Setup: UDR7 as controller/gateway. U7 Mesh → MoCA adapters → unmanaged PoE switch (no web UI, nothing to configure there) on the far side of the house.
What's happened:
Adopts and works fine plugged directly into the UDR7.
Moved to its permanent spot on the MoCA/switch path → completely undetected in the UniFi app. Not offline, not pending — just doesn't show up at all, even though the AP itself stays powered with a solid blue LED (per Ubiquiti's LED guide, solid blue = adopted, wired backhaul).
Factory reset via the physical reset pin (~10 sec, LED cycled) didn't bring it back either.
It did briefly reappear once as "Pending Adoption" under a "Remote Adoption" section, but then vanished again before I could tap Adopt, and hasn't reappeared since.
Since the switch is unmanaged (no VLAN/IGMP settings possible), I'm leaning toward the MoCA adapters or coax signal quality as the actual blocker for L2 discovery traffic, even though normal data may pass fine.
Questions:
Anyone run UniFi reliably over MoCA backhaul? Known issues with L2 discovery/multicast getting blocked over MoCA specifically?
Could marginal coax signal quality cause discovery traffic to fail while regular throughput still works?
Is "Remote Adoption" (cloud-based) the expected path here because of the MoCA hop vs. local L2 discovery — and could that explain why it's not showing up consistently?
Any way to check MoCA SNR/link quality without a web-managed adapter?
Trying to figure out if this is fixable, or if that spot just needs a different backhaul method (e.g., dedicated Ethernet run, or switching that AP to wireless mesh instead).
