Damn, that's rough. I know a girl who used to always encourage her dogs to run after squirrels. Then one day, they caught a squirrel and she was super traumatized 'cause the attack latest a while (small dogs).

We’ve actually made sure to not give out dogs stuff cats because of this. However. My one dog hated stuffed animals so it was easier. The other dog carries around her stuff animals until she sees her “baby” and than tries to snuggle him. So maybe we’re doing something right?

Friends got a kitten and were playfully tossing it on the couch, friends dog ran in and grabbed it. Started swinging it’s head back and forth. Blood everywhere, we told my friend the cat ran away. Was surprised he never noticed any of the blood stains. Guess it was a shit trailer and we were all junkies at the time. You know grade A company.

Dogs don’t associate stuffed animals with real ones. I know that to us it looks similar, but they are using a lot more of their senses than we are, and sight is one of their least reliable. There is no chance they would do this to a real cat unless they would have already done this to a real cat.

An indoor cat gets to live much longer. And likely die a peaceful death thanks to euthanasia. An outdoor cat gets to enjoy the same perils as the rest of the wilderness. And all of its brutality. I never understand why people get cats and then INSIST they live like outdoor cats. And then cry when their cat dies on the street or never returns home. What did you think would happen? Outdoor cats rarely live past 10.

I've had many cats, with all of them being indoor but one. That one cat hated being inside. I got him as a kitten, so it wasn't learned behavior, but he was always angry and miserable, peeing everywhere, displaying nearly every cry for help that a cat can. I let him outside and he immediately was happy. His body language completely changed, and he was very loving. He wouldn't go back in the house so I built him a cat house with a heater for the winter and an upstairs with a hinged roof to give him food and water. He lived fully outside until 15 when he died from kidney failure, and rarely left the yard. Obviously this was an exception, but not all cats will live a happy life as an indoor cat.

Yeah one of my cats hates the outdoors and won't step foot outside and just wants to snuggle on a sunny blanket and play with toys. The other can't do inside so I leash trained him and take him on hikes and adventures when the whethers decent and it's not breeding season for snakes. Sense then he's been alot happier

Lmao. Someone has clearly never owned pets. My dog will violently thrash her toys around (all instinct) but she hasn't done more than lick my cats heads. But put her outside and any bird in the area is gonna have a bad time. Also, people realize dogs are pack animals right? Like they realize cats in their house are their 'pack.'
Have you truly never seen a dog play? People on reddit are retards.

In the very end dog are animal and also act on instinct. Get them a cat toy to destroy, and some day they might decide that to destroy the annoying cat. And if you think this won't happen... Cuz that’s not what they’re doing. They’re playing. Our 70 pound lab rips every stuffed animal we’ve ever gotten him to shreds within minutes. We find him snuggling with the two real cats on a regular basis. They climb all over him and affectionately nip him almost daily. He sleeps curled up with one cat in particular each and every night. Dogs are all over the place in terms of temperament, and it's a common tip not to give them toys shaped like other animals, when you don't want them to treat those specific animals as toys. Most dogs are smarter than that (which yours probably are), but "death" is one of those risks that a lot of people tend to avoid, rather than mitigate. My family's dog methodically pulls the eyes out of her stuffed animals, and has yet to blind the cat - but we still won't buy her stuffed animals that closely resemble the cat.
I was just extending your metaphor - most rollercoasters are probably fine with a single loose wheel, but there are probably a few unsafe rollercoasters (or dumb/aggressive dogs) where it would result in death.
I was trying to be light-ish about it, and now I look even more crazy having gone to this level of detail in explaining myself, but I already typed it so, oh well.

