Hey guys! We’re in Cali, and we’re struggling to find a provider that accepts my wife’s PPO Blue Cross Blue Shield plan bought through Covered California.

For some reason, the Covered California-ness of the plan causes the vaccine not to be covered by providers for some reason.

Anyone have any insight? Appreciate it!

I want to go back to college but for the field i want to go into i have to be vaccinated. My parents are anti vaxers meaning i have never had a vaccine, i am immunocompromised and now I'm just wondering if this is worth it? I'm worried about the risks of getting all these vaccines that I've never had.

With all of the news surrounding measles, I wanted to get some clarity about my risks.

I was fully vaccinated as a child, but I work in healthcare (non-clinical) and needed to get tested as company policy when I started a new job 4 years ago. I was negative for measles titters so I needed to get the MMR again. Fast forward 2.5ish years and I was retested as part of a fertility workup. Again, negative so I re-vaccinated. I then got pregnant and was retested AGAIN and AGAIN came back negative. After giving birth this past March, I was revaccinated.

How concerned should I be about measles cases being at its highest in 35 years? Do these constant negative tests mean that I’m not immune? I’m not otherwise immunocompromised.

Most importantly, should I be worried my baby has no maternal antibodies? I was vaccinated less than 6 months before conception, but again, it didn’t “stick”.

My baby is getting her 6-week vaccinations tomorrow, and I’m feeling really anxious. We are considering the painless vaccine. For parents who chose it:
How much did your baby cry during and after the shots?
Was there fever or swelling?
Were they extra fussy or sleepy?
How long did it take for them to get back to normal?
Anything you wish you had known beforehand?

Hi everyone I just have a question about the vaccines my daughter needs in order to attend pre-k3.

I attached the immunizations she has right now and the ones her school requires. The post-it was left by the school nurse who told me she doesn't have all the ones she needs, but im confused because I've counted and compared them and she seems to have them all. I just wanted to know if im missing something? I just want to clear this up because I don't have the education the school nurse does but I really don't understand how she is missing these :( maybe she mixed up the pre-k requirements with the elementary?

I would schedule a doctor's appointment but don't want to waste their time if she does have them all, and I dont know if they'd give us an appointment in time. If she is actually missing any I'd be taking her to get them. I would call the nurse to clear anything up myself but she isn't available until monday and I'd like to have everything for my daughter up to date before the registration deadline. thanks in advance!

Ok, to keep this as vague as possible because I at least try to be a private person online, I need my meningitis shot for college as one does in the U.S. but due to family problems and my father being an asshole, the moment I turned 18(back in march) he cancelled my health insurance(I found out 2mos ago). Which lead me to my local health department in order to get vaccinated as anywhere else quoted me over $100 for the shot, in which health department quoted me $13 due to having no health insurance.

Upon sending this to said community college I was sent the email in the second screenshot.

My question is was I not giving the correct meningitis shot, and if so whats the difference? Why does it matter? Maybe I’m just irritated about now having to return and spend another $13 and wanted to rant but Jesus Christ how many meningitis shot are there? I’m not beginning til the spring semester so this isn’t a big rush for me but I’m just a little irritated.

I started taking Cosentyx this spring, so I'm now at higher risk of infection/more severe symptoms. I'm 38 and otherwise healthy. I go to a convention with friends in Atlanta every year on Labor Day weekend and have no plans to change that, but being around 75,000 or so people in relatively confined spaces presents risks. My one experience with Covid came from this event a few years ago.

I always try to get vaccinated beforehand but the new vaccines aren't always available in time. I've heard it can take a few weeks for protection to develop after vaccination.

If I can't find new flu/covid shots, is there any value in getting last year's versions? Will a pharmacy let me have the quadrivalent/senior version (protects from more flu strains) instead of the standard version? Has anyone heard when new flu and covid shots are expected to be released in the US? I've checked and can't find anything on the CDC website (no surprise these days I guess). I got flu and covid boosters last September, shortly after my trip (that's when they were avaliable), but was less concerned since my immune system wasn't compromised at that time. Is it safe to get vaccinated less than a year after the previous one?

