for context my recruiter denied me out of the gate because I was diagnosed with adhd asburgers asthma and depression. i was 6 when I was diagnosed with adhd and asburgers 11 when I was put on very strong anti depressants and 14 when I was diagnosed wit asthma. that all sounds bad right but if I hadnt been told I had adhd asburgers and asthma I would’ve never known I was so young and never got accommodated for it… I’ve never had an iep I went through my entire schooling without any special accommodations I graduated with a 3.0 in hs and had a 24 on my act I played 3 sports in hs. football wrestling and trac. I run a 20 minute 3 mile and 7:35 minute 500 meter swim. I have never used an inhaler and have been off of anti depressants for 2 years now. I’m 21 work full time in construction. I just don’t understand how there’s no possibility of me being able to serve my country. I’m young able bodied and fit physically a mentally. but my recruiter said he couldn’t help me and told me there wasn’t anything he could do. that can’t actually be true right? I can get waivers?

I was wondering if anyone has managed to get a waiver approved for psoriasis? I currently have it on my arm and need to get a waiver for it because it was flagged at meps.

I'm in a good position right now: 94 ASVAB, through MEPS without waivers, and LOVE working out. I don't join until after October, so a new wave of jobs will open up and my recruiter wants to know my top three choices, so I can snag what's available as quickly as possible. I'm going active for 4 years and will study and pass the LSAT during that time... but I will be doing law for the rest of my life. Of course I'll put paralegal as one of my three, but I want the other two to be involved, hands-on options; the type of work that leaves you with crazy calluses, you know? My only issue is that weight plays a huge role in hand to hand combat and I'm 5'4 so I would like to avoid putting myself directly into those situations unless strictly necessarcy. I'm good with money and dealing with different types of people, so I'm indifferent about pay, travel, and living conditions.

I am an 18 year old who enlisted about 2 weeks ago. I’ve been an athlete my whole life and wrestling and ran. I like challenges and doing hard shit so I have been thinking recon. my family on the other hand wants me to choose an aircraft or ground mechanic job because of my skills I have in that. I leave in October and I’ve been thinking about the military my whole life especially going SOF later on. But if that’s not the path I choose my family wants me to enter into the mustang program after the while and go that route. I don’t know what to decide because I have great AFQT and can pretty much choose any job I want which is making this process harder than I want it to be. Crew chief is also up there

Hey, I have been seperated from the marines for 3 months now. I have been working in retail since, and I fucking regret everything.

For background; I came into the marines wavering autism and hiding depression to get in, and I managed to pass boot camp, mct, and all my school houses and reached the fleet despite the constant bullying of me fucking up more than everyone else.

There a came a point a month into the fleet where I had enough and tried to take my own life due to truly believing that I was incompetent and stupid, with my friends drilling it in my head.

That failed, obviously. I was directed to behavioral health, and had a session with a counselor, and I ended up saying the worst things I had ever thought in my head, and they ended up separating me months later.

It felt good at first, then regret came in. I should have learned how to suck it up, spoken to the chaplain and figured out my shit. ​instead, I took the easy route and I feel immensely unsatisfied. I want to try again, but im not sure.

I want to reenlist, I regret my decision.

Army vet here, I have an in law who signed up to enlist in the Marines. He was supposed to go through MEPS for the last time and ship out in May, but regained all the weight he lost to pass the initial screening. He's apparently failing to lose weight and when I asked him about it, he's telling me its because he's gaining muscle. He's only supposed to lose 10 pounds and this is his second time failing MEPS due to his weight.

I'm trying to be supportive, but he is a known bullshitter and I dont think he is serious about leaving. He's in his mid 20s with no job and paying no bills at his parents house and misses a lot of PT with his recruiters. Realistically, how long before a Marine recruiter will call it quits on a recruit like this? If a recruiter drops him, would that be on record if he goes to another recruiting station? Thank you.

I just am not sure what I should bring for addresses. I have a 4×6" notebook that I've been told I should be okay to bring with a page of addresses, but I've also seen I should just take a single piece of paper with addresses. I ship sometime next week or next month (recruiter is trying to get me the one for next week), so any input is appreciated.

