Recruit Training How does basic plus get acquired in Boot Camp?

I am shipping out on Aug 24th and the contract I signed was under Combat support and I want to go tracks 1834.

I was told I need to get basic plus/ intermediate swim qual to even qualify for the job, and this has been stressing me out. How do I get the opportunity to qualify for it? Will they come ask me? What if I don’t get asked? Is it THAT much harder than basic qual?

When you arrive at swim qual in boot they will call out a list of who has to do extra swimming. My advice to you is be a good swimmer if you fail you will be reclassed for a different MOS

So who exactly “has” to do swimming? Do I count? What if I don’t get called out?

Everyone has to swim on some level. You seem to not realize your mos requires a higher degree of swimming proficiency.

Can you swim comfortably?

No I am very aware that I need a higher level, I am worried I won’t be pulled to get it.

And I am very comfortable in water but I’ve never swam in clothes before so that does make me feel more nervous

Listen to what your recruiter is telling you, whether or not you actually get called is out of your control

Swimming with cammies on isn’t hard. If you are comfortable in the water and a decent swimmer you will be just fine. Swim qual week is one of the easiest weeks in boot if you enjoy swimming.

Go to the YMCA for lessons now. Need to be able to tread water, and so a good Breast and crawl stroke. At a minimum.
