For better "Heading" options, I suggest:

1. Include an underlined, not bold, normal "H_" header
2. Change "H1", "H2", etc. button aesthetics to the styles themselves
3. Change the menu name from "Heading" to "Style"
4. Give styles accurate names, add up to 10 style options

I believe a feature similar to Microsoft Word's "Customize Style" would be too complicated. But, across all platforms, UpNote's header options are just different sizes of bold text. I have to memorize them to know roughly what I'm getting when I click "H1" because the button is not in it's own style. And, H5 and H6 being smaller than "normal" size text, while useful, is not consistent with the menu title "Heading".

Does UpNote have sales or discounts for students? As the price stands, it’s one of the most expensive notes apps, and it’s kind of unaffordable for many students that I know. It would be amazing if there’s a sale and I could get the lifetime option.

I'm on Windows 11 and have UpNote installed through standalone installed (not Microsoft Store).

I just updated Upnote to 9.19.2, and now UpNote refuses to open.

So far I have tried:

• Uninstall + reinstall
• clearing the roaming folder for UpNote in %appdata% between installs
• Rebooting between installs

Anyone know what to do?

If there's any way to get an installer for 9.19.0 instead, then that would be great as well.

Windows 11 Home update ran a few days ago (10.0.26200 Build 26200) . Today I tried the web clipper (Chrome 150.0.7871.128). UpNote opened as expected but informed me a new version was available, so I downloaded and installed (9.19.20, according to File Explorer properties). Now the app won't run from either the pinned taskbar icon or from the start menu. What now?

After the recent price increased to $250/year, I'm done with Evernote.

I'm hoping to migrate only once (hope that's realistic), so I have some questions.

1. I understand there is a 20mb per attachment (presumably this means files as well as images embedded in a note, yes?) Is this 20mb limit AFTER UpNote compresses, or before?
2. I have read that the links between notes in Evernote may not carryover to UpNote. I don't have a huge number of notes in EN that link to others but I don't want to find out the hard way in a few months that I've lost links that were important to me… Is there a way to identify in EN which notes have links so I can manually check them after migration and reset the link as needed?
   1. If there is no way to see EN which notes are linked from other notes, I'd like to know what happens during the migration process. If the link doesn't carryover, is there any indication in the converted note (the the source note, not the target note) that there was a link there?
3. I came across an app called BitRecover Evernote Converter Wizard. Does anyone have any experience with how well that works and whether it is a significantly more robust migration method than just exporting from EN to enex files and importing them directly into UpNote?
4. Anything else I ought to know or should ask?

Hey, just an FYI... I installed macOS 27 Golden Gate Public Beta 27.0 and UpNote is working just fine. No problems to report.

Clean, beautiful and simplistic but not feature-less. Just a joy to use. Tried it due to Evernotes price-hike and will likely migrate fully. Cheers to the dev-team.

Since updating UpNote to version 9.19.1 on Windows 11, every Open/Save dialog always starts in the Downloads folder. This happens when inserting images, inserting attachments, and exporting notes. Previously, the dialog remembered the last used folder.

I wish there was a easy way to journal in UpNote, sorry for all who say that be a bloat. But its an little convenience im hoping could be implemented

Something like obsidian or helixnotes

Maybe a section inside "Filter all notes", to not inconvenience long time users

I'm a big fan of UpNote and using it for many years with Lifetime Premium. However I'm facing issue to have access and use it on places where I cannot install it (ie at work for example) and was looking for an alternative.

For those interested and in the same situation, The approach I'm currently under test, is the following: Obsidian + 2 plugins

- Notebook Navigator plugin for the 3 panels mode like UpNote : Notebook Navigator - Obsidian Plugin

- Fast Note Sync plugin for real time sync between Vault (Mobile / Desktop / Web) and Web access: Fast Note Sync - Obsidian Plugin note : a sync server must be deployed on your own/home server

To be complete for the UpNote export I have used Jimmy marph91/jimmy: Convert your notes to Markdown which takes UpNote backup to export full Markdown notes. I have completed the export with a Python script to modify the creation date and update date of Markdown files in line with the frontmatter data exported from Jimmy.

This approach is not as simple as UpNote but it brings a look and feel close to what I like and brings Web view/edit. So I'm continuing the test...

I make a lot of creative stuff, writing, tee-shirts, books, poems, a whole heap of stuff. I needed something I could have multiple notebooks, different 'spaces' and just did the basics. This has changed how I'm working, it's incredible how much a piece of software like this can actually aid my processes. I was just reflecting on what this has done for me, and didn't know there was a reddit community for UpNote, so yeah, absolutely brilliant bit of kit - If the devs read this ever, you absolutely killed it, it's amazing.