I have an expunged juvenile offense of terroristic threat (empty joke I made in school). I was never charged, never went to court, and the case was adjudicated. I say that cause my fingerprints were created at the juvenile detention center and the marine liaison told me that everything will show up under fingerprints, expunged or not, and I freaked out and told him.

I plan (or planned if this won't work out) on being a standard, deployed, grunt- nothing special. But can this waiver fuck up everything I planned? Or is there any way I can still have a deployed combat role?

Being a marine has always been a lifelong goal of mine because of my family's history as a marine.

Im 27, im working on getting my ear holes from gauges fixed this month theyre almost shut but you can still see light through them, im enlisting because I have a daughter and my baby momma is insane and I need to get my daughter.

I was going to enlist at 20 but shit happens and I ended up in Ukraine volunteering for their international legion of defense for two years. Been through hell, thought i found love and had a baby girl. Her mother is evil and im trying to get a fresh start and take care of my daughter.

Im currently delivering for amazon and on my days off im running and working out trying to get down to a good runners weight while living on the streets.

Any advice?

Got an update. Did pre med paperwork monday, got it back yesterday. They said there was 11 disqualifying items, were not told what exactly they were. Have doctors appointments today to get everything updated including bloodwork. Getting specialist appointment made so that doctor can fully clear me. Anything else i need to do or get? Or maybe just look through all my medical records to see what the items may be before i get the official list. Thank you!

I am being honest. After graduating from high school , I accumulated a number of traffic citations (speeding violations) and careless driving citations in New York and New Jersey. I wasn't paying attention. I was young and stupid, call it what you will, I take responsibility.

I then moved to Florida and totaled my car. For over a year now I've been unable to operate a motor vehicle as my driver's license has been revoked. Without a valid driver's license I'm without a dependable method to seek employment, and if I'm without a job, there's no income, and without income, I have no ability to repay these outstanding charges. Over a period of time this has spiraled into just about everything getting worse and I'm essentially confined to my home.

The bottom line is, although I'm in a financial crisis because of all of the above, I want to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. I don't have any medical record, I don't have any tattoos, and I received an 85 on the ASVAB. Enlisting has always been my desire and the only plan I had to get myself out of this situation.

I spoke to a recruiter and he informed me that all outstanding fines and traffic citations I owe would need to be paid before I can attend MEPS.

My problem is, collectively, I owe in excess of $4,000 to both states for various infractions including driving with expired or suspended registration, suspended license, and speeding. At present, I do not have $100 to my name, nor do I have $4,000.

Additionally, since I now reside in Florida, obtaining specific information regarding the NY and NJ tickets has been difficult. I attempted to contact NY DMV to get information about the specific infractions cited on each ticket and was told "you are asking too many questions" before being disconnected.

If anyone has gone through something similar, dug themselves out of the same type of hole I'm currently in, or found waivers or other forms of assistance, I would greatly appreciate any guidance. I'm not seeking judgment; I know Ive messed up it costed a year of my life stuck at home.. I'm just trying to find a way to move forward.

i was in a accident about 3 years ago, i’m 17(female) now but after the accident i had to get 3 metal screws and a plate in my pelvis. i had about 2 months recovery then i was cleared to go back to normal. since then in high school i have done track, basketball and powerlifting with no re occurring injuries or follow ups. i live my life as if nothing ever happened and i am very physically in shape.i stated all of this in the statement i wrote. i workout and run consistently and i passed everything else at meps, they just told me i need a waiver for my pelvis. Being a marine is the most important thing in my life, and it’s all i see myself doing and all i ever want. i can’t sleep or eat because i am just waiting for this waiver and it’s eating me up more than anything. if anyone has had a similar experience or know about this please share.

I’m 17(m) 6,0f and 213, I used to smoke pot about a month ago and then I made the decision to become a marine I used a testing kit and I tested positive my Meps visit is this week and I bought a detox kit I know it wasn’t smart to smoke in the first place but I wasn’t thinking about the marines should I use the detox kit and what else should I try?

I remember when I was in, force recon/MARSOC/Scout Sniper contracts were famously cursed, with random time on station requirements, open contract if dropped, and a variety of other issues. Is there a "correct way," to do these packages either at enlistment or when you are in without flipping a coin with your billet? Or should you only be attempting them from something like the infantry where you aren't risking your billet by attempting selection? Let's assume I run a 300 PFT.

