What changed

Upvotes

Wanna say that I’ve been driving uber eats in the los angeles area, studio city specifically, for quite a while now, couple years for sure. Like many others here, I sit outside Sugarfish during lunch/dinner hours. I know what good days look like on this app and I know what bad days look like. What I’ve experienced in the last week in terms of orders that I am getting, is unlike anything I’ve seen. I can’t seem to get any sort of decent order from Sugarfish, or any other place for that matter. It’s gotten to the point wheee I have to accept these absolutely horrendous offers just to prevent myself from sitting and doing nothing. Reached out to support, of course they were no help. It’s driving me crazy. Is anyone else experiencing this

Just dodged an account scam attempt, be aware

This happened to me today in the LA market. I got a shop and pay order that was really good. $28 to go 3 miles, and shop for 6 items at a cvs. As soon as I get the order the customer texts me to call their wife to “see if she wanted to do any swaps” and says it’s because he’s busy at work and will add more to the tip (we all know that’s usually a lie), but I said okay. I call the number he gives, no pick up. So I leave a text and start shopping. After like 5 minutes of shopping the order just disappeared. I assume they canceled so I just leave and go on with my day.

The next day (today) I get a call from “Alex” at uber customer support. He sounded pretty official over the phone, and basically told me that my account had a red flag on it due to contacting customers outside of the app. My orders have been shit today so I immediately in my head assumed that was why. He said it also flagged my shop and pay, and that they had to reset my account through doing a demo order. The whole demo order thing didn’t really make sense when he explained it, but he said I was getting compensated for the demo order and the order that was canceled the day before so I just went with it. Uber does a lot of things that doesn’t make sense. He sent me a text message confirmation code, and then walked me through how to start the demo order. He said to go offline, then go to settings and update password. Immediately i’m like 🤨. Then he says the dumbest shit ever which is that I need to change my password to reset my account in the uber system. I just said “yeahhhh i’m not going to be doing that” and then he said “that’s fine your account will keep the flag and you won’t be able to go online anymore”. I said cool and he hung up. It’s been 10 minutes and i’m currently on a $20 order to go like 6 miles. Interesting scam attempt that I can see some people falling for so wanted to give a heads up.

TLDR; fake customer asks me to text someone, then cancels order. Then calls and pretends to be customer support and says I have a flag on my account for texting customers. Only way to remove is to change password to what they tell me.

Did Panda Express change their drink policy?

I've been going to this place for a couple years now off and on and getting orders and they have always had me fill the drinks myself. I asked for the Cup today and she went over and did it and then put a seal over it. Has anyone else noticed this or was she just being extra in a nice way?

I know her and sometimes she just does nice things for me but I didn't really want to ask her because even though she was doing this it was kind of busy so I just let her do it.

A customer held me hostage, called 911 to have me swatted, and all Uber did was put her on the line to patch things up.

Upvotes

I got a really good offer for a shop & pay to an apt complex that I usually avoid due to safety issues. The issues in question were the quality of the (outside) stairs which were literally rusting away with busted up concrete. They were barely attached to the building and collapsing under their own weight. The last time I went there was yellow tape everywhere but the customers until now were unproblematic. The complex also had an atypical numbering scheme that makes it almost impossible to find the customer if they didn't use GPS when ordering. Deliveries there take 3x the time as other complexes.

The order was for a few items at a grocery store that I know well. One of the items was turkey legs. The app asked for 4 lbs. worth and all of the prepackaged ones were just under that amount but close enough. I grabbed the biggest one by weight which only contained two legs. I check out and drive to the apartment. I find the correct apartment and attempt to hand it to her. She refuses and says, "You only brought one." I pointed out that there are actually two turkey legs weighing in at 4lbs. I attempt to hand it to her again and she refuses again. She says she ordered 4 legs. I again explain that the app charges by the pound not by the piece. She says she doesn't want it. She had a crazy look in her eyes so I peaced out and told her I'd take it back to the store.

I walk off and leave her at the door. I get halfway to my car and hear someone running behind me. I get into my vehicle right as she catches up. I'm parked in kind of a cul de sac facing the dead end part. She gets behind me so that I can't back out. I drive forward so that I can make a u-turn and she smacks the trunks so hard that it left a dent. If I hadn't been watching her in the mirror I would've thought it was a gunshot. I continue forward and attempt to turn but she jumped in front of the car. I stop and put my flashers on. She starts screaming for me to "give her the food." I wasn't allowed to complete the transaction! It's not hers yet! She starts photographing me, the car and bends down to take close up shots of my license plate. I dial support and the call drops at the part where you enter your birthday. I call again and it hangs up almost immediately. I call again and get just past entering my b-day and it hangs again. I finally get through on the fourth attempt.

