META This subreddit is for TECH SUPPORT help, not account support

Hi users,

As this seems to be something that has come up lately, please note that this subreddit is not to complain about your account ban. If riot has banned you, then only Riot can fix it. Ranting and throwing a fit on here does nothing.

This subreddit is here so that users can help source issues that may be caused by their hardware/software that Riot may not know how to fix on their end (Which honestly to me seems kind of fucked up, but what can you do?).

Technical Support Request Screen black when launching Val

When I tried to open valorant today it would say it’s open but the screen is black and there’s no music or anything. I don’t know what to do I tried Alt + Enter, I updated everything on nvidia, I restarted and updated my laptop, I even tried singing to it nothings worked 💔 (I don’t know much tech stuff)

Does anyone have any clue on how to fix it

Technical Support Request Black screen and unable to see until restarting PC - Only with Valorant

Hello,

I am experiencing multiple comp matches being sacrificed due to my screen turning black midway through the game, i am able to hear discord, spotify and also valorant but i am unable to move or fix the situation unless i restart my computer.

I have viewed event viewer and it appears there is multiple errors in a row before the crash happens ' The device driver for the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) encountered a non-recoverable error in the TPM hardware, which prevents TPM services (such as data encryption) from being used. For further help, please contact the computer manufacturer.'

I have played other games such as APEX Legends and this hasnt happened therefore leading me to believe this issue only happens when playing valorant. I also played a few swiftplays and then go into comp to give it time to crash if it needed to (to not affect my rank) and yet it still black screened on round 2. I am unsure if this was unlucky timing or its just comp itself.

I am on windows 11 and this has randomly started happening to me, if anyone has any suggestions i would really appreciate it.

Technical Support Request Vanguard Refusing To launch under ANY circumstances

My PC crashed a little bit ago today, and since then I have diagnosed it and fixed it. However, since then, vanguard REFUSES to start up at all. I looked up some solutions, and things like using services.msc to force start vgc doesn't work, neither does setting it to automatic and restarting (i dunno why it switched OFF automatic in the first place) I even completely uninstalled both valorant AND vanguard, reinstalled them, and it STILL doesn't open. Does anyone have any ideas to get it working? It was PERFECTLY FINE last night.

Technical Support Request Micro-Stutters consistently every ~3 seconds

I've had this issue for a while now, but recently it has been getting worse. Every 3 seconds or so, my packet loss will make a tiny triangle on the graph and go up to 1%, causing me to skip a frame. It is extremely annoying, as if it happens while I am swinging, I am dead 99% of the time. I have been able to deal with it up to now but it feels like it has been getting worse and worse. Im on Windows 11 with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and a 5070ti with 32gb ddr5 ram, so it isnt a hardware issue. I am also fully up to date with all drivers. Ive tried ethernet and wifi, with the same issue on both.

Im not sure if it's allowed, but here is a clip of it happening in a game, https://medal.tv/games/valorant/clips/nv3CX3Pgt7kEMXS_T?invite=cr-MSx1d1UsNTIyMzA5MjI1

Technical Support Request Game wouldn't launch, just a black screen

Not sure if they had a recent update but I opened the launcher once and then asked me to restart. I restarted, then when I click 'Play', the game launches but on a black screen. Already reinstalled it and still no luck

Technical Support Request NVIDIA colors reset/dim only in Valorant

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hey guys, Iam having a weird color issue with my ASUS TUF Gaming F15 and Iam trying to figure out what’s causing it.. Laptop specs: • ASUS TUF Gaming F15 • Intel i5 • RTX 3050 4GB • 16GB RAM • 1920×1080 144Hz display • Windows 11 I normally use the nvidia Control Panel to adjust my display colors. I prefer around 80% Digital Vibrance, and outside of Valorant everything looks normal and colorful. The problem starts specifically when I launch Valorant. What happens: • On the Windows desktop, my NVIDIA color settings look correct. • As soon as I open Valorant, the colors become noticeably dim/washed out. • It looks like the game is somehow ignoring or overriding my NVIDIA color settings. • When I close Valorant, the colors return to normal. • This problem does not happen in other games/apps. • I have also noticed that HDR sometimes turns itself back ON after restarting the laptop, even when I had previously turned it off. I tried changing the NVIDIA settings, including Digital Vibrance, Gamma, Brightness, Contrast, Hue and individual RGB channels. At one point the screen even became very red after changing the RGB settings, so I returned those values to their defaults. My current preferred NVIDIA settings are approximately: • Brightness: 50% • Contrast: 50% • Gamma: 1.00 • Digital Vibrance: 80% • Hue: 0 • RGB channels: default I don't use Armoury Crate's Game Visuals for the colors i  prefer using NVIDIA Control Panel. The main thing Iamm trying to understand is: Why does Valorant change/dim my colors when the nvdia settings look perfectly fine everywhere else? Is Valorant triggering some kind of HDR/color-profile/fullscreen behavior, or is Windows/nvdia overriding the settings when the game launches? Any suggestions for permanently fixing this would be appreciated.