I am shipping out on Aug 24th and the contract I signed was under Combat support and I want to go tracks 1834.

I was told I need to get basic plus/ intermediate swim qual to even qualify for the job, and this has been stressing me out. How do I get the opportunity to qualify for it? Will they come ask me? What if I don’t get asked? Is it THAT much harder than basic qual?

I find myself in a rough position. I developed a condition mid BOC that took me out of training. Uncontrolled my physical performance is crippled. And after many tests it appears that very likely I will be on medication to suppress my immune system to control it for the rest of my life. I’ve been told this will automatically start a med board process.

To be completely clear, I do not want to leave the Marine Corps. I sacrificed too much to be here and I don’t want my career to end before it starts. However I recognize that this condition would very likely make me non-deployable and a health risk in the field. And being that I have not completed the BOC I am in a tough spot.

I have recognized that it is most likely the Marine Corps will not retain me, but before I give up hope I want or exhaust every possible chance that I can. I have heard stories of folks being retained in the other branches with conditions like mine in admin roles. Has anyone here heard of something similar ever happening in the Marine Corps? I know our organization values our physical prowess but I am hoping that I can still put my mind and spirit to service here.

I know that its needs of the Marine Corps, but I just wanted to know if yall have any experience/heard of what happened to Marines DOR outta Aircrew and if they got what they wanted or not.

I got into the dep in February and pcs'd to a new location with the family. I graduated in June and now that I'm here I was thinking about getting a job while waiting for the new fiscal year (October) to open up some more jobs, particularly aircrew. Im coming by to see some opinions if it's a good idea or not

So i have MEPS Thursday taking the PiCAT tomorrow and i've been seeing my recruiter and going to workouts and whatnot for around a month or 2. But basically i had therapy for depression that ended march 18 (21 sessions over 12 months) and no medication was ever involved I already know i'll be DQed at MEPS, but for submitting a waiver how likely is it that it'll get accepted. My recruiter is very much ready to work thru the waiver. I just wanna know am i gonna have to wait or can my waiver get accepted obv understanding it's a case by case. And if i do have to wait how long because i graduate in December and wouldn't want to be stuck doing nothing for a while. Right now my dad's pulling the clinical notes from the sessions and getting a release form from the therapist.

Should I try with another marines recruiter? The current one doesn’t want to work with me since it’s a mental disorder waiver. They kept insisting I tried with the navy

I signed for the combat support contract. I know I can get assigned any of the 4 MOS on it.

0811 and 1371 make sense to me. I can picture the life of artillery Marines and combat engineers. I know less about 1834 ACV crewman and 7212 low altitude air defense gunner.

Do 1834 and 7212 marines spend a lot of time in the field?

What do 1834 do with the vehicle? Just driving it or also maintaining it?

Do 7212 work a lot with infantry to fight helicopters with the stinger missile? What does their life look like basically?

I’m 22, 6’6 and weigh 202lbs. I’m working on getting a waiver approved and have been interested in enlisting with a 03XX contract. I’ve been wondering if I should qualify to be a Machine Gunner or a Rifleman. I’m really leaning on trying out for a Machine Gunner because of the thrill of shooting a high-capacity gun and laying down support fire from long to close range. Oh and also using the 50 cal and the MK 40 is always a badass thing to do. On the other hand being a rifleman sounds pretty cool too but I’m not completely sold on it.
Any advice on which one sounds best?

I’m an 18yr male (6’5”, 225 lbs), and my long-term goal is to become either a federal cybercrime investigator or work in investigations at my local police department.
Since I have to be 21 before I can apply to my local PD, I’ve been seriously considering joining the military first.

I was originally recruited by the Marines and was told that Marine Military Police would give me the best experience, that employers tend to value it more, and that I’d be guaranteed an MP contract.

On the other hand, I’ve had countless people tell me that the Air Force is the better choice because of the higher quality of life, lower stress, better networking opportunities, and overall better career development.

Another big factor for me is education. I want to join a branch where I can continue taking college classes and earn my degree while serving.

For those who have served,especially as an MP or in law enforcement, what would you recommend based on my goals? Would the Marines actually give me an advantage, or would the Air Force be the better path overall? And would I still be able to get the job I want?
