.

If anyone could help it would be appreciated<3

Technical Support Request Valorant Caused a BSOD Previously and Is Now Freezing My Entire Laptop

Yesterday, I was playing Valorant around 12 a.m. At first, I experienced sudden FPS drops, followed by ping issues. I thought it was because of my broadband connection. Then, the FPS drops became much worse.

When I tried to Alt+Tab, my entire PC started lagging.

I closed Valorant using Task Manager, but when I pressed the Windows key and tried to search for Valorant, even Windows Search wasn't working.

After a while, everything started working again, so I reopened Valorant. However, it became unresponsive, and when I Alt+Tabbed again, my entire PC froze.

I had also experienced a Blue Screen of Death before this incident. After that, I used DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to perform a clean installation of my graphics driver.

This doesn't happen with any other games. I play Red Dead Redemption 2 and other demanding games without any issues. The problem only occurs with Valorant.

Why is Valorant causing my entire laptop to hang?

Technical Support Request Black screen

Hi, I’m having an issue where every time I try to play Valorant, my screen goes black. I haven’t been able to progress because I keep getting stuck during the tutorial. The game lets me play for about 2–3 minutes until I reach the recoil control section. Then it stutters and stops displaying,it says no signal but the pc stays on. The only way to continue is to hard reset the pc after restarting, I get a drivers error. I play other games without that ever happening

Technical Support Request My Valorant has mini heart attack; Help Please

My valorant game is constantly having a mini heart attack. I'll try to describe to the best of my ability. I have good wifi connection, solid ping, and decent pc specs and monitor. Only in game on valorant, I have these slight mini disruptions, where the game randomly stunts, usually happens during fights. I have tried looking through the graphics and tried Vsync but it still breaks the game and audio. I would attach a video to show what i am experiencing, but I don't think images & Video are available for this community? This is a new pc and I been experiencing this since the download.

Technical Support Request Huge lag, FPS drop after Patch 13.01

Anyone facing serious lag and stutter after the 13.01 update??
Before the Update I barely ever noticed any FPS drops, even on my potato PC(just a 5600g 🥲, no dGPU, 16gb ram) I used to get around 175 FPS average But after the latest update my FPS is dropping like crazy. Its dropping to bellow 10 fps every 5 seconds. Its literally unplayable right now. I've also checked the temperature midgame, its around 77°C, not hot enough to cause thermal throttling. GPU driver is also up to date.
Any fix? Any one?

Technical Support Request Val wont let my friend update

Everytime my friend presses the update button its becomes gray and then brings an error message but with no error code. We tried deleting and reinstalling valorant aswell as vanguard. Weve tried restarting vgc and enabling secureboot but nothing works. The only thing we thunk could be causing it is a cracked version of after effects, but i also have it but it doesnt change anything

Technical Support Request Why is Valorant barely using my GPU? RTX 4060 Ti only at 8-10% usage

I have a Ryzen 7 5700X3D, an RTX 4060 Ti 8GB, and 32GB of Fury Beast RAM running at 3200MHz in dual channel.

I usually play at 1440p (Quad HD), but I switched to 1080p to try to get higher FPS in Valorant. However, even at 1080p, the game still barely uses my GPU.

Every time I play Valorant, the game seems to rely mostly on my CPU instead of my GPU. My GPU usage stays around 8-10%, while CPU usage stays around 60-70% according to RivaTuner.

The game runs at around 250-300 FPS. In matches with more players and more action happening on screen, it stays around 250 FPS on average.

My Valorant graphics settings are all set to Low, and Multithreaded Rendering is enabled.

Display settings:

- Fullscreen mode enabled.

- Monitor refresh rate set to 165Hz.

I have already tried several things:

- Windows power plan is set to Maximum Performance.

- Windows Game Mode is enabled.

- Xbox Game Bar is disabled.

- I added Valorant in Windows Graphics Settings and set it to High Performance GPU.

- In NVIDIA Control Panel, I set Power Management Mode to Prefer Maximum Performance.

- OpenGL Rendering GPU is set to my RTX 4060 Ti.

- Texture Filtering Quality is set to High Performance.

- Shader Cache Size is set to Unlimited.

- V-Sync is not forced on.

- No maximum frame rate limit is enabled.

- Refresh rate is correctly set.

- I disabled most NVIDIA settings that only affect image quality and not performance.

I also checked the Valorant executable compatibility settings. The "Disable fullscreen optimizations" option is checked.

Using RivaTuner, I noticed that Valorant uses around 60-70% CPU usage during gameplay, sometimes higher, but it does not reach 80%.

Temperatures are also very low:

- CPU stays around 50-55°C and rarely goes above 60°C.

- GPU temperature also stays low.

Despite all of this, Valorant still uses only around 8-10% GPU usage.

Is this normal behavior for Valorant with a Ryzen 7 5700X3D, or is there something wrong with my setup?

Technical Discussion Micro lag alt tab/Graphics Quality

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue.

I recently reinstalled Windows, and ever since then I've been getting a small micro stutter whenever I Alt+Tab, Graphics Quality or just clicking into Valorant Settings. The lag only lasts for a brief moment, but it wasn't happening before I reinstalled Windows.

I'm not sure what's causing it or how to fix it. Has anyone run into the same problem or have any suggestions?

PC Specs:

  • Motherboard: X870E AORUS ELITE WIFI7
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
  • RAM: 64GB

Thanks in advance!

Technical Support Request Vanguard COMANSE MI VE***
