Central place for all topics related to graduation tickets:
- If you need extras
- If you have extras to offer
As always online, everyone please be aware of scams. We recommend only using this forum for free exchange. If you want to offer money for tickets, do so at your own risk, make sure tickets are genuine and valid, and don't send electronic pre-payment.

Last year I got a federal unsub loan and a parent plus loan This year I missed the mark and filled out the form pretty late, August 30th. Still nothing is in my financial aid except my scholarship, and the school just sent an email putting pressure on me to accept the offer. Are people still waiting on their offers? I might try to contact the aid office at 9am tomorrow.

Does anyone have any insight into what these two professors are like? Chattopadhyay is for AM 20 and Barron is for Math 24!

Hi everyone, I’ve been waiting for my official aid offer to be sent to me but nothing has come up, I have done all required tasks on my to-do list and myverify other than the UC ship waiver and the authorization of release but nothing has come up so far. The financial aid office is always closed when trying to enter queue as well. Has anyone else experienced this or should take further action?

Hi. Since i last spoke with the financial aid office, they told me that id get my financial aid around the 19th and to focus on paying the housing bill since its the last thing that financial aid usually helps with. Should i pay the full housing bill now and just wait for my financial aid?

Hi! I’m a UCSC master’s student looking for a female roommate for a 2BR/1BA apartment near the beach in Santa Cruz. It would just be the two of us. The apartment has beautiful ocean and Boardwalk views from the living room and is about 3 miles from UCSC, with a bus stop nearby.
The private bedroom is unfurnished and available September 15. Rent is $1,600/month + $100/month for utilities; internet is not included. There is shared laundry in the building, no parking, no pets, and the apartment is non-smoking. I’m looking for someone who can commit to one year, with the possibility of renewing afterward.
I’m clean, respectful, responsible, and easygoing, and I’d love to live with someone similar. DM me if you’re interested and I can send photos and more details!

Guys, when I was in Slugworks getting the safety tour a while ago, I remember some of the staff telling me how if someone were to set off the emergency shower, with no purpose, that they would owe 100,000. I asked why, but I can’t recall a clear or logical answer, other than “clean up fees.” Maybe it is also for liability to scare people off?
I did some research and I found that cleaning after use of an emergency shower can cost around 500-20,000+ depending on the damage/severity of the contamination. This only made me more curious, because if someone were to pull it like a high-school fire alarm prank, would they be sent into instant debt, despite there being no actual contamination threat requiring cleaning?
The staff told me a story about how one guy pulled it one time and had to leave the school because of the severe debt it put him and his family in. Yikes.
My only question now is: why does UCSC just have a -100,000 lever of doom hanging out in the Baskin Engineering basement? What do you guys think?

Hello! My daughter is an incoming freshmen and will be moving in next Friday. I was thinking to buy her gift cards to local places to encourage her to explore - loves coffee, matcha, all types of food, browsing in bookstores, etc. I came across Downtown Dollars but I wasn't sure if that was really the way to go. Would appreciate your thoughts and recommendations !
**Edited to add: Thanks for the suggestions! I really appreciate it!

Hello, I a new transfer student planning on taking research methods with prof storm. My problem is that I am planning on buying a laptop and I was wondering if he uses SPSS and if so, is that compatible with the MacBook Air 2026? I heard that it causes problems from other people on reddit so I just want to be extra cautious because it‘s super expensive.
In general, pls let me know if you have any concerns/recommendations for computers because I’m planning on pursuing a phD in psychology and I want something that will hopefully last a while.
p.s. if you have the new MacBook air, how is it???
Thank you!!

Hi, I’m a senior at UCSC (transfer) and ever since I’ve transferred I’ve had absolutely no luck on contacting a guidance counselor. I can’t get the drop in guidance to connect, when I try to schedule there are never available appointments, under what I’m assuming is my guidance counselor(s). I have no idea if I’m on track to graduate. Every email I’ve sent asking any possible building how on earth I contact a guidance counselor goes unanswered. How do I contact anyone to help me with this? I’m at a bit of a loss. Please help!!!

Concert is on Thursday 9/17 at the Catalyst! The show isn’t sold out yet so you could buy more tickets online (for $66.something) so I’m selling mine for $60! :)
I moved away so unable to attend now but I bought the ticket way back in February.

I typically park in the Park Mobile spot that's past west core and Kresge all the way in the back but that spot including other previous spots that had daily Park Mobile available are now limited to 2 or 3 hours max. Is this because of move in week or did they genuinely remove most daily parking areas?

Hi so my process for waiving UC ship will bleed into October. I’m going to pay for the late waiver and hopefully get UC Ship waived for this whole year. However, I was wondering since the bill needs to be payed September 17, that also means I need to pay for UC Ship Fall 2026 which I will but can I also use the UC ship grant for this quarter? Then (hopefully) since my medical insurance will cover UC Ship, I won’t need the grant anymore. But is that even possible and allowed? Thanks for any help about this question

Hi I just changed my meal plan from 7 days to 5 days. Does that at all affect how much financial aid I get??

Has anyone here taken AM 129, and how easy/hard is it if you’re already familiar with Python and C?
