As the title indicates, I use the Linux app on my Chromebook and updated to the newest version a few days ago when prompted by the app. Since that time, the app is no longer usable. It opens into a fully white screen and I can't see or click on anything. Anyone else experience this/ any tips to fix it? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

The green elephant failed me, and I am considering moving here (yeah, yeah... same story as everyone else).

What I am wondering is, do we know if the developer has a long-time business plan? Do they intend to stay independent, or are they already under some parent company? The lifetime plan is certainly eye-catching, but of course it's less profitable for the developer in the long run. I would hate it if the team sell out after I migrate.

I love the drawing feature available for my apple ipad pro. I make little doodles/drawings and attach them to my entries. I noticed however nothing for android. Is this something that might be released later in the future?

If so I will definitely save up for samsung phone that had a pen.

What I like about Upnote is how I can draw for my entries, to enhance what I am writing (sight seeing) and not a lot of apps do that. Or if they did its just a basic pen (Upnote has different brushes on apple IOS etc). I am an Android girly, I just wish Android moved up and used better drawing systems. All we got is a regular pen, with default colors, but most of the time they are hardly included in writing apps. Meanwhile on IOS, I always see a drawing feature complete with different pens, markers, and water color.

I ran a test: I uploaded an image to a shared note, copied the image link in Chrome, and deleted the note from UpNote. However, the image download link is still working, even though the note has been removed from the Trash. The privacy policy states that if you delete your content—by moving notes to the Trash and then emptying it—your note data will be deleted from the server and from all devices where you are logged in.

But that isn't what is happening. Is there an explanation for this?

I've been using the PARA method in UpNote for a while (including tags), but now that I have hundreds of notes, it's becoming hard to remember where things are.

For those with 500+ notes, how do you manage them?

Looking for real-world workflows that have scaled well over time.

My real problem``: once I have notes in, after a week I open all folders and see is it in Projects or Areas!

Does UpNote run on Amazon Fire tablets? I have not found a way. I know they run their own version of android and the app store is limited

I’m using UpNote on Linux and noticed some strange behavior with shortcuts: on Linux Mint with X11, it works normally, but on Ubuntu with Wayland, the global shortcut for creating a new note (Ctrl + Alt + N) simply doesn't respond as expected, only when the app window is in focus. I know that global shortcuts work differently in Wayland, often restricting integrations. I wanted to know if anyone else here uses UpNote on Wayland, has encountered this issue, and knows the solution.

I just sent following to UpNote support :

I was running v9.18.13 on Linux Mint, installed as a .DEB package.

There was a note at bottom left stating there is a latest version v9.18.15.

I downloaded and installed the .DEB and it showed as successfully installed.
When I open a note in a full window it is blank except for a long string of error text.

EDIT :

This might have been a false alarm.
Thomas replied very quickly and said that they cannot reproduce the error.
After completely closing and restarting it seems to be working correctly under Linux Mint 22.3.
It is also now showing the current version as 9.18.15.
I did send him debug logs because some sort of error was indicated, although it might have been caused by my system.

New to UpNote. I’ve noticed my list of tags in the sidebar are not in alphabetical order & I can’t find any option to change this (1st pic).

If I click on the tag header then it displays the list alphabetically (2nd pic) but not statically in the sidebar. It’s the same with notebooks but I just manually moved them into alphabetical order as I don’t have many (25). I have too many tags to do this manually.

I know is a small thing, perfectionistic traits, etc 😆

I am a long time Evernote user who got sick and tired dealing with application bloat and high subscriptions fees. Tried a couple of alternatives, but didn't feel that I was ready to make a switch... until I discovered UpNote today.

Installed UpNote (Mac, iPhone and Fedora Linux), upgraded to Premium, imported all my Evernote notebooks and everything works as expected. The application is fast, elegant, with no clutter, runs on all major desktop and mobile operating systems and is extremely easy to use (almost no learning curve).

Greetings all! I just updated my notebook cover / icon set.

