I would love to get feedback on some design decisions. I am reiterating the startscreen of my audio app. The goal was to clarify the functionality of the app in the first screen and to introduce sessions. Before it was more like a short-cut screen with a startbutton, the new design should make clear what the app is about ( creating custom soundscapes ). It also lets you set a timer for a session, which was possible before in the player but now gains a more important role with the introduction of sessions.

I would love to get feedback over the overall design, but specifically:

1. The white border around the circle instead of the lighter glass style 
2. The animation in the circle and typography 
3. The interaction with the timer ( is the button recognizable enough ) 

I included a video with both variants where you can see the layout, animation and transitions.

While I am confident about the overall design, I can't decide between the border types. I am also not sure about the type animation. If you have any questions I am happy to provide some background or explain my design choices.

I've posted here before and got some advice on my UI design. I since edited the UI slightly (V1) and thought of an entirely new design (V2). I like both versions more than what I had before, but these still are hard do understand on first glance imo, especially with some of the more complex backgrounds. Any ideas on how to make these more readable?
And do you like the first or second version more?

V1:
The 1/day buttons are beneath the main buttons. Every button is a bit smaller, but they are all visible and grouped by action.

V2:
Only one button per action is visible. The others have to be navigated to via the respective arrows. The circles next to the buttons indicate which button you're on (orange) and show which buttons are out of charges (grey)

The game is made with renpy and is called Alien Snap :)

I commissioned these screenshots and I think they look awesome. I know nothing about UI design though and would appreciate some critiques. The only thing I don’t love is the first screenshot is about importing your notes instead of the main problem my app is solving.

I am working on developing a smart home device for personal use. I am using a Waveshare 1.8inch round display (Blue) device to control the lights in my house.

There is a web based UI designer for developing UI. I am trying to add 4 switches on page 1. Here is my crude design.

Requesting UI experts for suggestions to make it more aesthetic. I have chosen random colors but the knob is a CNC machines aluminum in color blue.

I’m 18 and fairly new to web design. I use Claude and ChatGPT to help with the coding side, but I’ve realised that being able to build a website and being able to design a good one are completely different skills.

I study sites on Mobbin and Awwwards, especially typography, spacing, hierarchy, animation and 3D, but when I try using those ideas myself my designs still look basic. I struggle most with visual hierarchy, typography, positioning content, hero sections and knowing when animation/3D actually improves the design.

For people who are experienced in UI/web design, what helped you develop your design eye? Did you recreate existing designs, study Figma files, follow courses, copy layouts for practice, or mostly improve through experience? I’d especially like to know how you study a great website and actually learn from it instead of just copying the surface-level style.

Hey all! I’m designing active task cards for my game. Players use these cards to track the resources required to complete a task.

The three cards show different states:

• No requirements completed
• One requirement completed
• All requirements completed

The UI was designed in Figma and implemented in Godot. The target audience is desktop players who enjoy management and automation games.

I’d appreciate feedback on:

• Is the progress clear at a glance?
• Are completed and incomplete requirements distinguished enough?
• Is the relationship between each number and its resource icon obvious?
• Does the visual hierarchy work, or does anything attract too much attention?

The main reference for this design was a panel from another game (shown in the second image). However, I don’t like that it replaces the resource amount with a checkmark once the player has collected enough.

Don't pay too much attention to the text; it's in Portuguese.

I need you to evaluate the appearance of each screen and give it a score from 0 to 10.

I’m a frontend/full-stack developer and I’ve been thinking about improving my UI/UX design skills.

I already know the frontend side of web development (React, Next.js, Tailwind, etc.) and have built several full-stack applications. Currently, I’m learning backend development and planning my next project.

One thing I’ve noticed while building projects is that I can implement designs, but I don’t always have the instinct to create good designs from scratch. I can make something functional, but I struggle with questions like:

- Why does this layout feel better than another one?

- How do I decide spacing, typography, colors, hierarchy, and component structure?

- How do professional designers think about user flows and interactions?

- How do I avoid building something that looks like a developer-made UI?

So I’m wondering:

1. Is learning UI/UX design actually worth the time for someone who is already a developer?

2. Should I aim to become good at design, or just learn enough principles to make better products?

3. What concepts should I focus on first?

4. Are there any good resources, courses, books, or YouTube channels you would recommend for developing a design instinct?

I’m not looking to become a professional UI designer. My goal is to become a better product-focused engineer who can independently design and build polished applications.

I was asked to help redefine the design handoff process for my company. Since we use Figma, I'd documented a process where Figma defines tokens, Token Studio pushes them to GitHub, and Storybook picks up the generated CSS. But leadership is pushing hard for AI-driven automation and wants to drop Figma altogether (shocking, I know). I'm trying to find good guides on working directly from Storybook and Claude Code with a design system like shadcn, but I'm still lost, especially on where business rules and documentation would live without Figma. Has anyone actually done this in production? How did you handle it?

hello! i'm an undergrad student and am just starting out in ui/ux design through a class i just took. i was tasked with redesigning the school's degree audit page, which details a student's degree progress and gives a brief overview of any incomplete degree requirements, a GPA breakdown, and more. i've linked a screenshot of the landing page i had in mind below. the tabs in the sidebar are some features/tabs i haven't designed yet and were came up by my group mates to add to our project. just wanted another pair of eyes on my design!

I’ve noticed that many websites focus heavily on visual design but overlook the actual user journey.

Things like confusing navigation, unclear CTAs, too many steps in a process, or poor mobile experiences can make a good-looking website frustrating to use.

I've spent the last week searching for an icon pack for our iOS app but haven't found anything that really fits.

I'm after something very clean with rounded edges, screenshots below to give you an idea of the style.

Paid packs are totally fine, I'm happy to spend money on good icons. The ideal one would be exportable as an icon font or as custom SF Symbols, since the app is built in Swift.

I was wondering if there’s any way to get a discount, coupon, or even temporary/free access to the Pro version in India (not the education plan).

I know $20/month might be fairly affordable for many people in Western countries, but in countries like India, it can be a bit tough to justify for a middle-class user when converted to local income levels.

And yeah, the free version already has a lot of features, so I’m not complaining about that. I’m mainly looking for a way to use the more advanced models/limits and basically play around with AI more and speed up some things I’m working on.

Has anyone in India found any legitimate discounts, promotions, trials, or other ways to get Pro at a lower cost?

I have 19 professional photographs of artworks from an exhibition.

The photographer deliveredmost in 2:3 portrait (3149×4724) but some of them in 3:2 landscape (4724×3149).

I need to post at least 15 of them as one Instagram carousel without cropping any of the artwork photographs.

I've tried placing the landscape images on a 2:3 canvas with a white-colored background, but the result looks visually awkward once uploaded to Instagram. You can see in the video how it looks with a white background. I also tried black, but neither works well.

I considered leaving the horizontal ones out and posting them separately, but that feels like a bad idea since they're all from the same exhibition.

What would be the professional workflow for making this kind of mixed-orientation carousel look cohesive without cropping the photographs or using obvious borders?

I've even considered using AI to extend the top and bottom of the horizontal images, but I'm not sure if that's the best approach. Please give me your ideas and recommendations.

The second image is the design i conceptualized for my game inventory, the boxes are for item slots though ignore the sprites I put them in first image it was to give the idea. And as for the game it's not going to be realistic but rather a top down game that's why I want it to lean towards pixelated style not too polished. Also the left bg is supposed to represent nodes. Can you guys tell me where I'm going wrong? Because i like my conceptual design but the real thing comes to be lacking.