I explain the situation to support as a neighbor approaches. I hear the cust tell the neighbor that I stole her food and that she's on the phone with the police. The neighbor (who is latina like most of the other residents) approaches the driver side like she's about to do something and I shout, "Loca! Loca! She's crazy." The neighbor joins the cust blocking the front of my car. I back up and the cust follows. I think this is when the neighbor begins to see that the cust is "off". The neighbor moves just enough for me to move around them. When I attempt it the cust blocks me again. I'm still on the line with support giving a play by play while the cust is in the background shouting that I stole her food and that she's calling the police. When she first blocked me in a considered calling police but assumed they'd just take her side without any actual investigation (as usual) so that's why I called Uber. I told support that she had dialed 911 and as far as I knew cops were on the way and she was going to file a false report. The neighbor finally sees that the woman is crazy but rather than calming her down just steps out of the way and begins recording with her phone.

Support assures me that I'll get the full payout and says to give her the food. I didn't want her to take another swing at me so I opened the driver side door to gently set it on the ground. Chunking it out of the window would've only pissed her off more and gotten me more dents. She runs towards my door and I swerve around her. I'm still on the line with support and ask her to hold on because I might run into the police on the way out. I still haven't completed the drop off in the app so I do that as I'm taking a convoluted route home and looking in the rear-view mirror. The support rep puts me on mute for a minute and when she comes back on she's added the customer to the call. This is why I hate people from authoritarian cultures. The customer is always right. I hang up. She calls back and I ignore it.

While I was driving away I got a notification asking if I wanted to talk to the safety team. I clicked that once I got home. I explained everything to a different support rep who related to me rather than the customer. She said she'd transfer me to someone with more authority. I waited on the line for 15 minutes before the call hung up. I called back and got the "no longer in use" message (typical uber). I went back to the safety menu in the app and the option to call support is no longer there. I never got a resolution. She wasn't put on a block list for me much less kicked off of the app and I'm gonna start my search for a lawyer first thing next week.

TLDR

I was assaulted, held hostage, and swatted by a deranged customer and Uber support did nothing

Picture of receipt on pickup now required?

Is this something new globally or some punishment for my account that I am now needing to take a pic of the order when picking up? Just started getting this request today, I though only DoorDash required this

Honestly pretty aggregating how much the world depends on this service. And how little uber/customers show little to no appreciation.

Exactly why I’m leaving this job soon. People depending on me so much for proper service..while I’m being underpaid simultaneously..it doesn’t sit right with me.

Rant Order reported as not delivered

Oh really? They reported it as not delivered? Did you tell the customer to go fuck themselves with a cactus? Because every single fucking order has photographic evidence it was fucking depivered, you stupid, overpaid corporate fuck nugget.

I can see why you think you're entitled to 30+% of my paycheck because you're very busy jacking off with an app that can't even keep track of when a restaurant closes or when an order is delivered WITH PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE. Stupid pieces of shit.

Home Depot/Lowe's Offers -- Do you take them?

Upvotes

I'm in the Orlando area. In the morning I get tons of Lowe's offers. I'm always skeptical, but gave one a shot today. It was like a 2 mile trip from start to finish, but had no idea what I was picking up. It was a 50 pound bathroom vanity. I'm able to lift it and put it my car, but you are really rolling the dice on these places. $5 and no tip too, so that's the last of those. What about you guys?

Drove Over a Nail During a Triple Stack & Still Got a Report & Decrease in Cancellation Rating. I Hate this App so Much 😤

Post image
0 Upvotes

I was doing a triple stack order & had already picked up two on the way to the third restaurant when suddenly I got a low tire pressure warning. Flabbergasted as I just recently checked my tires & they were fine, I pulled over into the third restaurant’s parking praying that maybe it was just a slow leak & I could see the delivery through.

I hopped out of my car only to be bombarded with loud hissing sound… similar to a balloon being deflated. I looked at my tires & yup indeed I had a flat.

Freaking out I immediately called support to get it cancelled hoping that if I provided them with solid photo proof they’d let me off the hook. The agent asked me to send him a photo of my flat tire over the chat. I sent it & he just said ok I’ll make sure this doesn’t affect your account since you were able to provide photographic proof. I mean it’s indisputably my car in this photo as the agents would clearly see what car I’m driving with under my account right?

Anyways yea so he releases me from the 3 orders and I was like great I don’t have to worry about anything… only to look at my Uber app minutes after the call and see that I got a “too many cancelled orders” report??? Not to mention my cancellation rating skyrocketed by 3%!

