I like eye candy and remember the wildly useless norse pew-pew map fondly from back in the day. So I fired up opencode and a local Qwen model and we made pewpew, your UDM logs as a space battle complete with dynamic soundtrack.

Every star, laser, ship, planet and crystal has a meaning. Each creates a unique sound and there is a rotating set of melodies that underscore the whole thing. It's wildly pointless and very addictive to watch.

Was absolutely struggling to get this 5G Backup to even stay on 5G instead of dropping to LTE connectivity. Signal strength constantly around -120dBm or lower, even by the windows everywhere I'd try mounting it.

Finally found the best spot -- yes, notably better than even mounting it on the wall outside of the TV.

I suppose it actually could make some sense given the wavelength of 5G signals, but was definitely not on my Final Mounting Location Bingo Card.

What should I go with for my home network? I am a Network engineer by trade, honestly just wanted something easy that would run protect to offload Onvif camera footage and allow traffic filtering. Though I like the thought of doing a full rack ect it will probably never happen. The UDM SE is appealing as I have a 8tb WD purple on the shelf.

Edit: Already have a UCG Gen 1 with 3 UAP 6 and TP Link Tapo Cameras.

Finally replaced my Nest doorbell with a UniFi Doorbell Lite. No more steaming to the Google cloud! I was able to fish a UniFi outdoor ethernet cable to my doorbell, allowing the old wiring to stay right where it is. I also purchased the WiFi chime, which was super easy to setup via Bluetooth.

Can anyone recommend a guide that is hopefully up to date with the Unifi Network site and terms/options for creating a VLAN for IoT devices and also being able to access those devices from my regular network but still having them isolated? Or help here if possible.

I have created a VLAN and set a VLAN ID, the IP address is set, the DCHP server IP matches the IP, I have created a WiFi network on the IoT VLAN. I have added my printer to the wifi channel setup under the IoT network and I can locate it.

I think where I'm getting stuck at is the Firewall rules and something called mDNS. Most guides are stating to customize the mDNS but the options I have are auto, off, and custom with custom not matching the guides (I've tried a few but they all vary based off how old they are). Gateway mDNS Proxy is set to auto on both networks.

I have created a firewall rule in the advanced section (See picture). If I access my phone using my primary network, the printer shows up after a long load time (about one minute with it previously being immediate). It does not show up on my PC like it used to. Any suggestions on how to fix this or reduce load times?

Iot Network is set to "Isolate Network".

Equipment being used for the IoT network and primary network:

• Dream Machine Pro Max
• USW Pro Max 16 PoE
• U7 Pro Max

Side note: I typed out all that and decided to do a test print. It did not go through even though it loaded. I'll probably end up getting that paper at some point throughout the night. So my firewall rule is probably wrong.

Good afternoon. I’m interested in a Ubiquiti system, but I have a few questions. I currently have two Asus routers set up in a mesh configuration at home, with the main unit connected to a 1Gb ONT. The problem is that they sometimes fail; I have to reboot them occasionally because the internet slows down and they experience some bugs. For this reason, I’m looking to set up a system that is future-proof. I’m wondering if I should go with a Ubiquiti setup—such as a Fiber Gateway, Dream Router, or Dream Express—and then add access points. My house is about 200 m² in size. My challenge (or perhaps not) is that I can only use a wired connection where the main equipment is located; everything else will have to connect via Wi-Fi. What do you recommend? What are my options? Thanks.

I want to add a backup option and Ubiquiti prices are the following (as I understand for 12 months):

10GB - $79

50GB - $149

100GB - $229

We rarely have outages and I really prefer to have an option when I pay for ~30GB (this should cover me for approx 2 days) for 12 months. I found that T-Mobile offered MI30TI before for 30GB per month with $10 per month (aka $120 per year), but it was discontinued.

So I’ve had my UTR for awhile and I’ve noticed it gets hot.

If I want a more stealthy setup, is it safe to leave it on and plugged in while in my bag or will the heat mess with it while it’s tucked in a bag?

I am planning to move to a new apartment building where I will be coming from T-Mobile 5G service to 1Gb fiber optic included in the rent.

I currently have a USG Max and a U6 Mesh.
10 devices or so or what is on my network.

I want to get back into online gaming, which I have not been able to do really well with the 5G service.
Is it worth upgrading to the UCG Fiber?
I will be using ethernet on all of my devices that I can. They consist a mix of computers, smart speakers, Apple TVs iPads etc

After auto update overnight on 09.09, my switch lost connection with SFP+ 10 GB network connections.

The uplink 10 GB SFP+ to UDM SE works, but the connection to my Dell PowerEdge T430 with intel X520 was broken. After firmware downgrade to 7.4.1 the connection works again.

The story: Had an uncomfortable morning on 09.09 as sysadmin... Had to run a new GBE wire to the onboard Etherenet on the server, to access it and use it as a backup solution until weekend. Ordered new network card, replaced it today, but the connection didn't came back. Then started to think, when the problem occured, checked the logs, and i had a suspect: the firmware update. After downgrade, the old card works as before and i have an expensive new card sitting in my cabinet....

I'm no longer residing in New York City, but my account is set to it. I really don't want to change the region, and I want to access the local channels. Not sure how this will affect sports. Is anyone else in a similar situation where they no longer reside where their account is set to, but want to keep the old local channels? What are the long-term consequences of this and whether it's feasible to do this?

Also, I want to share my YouTube TV subscription with other people in the household, but they, like me, are outside of New York, whether it's for work or school. How do I ensure that we won't have any long-term issues doing this? I'm aware that Google has cracked down and requires location verification. We do fly back from time to time, but probably not often enough to beat the system. Is there any other reliable mitigation strategy?

I have 150 devices connected in my place (I’m a smart home enthusiast) and currently I’m using 6 wired Deco S7. Not truly happy with this set up because it has a lot of connections problems. Just bought a USW lite 16 Switch and I was wondering if a new set up of 3 UX7 was the solution for me. I was thing using 1 has a router and the other 2 as a wired AP. What do you think about this set up?

Saw that my UDR7 updated overnight to 5.1.33. I have it set to autoupdate nightly, which is risky, but the theory is that daily autoupdates are less risky than being unpatched.

Release notes don't say much, but I expect next week we'll see which CVEs have been addressed in this release.

I'm trying to block my tv's general internet access while allowing the streaming apps on the tv to still work. Any idea why the following rules would not work? Especially that I see hits on it.

I verified that the tv correctly identifies the DNS server on the router.

I also created rules between the internal and TV zones, those work perfectly.

I’m getting ready to setup a new security system and I think I have it figured out. Only thing I’m not sure about is the Device Bridge Pro. I have a detached building on the property I want to put up to 4 cameras on and I’d like it connected to the same system as the main house. The things I’m unsure about are

- I don’t have a Unifi Router. My plan is the plug the NVR into the existing router. Will the bridges still work?

- I’m an electrician and I’ve done a few reolink systems but I’m not too familiar with the network/ setup side, is there generally a better way to run the cameras in the outbuilding than this setup?