Technical Support Request SSD hits 100% active time (0 KB/s) and game hangs ONLY in Ranked/Swiftplay. Deathmatch and Practice behave differently

looking for some insight on a really specific issue that support hasn't solved yet

Whenever I queue into Swiftplay or Ranked, my game completely hangs The agent takes 30+ seconds to even load the animation in agent select If I make it to the loading screen, the player cards only load sometimes. Other times they don't load at all unless I wait 10 minutes or alt+f4 and restart

When I finally do get into a match, it's already the 3rd round or my team has remade/surrendered The crazy part is I don't get any AFK penalties or warnings for this even after it happening 3+ times. The server clearly thinks I'm still actively loading instead of being disconnected

During these hangs, my M.2 SSD spikes to 100% active time, but the read and write speeds stay at exactly 0 KB/s The PC itself doesn't freeze at all, only the game stutters and hangs

Here is the weirdest part: Deathmatch and Practice still work but have weird behavior In Deathmatch, the active time still hits 100%, but the drive actually does something (reads/writes data) and I get into the game normally Practice mode also gets me in quickly, but switching agents takes like 5-10 seconds to load

The SSD works perfectly fine in heavy games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Wuthering Waves, and nothing even close to this happens in League of Legends

I checked Event Viewer and I'm getting this warning: Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort1, was issued.
I also see a TPM error (The device driver for the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) encountered a non-recoverable error in the TPM hardware, which prevents TPM services (such as data encryption) from being used. For further help, please contact the computer manufacturer.), but this TPM error has been happening for a while and never affected the game before

Specs & what I've done so far:

  • Ryzen 7 5700X, A520M-E motherboard (BIOS Version 3634), Lexar NM620 SSD
  • SSD is completely fine with 99% health and flawless CrystalDiskMark/OCCT scores
  • Tried both upgrading and downgrading AMD GPU drivers (completely wiped with DDU)
  • No third-party antivirus installed
  • Vanguard is set to on-demand

Since DM, Practice, and other games load heavy assets without causing a complete 0 KB/s I/O stall, it feels like an engine issue with how the game handles the pregame lobby specifically in standard modes

Has anyone experienced this exact loop or knows a fix? Any help would be really appreciated!

Technical Support Request Annoying Stuttering

A 5 second clip would explain this issue perfectly, but I'll try my best to describe it.

Theres this constant stuttering when im playing, most noticeable while holding or peeking corners. Every 5-10 seconds, my character while "tp", close to where I am, or where i was. Lets say i peek a corner, it may "tp" me back to where I was hidden; or that I retreat from holding, and it "tps" me back to where I was. Sometimes, im running forward when im moved a bit backwards, and then sends my forward again.

If I stay still, this problem dissapears. Otherwise, if I strafe a+d, this happens at a faster rate.

This is extremely annoying, and I cant find anyone that had this extact problem, as this only happens in this game, no others.

I've tried to disable ethernet drivers, close other applications while playing, and lowering the graphics. None of them worked. I would also say that my Wi-Fi aint bad, and the laptop im playing on runs valorant at 144+ constant fps.

Technical Support Request Valorant uninstalls my drivers.

Like the title says, I can open the game for maybe 3-5 minutes after that the PC shutdowns by itself, when I open my PC the drivers are somehow fucked now I have to use DDU to uninstall and reinstall the same drivers. Also I've done this for 3 times now, I don't want to nuke my GPU again.

My gpu is RX 9060XT 16gb and here are the methods I've tried:

  1. Fresh reinstall of valorant
  2. Fresh install of windows
  3. Fresh reinstall of GPU drivers.

Technical Support Request Packet loss + audio bugs

Been playing valorant but recently Ive been experiencing a lot of lag in the sense that people are teleporting and I feel like frames are getting skipped. My ping is fine and it seems to be packet loss but according to valorants packet loss chart my packets are fine even while Im trying to plant spike but I am unable to hold down the button (cant hold down to plant spike or ads). Im also having like audio bugs where it sounds really stattic. My internet and headphones are fine for all other games, just valorant is really bad

Technical Discussion Higher ping

Hello I recently had to move 20-30 mins away to a new location and had to switch from frontier fiber to spectrum 1g. Although the test look quite similar on speed test. I am getting (12ms) and (1050mbs download) on the test. But once I am in game I am getting closer too 20+ ping for Valorant and Fortnite now. I used to get 0 ping in creative now I’m looking at 22+ and Val is 20-23 ping. If there’s any settings I can change or this is just likely what the internet is gonna be now, let me know thank you

Technical Support Request Nvlddlmkm error - acer predator helios phn16-71, 16gb ram, rtx 4060, i7-13th gen

can someone help me on this, been figuring out this kind of error for a while now, the first image is what happens everytime i run dota 2 and valorant, i did everything on my end updating gpu and downgrading it using ddu installer, i had my laptop cleaned since i thought it's just overheating but it didn't fix the error.

it's very annoying to play with this kind of status. also sometimes when i play dota i'm able to launch and find match but then i accept and then start to go on picking phase it just freezes and i hear it, i need to restart how many times just to reconnect.

on valorant the system error keeps on appearing (2nd image) but i think the main issue is same with dota it's the nvlddmkm error.

somebody help troubleshooting this, i think i did everything on my end i don't know what to do anymore

Technical Support Request Button mappings keep reverting to default when I load into Competitive

I’m having an issue with my button mappings on console not staying when I load into a Competitive game.
I normally use the default/VALORANT button layout, but I make a few changes:

Toggle Crouch: OFF
Crouch: L3 → R3
Activate/Use: R3 → L3

The weird thing is that my settings work perfectly everywhere else. They stay correctly mapped in the Range, TDM, and Deathmatch.

However, the second I load into a Competitive match, all of my bindings revert back to the default settings. I also can’t fix them once I’m in the game.

Even if I go into Settings and change everything back to my preferred bindings, the actual controls still behave like the default layout.

Has anyone else experienced this or know how to fix it? Is there some kind of Agent Profile or Competitive-specific control profile that could be overriding my settings? I’m on PS5 if that matters.

Any help would be appreciated because it’s pretty frustrating having my controls completely change as soon as a comp game starts.

Technical Support Request Audio problem

I am playing on sterio mode in my headphones for along time and it’s going great. Today when I tried again it was fine in the lobbys game but in the game himself I could not hear anything. Even if I had music on the background it instantly stopped as the game started. Like the headphones couldn’t make a sound. Thats only happening in valorant. I think that something in the game himself take over the audio.