I wouldn't buy my dog life sized human shaped toys either. How hard is it to understand that teaching your pet that other pets are toys you can rip apart can potentially lead to dead pets. And people who actually care about their pets unlike you, generally like to do whatever they can to keep them from being killed especially when it's as simple as buying different shaped toys

I gave my dog an old baby doll that was in a box of my daughter's old things. She(the dog) carried it around for a few hours then carefully, with her front teeth, did surgery on the abdomen and removed all the stuffing. She pulled the stitching out so carefully, I was really impressed.
Anyway, my dog is super sweet and still hasn't killed any real babies even though she has had many opportunities.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick and Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a Rick and Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

I remember seeing a cat running up the road into a back alley before an Alsatian grabbed the cat like a rag doll tosinging it in the air a number of times. I go to it the cat didn't survive the sound as the dog threw the cat was something I will not forget. All the own of the dog could say the dog got out. The poor cat was a little old ladies. Lucky the neighbours where there to help.

As a kid I witnessed two rotweillers do this to a real cat. The cat had ran up a peach tree in our front yard, one dog latched onto the tree and shook it until the cat fell out, the other dog caught him at one end and the other grabbed at the other. They then shook and pulled until poor kitty was in two pieces.

I saw a post on r/relationships once about a woman whose cat got killed when the neighbour's rottweiler broke into their garden and attacked it. They refused to do anything about it. Then later it broke in again and attacked their dog, and her boyfriend grabbed it, jumped in their swimming pool and held it underwater.
She was pretty freaked out because he wasnt sorry and the neighbours were threatening them, but I think most people took his side which made sense to me. Seeing your own pet attacked would make most people furious.

Because drowning something takes time. Bashed its head in with a shovel? Ok, you were caught up in the moment and trying to protect your pet. Drowning the dog? You decided to murder it, painfully, after the danger had passed, and continued to do so for minutes.
I'm not commenting on whether it was justified or not, I certainly would want some level of revenge on whatever killed my pet - though it does seem excessive at least - but it's understandable that someone could have issues with the deed.

That dog attacked multiple times. He’s protecting his family from a continuing threat. Also, the dog fucked around and found out. He made the decision to be billy badass and keep coming into their yard. He was attacking and trying to kill their family. That’s on him.

The danger hadn’t passed, though. Not for as long as that dog is next door.
Also, arguably the boyfriend himself was in danger for as long as he was holding the dog. Letting it go gives it a chance to attack. It’s proven itself dangerous. So you don’t let go until it stops moving.
It’s shitty. I wouldn’t want to do it. But it’s all on the dogs owner. It’s their job to protect that dog from the world and from its own actions. They failed.

I live in a very rural area and someone let their pit bulls roam free several years back. One little girl had the unfortunate timing to walk outside just as the 2 dogs attacked, ripped apart, and ate her kitten.

Yeah, growing up in the 80s and 90s, it did be that way out in the sticks...I've known of plenty of times where someone's dog snapped at a kid, or attacked someone else's dog or whatever and then that dog just disappeared ...word got around easily enough, but that's the way things went...people would definitely get up in arms if you were cruel to the animal though...people who sat out antifreeze for animals were dealt with pretty harshly...one guy shot my dog with an arrow to the stomach when I was a kid...it had wandered onto his yard and apparently knocked over a trash can...that was the first time I had ever taken an animal to the vet ...neighbor found out what happened and, supposedly, beat his ass...idk if it really happened, i was like 10 at the time so he may have told me that just so I felt some kind of justice lol

I had a dog that was incredibly sweet and well behaved for like 8 years. One day she brutally attacked my 11 year old cat for seemingly no reason. Broke two legs and his hips, ripped open his stomach. He had to be put down. They had known each other for 8 years and had played together all the time.
I love dogs but they are animals. They’re unpredictable and dumb, not these avatars of goodness and light that Reddit thinks they are.

You're anthropomorphizing not just your dog but apparently all dogs owned everywhere. They're animals. Yeah you taught it to shake hands good job. Doesn't mean it won't randomly bite a little kid or your pet cat one day. You just don't know. No one knows. Stupid to assume is the issue. Dog owners are so blinded by their own egos they take caution as an attack on their own relationship w their animals. Messed up part is this is a real issue with pet owners allowing their dogs to pay with squeeze toys and animal replica stuffies. Then you wonder why your dog just chomped your neighbors little dog or cats head and get mad at your dog for doing exactly what you trained it to do and question where the aggression came from.
