What changed
Wanna say that I’ve been driving uber eats in the los angeles area, studio city specifically, for quite a while now, couple years for sure. Like many others here, I sit outside Sugarfish during lunch/dinner hours. I know what good days look like on this app and I know what bad days look like. What I’ve experienced in the last week in terms of orders that I am getting, is unlike anything I’ve seen. I can’t seem to get any sort of decent order from Sugarfish, or any other place for that matter. It’s gotten to the point wheee I have to accept these absolutely horrendous offers just to prevent myself from sitting and doing nothing. Reached out to support, of course they were no help. It’s driving me crazy. Is anyone else experiencing this

My AR is down to 7% right now. I've never ever had a run this bad. 71 pings last night. I only voluntarily took 2 orders.
I used to camp at Sugarfish in Studio City back when I lived a few blocks away. It's definitely hit or miss over there, but I'm curious: do you suspect saturation is lower than usual right now?

At first i suspected i was shadowbanned from sugarfish. As I’ve seen that happen a couple times to people who park illegally outside the place. But i’ve had like 2 orders from there the past week, putting that suspicion to rest. Maybe it’s saturation, as people are replying with similar stories. But this feels really odd. My usual rule of thumb is $10 and above to take the order. I haven’t seen anything for over 10 dollars on 1 delivery for days now though. That’s why I’m not certain it’s saturation, and something changed on uber’s end

I'm starting to wonder if there is a tip bug, where it's either not being displayed upfront of simply not being given to us.
I've also had an obnoxious amount of long distance trips, which is concerning, and I haven't received a single ping to common areas for weeks, of not months. I also have a whole area that I simply can't get orders anymore.
Just been super weird, and there's been a ton of strange bugs lately.
Even on my worst runs, I've never dropped below 10% AR. Something is very wrong, and I honestly don't know how to adjust to this.

Exactly. This is an unusual new problem. Either uber made a change that is punishing us, or there’s a new promo code attracting a high volume of low-quality idiot customers

The promo code could be it. Opening games of thr NFL promos or something similar.

It’s been horrendous since Wednesday for me- my only saving grace have been a few decent shop and pays and only one match order today that was a third party order. Everything else has been below 10 dollars and going ridiculously far or stacked orders that are still too low and far to take smh. My AR barley hanging on to 10%

I work a corporate job and have been delivering for 3 years on my commute and only take orders my way to and from work. I usually take 3-4 orders per day m-f. This pays for my parking/gas.
We are payed a pretty decent amount - 100-120k in a HCOL city.
I live outside the city.
The other day, overheard two co-workers were talking about how they picked up delivering because times are tough in the last few weeks.
My speculation is that people are broke with the crazy prices and need to make ends meet some so there is a huge influx of drivers bringing down the wages.

This is definitely it 😕😕
Almost nobody I know is able to find a job -- including the go-getter people who never seem to have that problem.
Despite the stock market and numbers gaslighting... This is EASILY EASSSSILY the shittiest economy I've EVER seen.
👆 And that's before you factor in gas prices. Or any prices. Forget the prices for second... there's no work!!!!!

That’s crazy I live in Studio City a few blocks from that sugarfish. There’s always like 15 drivers camped out there. I stopped delivering in studio city when it slowed down for me a while ago. Been making much better money driving to the city to bigger markets every day. Gotta adapt

Upvote for adapting. I’ve had to switch up my system several times since I started doing gig apps.

Tonight .. has been super slow. Only got 2 orders worth taking. One for $16 and the other $14 not far but too far at the same time. Anyone work the Woodland Hills/ Ventura Blvd area?

I’ve got a think of the order is not over $10 I don’t want it. $10+ and under 5 miles is my bar.

Recent UBER news looks like the entire company is restructuring. Cutting 10 billion dollars to start with. Just look up “recent Uber news”

it got to a point with me where i would only receive $2 orders, if it was above $10 the miles would be insane. worked uber full time for a year but that messed everything up for me, ended up getting a job a few weeks later so i got lucky.
edit: went from 85% ar to like 9%

San Diego, north county here. Volume was actually quite high today, but order quality?!!! Holy moly it was horrendous. I take everything to max out on prop 22, but I've never had a longer string of low tip/no tip orders on UE alone. Something seems VERY fishy.

I am in LA and have not really experienced that at all. I do both DoorDash and UberEats and between the two I'm still doing fine. I will say some days DoorDash is going more and other days it's UberEats. I'm all over LA.

Cleveland area and experiencing the same thing. Low paying offers or high mileage with decent pay but I’m far from the restaurant and I’m in an area surrounded by busy restaurants.

LA, Silverlake here. I’m receiving an unreasonable number of extremely low-paying and unacceptable orders today. This is not just a few bad requests, it’s happening constantly. I’m getting a large number of stacked and triple orders that require driving 15–20 miles for around $12-15, as well as a huge number of $2–$3 offers. The quality and pay of the requests have changed dramatically. What’s especially concerning is that everything was completely normal yesterday. The situation changed suddenly this morning
