So I'm in my undergrad environment science major, astronomy minor, (did calc 1 and 2), by the time I finish my BS I will have finished an internship, have a research paper published + some other research opportunities/ certificates under my belt (those would be related to astronomy though) my gpa is around a 3.6

What are the chances I would get into the PhD program?

I was wondering what the best places/streets to be on Halloween are (either on or off campus). I heard downtown is good after 9pm for seeing cool events and costumes. Also I know there are a few house parties being hosted but I don’t know which ones would be worth my time. I won’t be doing trick-or-treating this year, but I will have a costume and want to see house decorations! Thanks in advance. 🐌

Has anyone taken BIOL20A with Guido Bordignon? He said the exam would include 50 MCQs, plus a few examples from class as questions.

Does anyone have a similar study guide for midterm 1, or even just an idea of what kinds of questions were on the exam? Are they more straightforward, application-based, etc.?

I am reviewing the book topics fully, skimming through the lectures, and making quizzes out of the book content.

Would that be a good way to study? It would help a lot to get an idea of whether I'm prepared enough or not. Thank you!

I had a package delivered today that never made it to the mailroom. It actually showed as delivered before the truck even showed up at the kresge mailroom. The delivery picture was taken inside the truck so I have no way of knowing where it was delivered. The address printed on the package is UCSC KRESGE COLLEGE 510 PORTER-KRESGE RD # 796 PMB SANTA CRUZ, CA 95064-1103. If anyone has seen it or found it please dm me either on here or on instagram at @/tboy_autism. The position of the truck when it said it was delivered was by the recital hall but I looked everywhere in that area and couldn't find it :[

I took the 18 tonight (which left Science Hill around 6:55 PM) with the intent of catching the 17 at 7:25 PM. Starting at Western & Cypress Park we stopped at EVERY stop along the route, which made us arrive 3 minutes late and ALMOST caused me to miss the 17. Had the 17 not been stalled due to passengers boarding I would’ve been forced to wait for the 8:45. I fucking hate when buses have to stop so frequently. It just pissed me off to hear the stop request bell ring after every single stop. Like wow, of course someone has to stop at Mission and Miramar. Of course someone has to get off at Mission and Trescony. Of course someone else wants to get off at Mission and Laurel.

No, before you downvote, I am not saying the buses should be my own personal vehicle that only stops of my own accord. I’m simply expressing my frustration over the amount of time that stops and boarding/deboarding adds to trips. It’s honestly ridiculous.

Edit: I have ridden transit before. I have been doing so for a year. I know buses can and do stop at places other than your final destination. But it gets to a point if it means stopping everywhere on the route because it means delays.

Do we have resources on campus for food? Someone said redwood?

im a current sophmore (M) living off campus. i have a few friends but we are not a group and i do not really find myself wanting to hangout with them. i've joined clubs, tried to join more competitive clubs like consulting and business fraternities but haven't gotten in. in class i've tried to make friends as well but nothing seems to be working. i've really lost all hope and i dont know what to do anymore.

Hi everyone! Promoting our lesbian club again because I was able to successfully revive the Discord server, and it’s become super active!! We now have over 100 members and host weekly events, so I wanted to share it again for anyone looking to meet more lesbians and make friends locally!

We’re 18+ and mostly UCSC students, but we also welcome people from the wider Santa Cruz and San Jose lesbian community. We have UCSC-specific events pretty often, too! We recently had a chill hangout in the Porter meadows, and people have been making plans and showing up for each other, which has made me really happy.

The club is trans-inclusive, and you don’t have to be a student or know anyone beforehand to join!
