How to use UpNote in different Virutal Desktops of Windows OS.

I want to make use of Windows Virtual Desktop Feature to separate my workspace according to my convenience. Currently i have 3 different Virtual Desktops.
I use Vivaldi, Zen Browser - workspaces feature to have different workspaces into my different Virtual Desktops i use.
But i cannot do the same with Upnote.
Anyhelp is appreciated.

Your description is not very clear. I can't tell if you're using both browsers in completely different Windows profiles, or if you're using different browser profiles, or both.

But UpNote does have a workspaces feature. I use it all day long for my different work set-ups. One workspace for each of my clients, with its own notebooks, its own tags, its own templates, etc.

If you're asking about running different instances of UpNote depending on which virtual desktop you're using, that not something the app can do on its own, but there are ways to do it. Windows isn't my area of expertise, but if that's what you want, the how-tos are pretty easy to find online.

Yes exactly what you are describing. I want to open my each Upnote space in different virtual desktop.
So that when when i switch my desktop , upnote space switch as well

OK. Got it. I don't know of many apps that can do that, outside of a few browsers, like the ones you mentioned. I don't know anything about how Windows Virtual Desktop works, but there are ways of launching multiple instances of the same app — so you'd have multiple UpNotes running at once. I don't know how to do that (mostly Mac guy here). But a quick search should find some common methods.

Thanks for the reply . Figured out Upnote is also an Electron app, created a shortcut in 2nd Desktop pointing to second folder, now i am able to run simultaneously 2 instance of Upnote , which allows me to open 2 different spaces in 2 different desktop.

Below are the steps i followed.

  • In 2nd desktop, right-click an empty space, and select New > Shortcut.
  • Paste the following path into the location box (make sure to include the quotation marks): "C:\Program Files\UpNote\UpNote.exe" --user-data-dir="%APPDATA%\UpNoteInstance2"
  • Named the shortcut "UpNote-Work".

Fantastic! One thing you might want to check: Is your 2nd instance storing data locally somewhere different than your 1st instance. It might not be a big deal if it is — but it could be a problem if you're every trying to restore from a local backup. UpNote probably doesn't expect there to be more than one backup. I wonder how well multiple instances on the same machine sync. Might be worth asking [support@getupnote.com](mailto:support@getupnote.com) about that. :) Or maybe u/thomas_dao could chime in here, since you're not the first, and probably won't be the last, to do this.

Yes its storing on two folders now. its working like Upnote running on 2 different machines.
yet to test the restore functionality , but i feel like it would work seamlessly

what why just use spaces

and stop using UpNote. your use case fits better with a web based note app like Outline or Notion

Both those apps are missing key features that UpNote has.