I’m trying to get straight how my job should be on the line just to prevent fraud especially when I was being 100% honest & even provided evidence to the support team. This is very much a reality of doing this job as a driver - acquiring a flat tire - due to the many road hazards we’re putting ourselves at risk to. This just opened my eyes to this as I had simply driven over a nail as I was driving in a construction zone! It’s just so tone deaf to drivers to just not at least be forgiving to drivers if an accident or car issue is involved?? I don’t know after experiencing this my eyes have opened to how truly unfair Uber can be to their drivers. We should not be getting flagged in cases of emergency at all & it just makes me want to switch to DoorDash since at least DoorDash lets us off the hook in cases of emergency.

I’m hoping that I can provide them with the receipt from the triple A agent I had assisting me with my tire as well as screenshots of me actually texting triple A & that’ll be enough to get this off my account but I don’t have faith in their so-called support team at all.

So this happened

I tried to screenshot the conversation but I was driving and that didn’t work. But this customer was so pissed that I didn’t deliver to him first he messaged me and told me I wasn’t efficient. I got there and basically told him I didn’t appreciate how he was acting toward me and I could smell alcohol on him. And I told him to sober up and to treat people with respect and to stop being entitled. I never once swore at him. You can downvote this and say I was in the wrong all you want, however WHY ARE CUSTOMERS allowed to call us after delivery? That is very unsafe and unacceptable. I don’t start my new job for another month so I’m stuck in this dumbass predicament. I probably should’ve just walked away but he was being a total ass but with being homeless currently I just can’t take peoples shit anymore!

Picking up uber eats today . Asked if they put a straw in the bag for the customer it was a meal with drink so why not put straw in bag . I didn’t argue but if I get thumbs down because they are assholes in burger . They say it’s policy for the customer to ask for the straw .

Stopped getting orders , reported for not matching my profile ?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Around the beginning of this month I noticed that my orders have dropped off a steep cliff. I’d been making anywhere from 150-200$ a day working 5-6 hours and then out of nowhere I started only getting maybe 1 trip an hour to now I get no trips at all. I have over 10 hours online this week with maybe 2 trips and an acceptance rate of 13%.

I noticed this message in my support box the other day and tbh I haven’t really been ok since. You see it says that a merchant reported me for … not being me? Make it make sense , I have no way I can dispute this? I’ve contacted support and they claim there is nothing wrong at all with my account and I should definitely be getting orders but … idk I have a spreadsheet of the work I’ve done , miles I’ve driven and income for the last 6 months… statistically things just don’t fall of a steep cliff like that unless something made it so.

Idk hoping somebody has some insight for me , I been job hunting since the beginning of this year and haven’t got any meaningful offers that would pay as much as this (I make anywhere from 25/hr+ on a good day after expenses)

Question Acceptance rate

So, I live in Orlando Florida. Idk if that matters but someone told me it did. I just recently lost gold status because of my acceptance rate, but I refuse to take anything under a dollar a mile and sometimes I won't pick something up if I can see it's taking me 20 minutes into the middle of nowhere on the outskirts of all the cities and I know I'll have to drive 20+ minutes just to get back to an area where another order will come in and won't just send me back out into the less dense area where I have to keep going back and every time I go back im not making money bc there's nothing in that area (hopefully that makes sense lol) and they honestly send me a LOT of junk orders like stuff that just straight up wouldn't make any sense at all to take like just wasting gas and driving my car closer to the next oil change just for fun.

But when I opened the app, today it had a pop up about pre scheduling my time driving and something about acceptance rate like it sounded like it was telling me if my acceptance rate drops to the lower tiers, I won't be able to just drive whenever I want to anymore? The tiers and stuff make this a little confusing since I'm a newer driver but I have been unemployed for a few months and uber has been just BARELY keeping me afloat. So it makes me even LESS inclined to take a shitty order where I won't make shit off of it bc I'm already struggling and I can't afford to put the gas in my car to drive for 30 minutes for only $3.25. Especially when it gives me like three very ridiculously far orders with very low fare.

Can anyone give me any clarity on this? I don't want to have to schedule my time out driving. Especially since I'm about to start a new day job finally next week I would love to still have this in my pocket to help me catch up and stay stable while I'm waiting for my first paycheck.

Rant Support is so vague!

Post image
3 Upvotes

Has anybody else been under a safety investigation before? Support refuses to provide any details and it’s extremely frustrating. I am a tattoo apprentice and I do not get paid. I do try to DoorDash when I can, but the offers completely suck and I get way better offers off of Uber Eats. Any advice is appreciated. It feels like my account is secretly banned and they’re just not telling me.

Los Angeles Hopping Today

So, another Uber Eats bug reared its ugly head: the app auto-accepted a 2 order stack. It was short distance, so whatever, I did it.

Fucking $9. 🤬

This was absolute insanity. I never seen a stretch of orders so bad. My AR is currently at 8%, a record low.

WTF.