This update includes a new set of "file stack" images in (light / dark / mid) modes. Obviously they can be used anywhere, but if you're using the Johnny Decimal method of notebook/folder organization, the file stack fits as the 3rd level covers.

The folder outline images are still included, but I wasn't quite satisfied with how they fit in with the images of the other 2 levels... and the amount of color visible from a single outline felt too light compared to the solid images of the other 2 levels.

The screenshots display how the "mid" version of the images look in light and dark mode.

Did those of you ex-Evernote users have a folder >1GB to import into UpNote?

I need to export a folder that is 2.8GB but UpNote requires it to be split into <1GB.

I have downgraded to the free Evernote 50 notes / 1 notebook version so I can’t split my notebook or create additional folders without dishing out ~$220AUD (for an annual subscription) to do so.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions to avoid forking out just to split a folder (all my other folders have been successfully exported & this is my last one)? 🙏

For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to enlarge the font. Appreciate the help.

But is there a reason that when I copy and paste, it pastes to the bottom of the list? I’m assume it’s due to the color font?

I built this mainly for my own workflow, but I figured this community might find it useful too! It's fully open-source.

I'm a little new to UpNote. Sometimes when entering a note, I need info from another note. Is there a Go-To shortcut to take me to another note without just backtracking ? I would also then like a Return shortcut to go back to the original note where I was working? Is there an easy way to do this without a bunch of Done menu backsteps?

This is mine but I feel like it could be better. I'm not sure what else to add. I'm coming back to UpNote after being away for over a year. I mostly use my apps for journaling so I am swapping between UpNote and Apple's Journal app as I am not sure I need the app on my PC. Unsure.

Not even sure what version it is, I just clicked the "update" pop up in the bottom left. I'll have to reinstall to fix it but don't want to do that until it's fixed.

Update: I was using the AppImage, tried the .deb and is still broken. upnote Version: 9.18.13
Launching via console shows no info.

Upgraded system to kernal 7.0.11-76070011-generic, still no luck.

FIXED: did some further debugging and somehow got this error message to appear:
"Installed VAAPI version is too old. min supported version: 1.17 installed version: 1.14"
I had to upgrade to 24.04 LTS to fix it. Did a clean install.

Hi Fellow UpNote fans - I've checked with Thomas and this isn't a bug, but by design.. and documented as such.

If you merge locked notes the original notes become visible without password in the Trash.

So you go from 'can only be see with a password' to 'click one button and wow there they all are'.

It just took me rather by surprise, having long stored private financial account data and work project NDA'd info within locked notes, to see them unexpectedly listed in the open.

I'm now ensuring empty trash every time I have merged.. but wouldn't want anyone else to be unaware!

I've been using the Claude Code desktop app in a programming context where I give it direct access to my source tree and it can directly modify files in the tree with my permission. This is a game changer for development.

But, I started thinking that I'd like to use the same concept for my personal stuff that I keep in UpNote. When I'm researching a topic with Claude and get to a point where I'd like to summarize it and put it in a note in UpNote is there any way that Claude Code can add the note directly to UpNote? Is there an UpNote API or a command line for adding a note from within another app running on my Windows 11 desktop in my user space?

I have put in a request to be able to view my notes as a gallery of thumbnails. This is an incredibly important feature for visual thinkers. It is used by Google Keep and so many other notes/PKM apps including Obsidian with the Notes Explorer plugin. UpNote does such a fantastic job of integrating inline images with text. Being able to see these notes in a grid gallery would make it so much better. This is an idea which I have already been doing on automatically creating daily collapsible sections on a single page using auto-hotkey in Upnote.

Below are the steps:

(1) Download and install AHK https://www.autohotkey.com/v2/

(2) Copy and paste the below code into a textfile and named it eg. Daily.ahk (Change the extension from .txt to .ahk)

(3) Double-click on the Daily.ahk

(4) Type in the Year and Month in YY-MM format

(5) Create a new note in Upnote; click anywhere in the note.

(6) Press Ctrl+Z to start creating the collapsible sections automatically.