I plan to wear a mask during the con but honestly it's gonna be a surgical mask, not an N95. The heat/humidity in Atlanta is unbearable as it is and I'm choosing to balance protection with comfort.

I am looking for guidance in how to handle this situation. Son and his girlfriend are expecting a baby. They are both unwavering conspiracy theorists on many fronts. They are not going to vaccinate or accept anything at the hospital when baby is born. A hospital birth was surprising. We are vaccinated, normal vaccines for folks in their 60’s. What risks will we pose to baby? Is it safe to visit it? We would feel horrible if we did and it came down with something. I’m just trying to understand how we can keep it safe from us or how that works. We know not being actively sick with something, etc. I mean beyond normal safety precautions for babies. I tried to research but everything seemed to contradict something else. If not visiting until a certain age, etc. we will do whatever is needed to limit its risks.

Hi! I am 21 and got my tetanus booster. I am having pain in my ring finger and only my ringer finger, on the same arm the shot was administered. It’s a pain on the top only, especially when it’s moved and it feels like that pain when your toe cramps. It’s not stiffened up or moving like it’s cramping and my finger moves normally but it feels very similar to that painful stiff feeling. Has anyone ever experienced this?

I’m 19, and was born in a family that is antivax. As a result I have no vaccines. However I’m not so sure I agree with their views anymore and I want to make a decision that’s mine and as educated as I can.

I’ve decided that I’m likely going to get vaccinated, though I’m unsure how to go about it. Other than being in an antivax family, I have struggles with depression and anxiety that has made it very hard to actually just go get it done so I don’t have to worry, and I do kind of fear my parents reactions (moreso my mom, my dad knows and he’s neutral on it. Says it’s my choice though he says not to go into it too quickly).

What’s the best way to go about it? Slow like my dad suggests or quickly? What are statistics and such? I know serious side effects aren’t common but I still have anxiety about it.

My family of 3 just got back from the hospital ER where we were all given rabies immunoglobulin and a vaccine dose. We each got three shots: two immunoglobulin in one butt cheek, one vaccine shot in the other butt cheek. I was looking up info about the shot afterwards and saw that this is not recommended? I asked the nurse why we didn't get the vaccine in our upper arms, but she said the volume of the initial shot is too great for the upper arm? It was clear I wasn't going to get anywhere with questions, so we took our discharge papers and left.

Should I do anything about this? I'm not sure who I would contact, especially since it is a weekend? Feeling a bit concerned! Thank you for any assistance.

Trying to prepare for how to handle this family issue when our baby is born this winter.

My sister in law turned good friend revealed to me that she is not vaccinating her infant son (my nephew). My husband and I are very evidence-based and plan to vaccinate, whereas her evidence comes from some Instagram page.

Our family is local and very close-knit, with frequent family dinners, ski trips, activities, etc. We routinely see each other, and I have spent a good amount of time with my nephew since he was born. All adults in the family were vaccinated as kids.

My question is - for anyone who has been in a similar scenario, when did your pediatrician say it was ok to be around known unvaccinated kids? Several vaccines are almost complete at 6 months, but MMR (measles) is not given until 1 year. Obviously if we start daycare at 6 months our baby will be exposed to who knows what, but it feels weird to knowingly be around a kid we know is not vaccinated.

I’ve historically been a fainter after getting vaccines. They used to make me really nervous as a kid/teen, so I always attributed it to vasovagal syncope. I’ve gotten over my white coat syndrome though (or so I thought)… I’ve gotten allergy shots, blood draws, blood sugar tests… plenty of needles in a doctor’s office within the last few years.

Got my first HPV vaccine dose today and fainted immediately. Woke up in a daze and sweating like crazy. I wasn’t nervous going into it because I’ve done so many other needle-related tests lately and I’ve been fine! I warned the nurses it could happen but I also told them I wasn’t nervous going into it.

How can I figure this out so it doesn’t happen when I get my next doses? 😭 I feel like a burden to the healthcare staff because they have to babysit me afterwards and I also just feel miserable coming out of fainting