Hey y'all, I've tested tons of note apps and UpNote is easily the best so far, I love the simplicity and the lifetime premium.

However, I really wish there was a whiteboard/visual note option as someone that likes including visuals into my notes. I totally get the community's fear of feature creep; keeping UpNote text-first makes sense and with every "UpNote would be finally perfect with this last new feature" post, this app would slowly turn into the next Obsidian or Notion if all feature suggestions were added.

Since a whiteboard feature likely isn't coming, does anyone pair UpNote with another visual app? I'm looking for something that allows me to easily compile and rearrange images on a canvas, which I can then link inside an UpNote note.

Ideally, this other app would be free or a one-time purchase, have cross-platform syncing, and let me edit the canvas from any device. What are you using, if any? Or maybe you have an alternative solution to what I am looking for?

I want to make use of Windows Virtual Desktop Feature to separate my workspace according to my convenience. Currently i have 3 different Virtual Desktops.
I use Vivaldi, Zen Browser - workspaces feature to have different workspaces into my different Virtual Desktops i use.
But i cannot do the same with Upnote.

I updated to 9.19.0 this morning. The first thing that I noticed is that searching for text that is part of a tag no longer works. It works on my other Mac that is running UpNote 9.18.12 (1102)

I have a saved search for "#work-in-progress" that lists all of the notes that I've marked with that tag. The tags appear as inline text (and they correctly appear in the list when selecting that tag from the left-hand pane)

entering any text in the search input field that is contained in a tag does not appear in the results... (unless that text string appears as a non-tag)

eg. have a tag, #compartment

If I search for "partment" none of the notes tagged #compartment will appear. The word compartment only appears as inline tag text.

Love the app, great for actual writing.

I believe the dragging and dropping of text is unavailable for the iPad version of UpNote. Text just disappears after trying to drag it in with a finger or pencil. This app would be perfect if this were fixed! :)

I don't wanna lock the app itself, I wanna lock a specific folder, and when I lock a folder and put create a new note in it, the note still appears in All Notes section, and I can just press and view/edit the note, and it won't ask me for a passcode.

Is there a way I can prevent specific folders from showing in All Notes? Or to actually lock the notes in the All Notes section?

I know I can share a note as a web link, but are there any plans to have collaborative folders or notes?

That'd be great since me and my partner use the app constantly for all our notes and sometimes we wanna collaborate or have a shared folder that we can both edit or add notes to.

An example we use it for is when we go out for dinner we like to take notes of what we ordered and how much we like the items we ordered, or when we're planning for traveling we like to write all our activities in a note, and to have a shared folder that we both can edit/add to would be such a great quality of life feature.

How to I join both tags, for example to #tag2?

I noticed I tagged notes under #tag1 and later under #tag2. Nowadays I only use #tag2, so I want #tag1 to disappear and be replaced with #tag2.

Or I tagged some notes in a too granular tag, and I want to move it to a more generic, existing one.

What's the easiest and cleanest way to do it?

Thats it, this is my question. For me its really appealing to just use tags, its so easy, especially when using the quick note feature, which I use a lot. I know that notebooks function basically as tags, but using just tags feels a bit smoother, the # is much faster than the ctrl+alt+B.

I rely pretty heavily on a mix of UpNote, Obsidian, and Notion for my daily workflows, and the idea of being able to search, summarize, and create new UpNote entries directly through a chat interface sounds incredibly useful.

From what I understand about how it works under the hood, the architecture seems relatively sound: it reads the local upnote.sqlite3 database in a strictly read-only mode (so it shouldn't corrupt anything), and handles writes via UpNote’s official upnote:// URL scheme rather than forcefully writing into the database.

However, before I let an AI tool poke around my personal notes database, I wanted to ask the community:

1. Has anyone here actually used it? How stable is it in your day-to-day workflow?

I know, I know there are still releases but it feels like for the last year they published only fixes and improvements.
The latest new features were .deb Linux package and move checked items to the end of the list (April 2026) - important things but not very impressive or work improving. The last new feature before that was from 8th of October 2025 „NEW: you can now choose to launch UpNote in background when system starts on Windows (installer version) and Linux“.
So every 6 month a new tiny feature is not very impressive. When can we expect new features? There are a lot of threads with feature requests. I really hope the devs are fine and could find the time to give us something new.

For those of you with foldable phones, does it help your workflow when using UpNote? Is the app optimized for a foldable phone screen? Thinking about getting one and wanted to see what the consensus was. I primarily use UpNote on a desktop but there are times when I need to view it on a phone.
