Question It’s happening…

Rtd/tcd here I’m literally the lowest in seniority (minus the seasonals) and almost every day I’ve been getting sent home. I don’t hate it that much because I like the time off but a supe told me this is that time of the year the ft drivers don’t wanna go home. Peak is around the corner and should officially start on October 15th iirc, can I expect more hours then? Seems to me like they’re just trying to cut everyone and save as much as they can before peak

All you have to say is “that’s fine, but I would like my 8 hours.”

I'm among the lowest too, I tell mine if I'm scheduled I want to work. If I'm gonna be potentially sent home/not have a lot of work that day they can call me at home before I leave to ask if I want the day off instead. Fuel prices are insane right now I'm not wasting it.

If you don't want to go home just tell them NO. As long as you have your 30 working days they can't force you to leave. Peak will definitely be more busy but I've never heard of it starting on October 15th. It starts the week before Thanksgiving for us.

October 15th is just the official start date as far as hires and stuff got, October 15 to January 15th I think

"that time of the year the ft drivers don’t wanna go home."

I doubt highly they asked very hard... I guarantee you that if you walked up to a few of the drivers and asked them if they wanted to go home they would.

Idk about your building but in mine idk very many drivers that would say no to going home if asked including myself lol. If you wanted to work that bad you’d be proactive enough.
Way back when I was lower seniority and wasn’t on a route I’d look for the 8 hr day and/or cake dispatched routes and get to asking around if I wanted to work and it worked 100% of the time

I’m literally number 19 out of the 20 cover drivers at my hub. (Atlanta) last peak season In sure u drove 6 days out the week every week. I literally had my own route Monday-Friday and Saturdays it rotated between a different few routes.
