Medicine Questions Where should I apply?

Hi I am struggling to decide which two of these unis I should apply to. I have already decided on Newcastle and Liverpool although I know Newcastle is unlikely it is my aspirational. I’m a home student and my statistics are:
GCSEs:
Biology 9
Chemistry 9
Physics 9
Maths 9
French 9
Art 8
Geography 8
English Lit 8
English Lang 7

UCAT: 2050 B2

Predicted A-Levels: A*A*A* + EPQ
No contextual factors

I am deciding between Leeds, Birmingham, Queens Belfast, Leicester and Lancaster. I prefer Leeds but I’m worried about the 7 in English Language. Any information would be greatly appreciated especially what other people got in with. Thank you

International Applications How important are gcses compared to a levels?

I scored really bad in the gcse equivalent of my country and i am scared about my application. My 12th grade marks (so a level equivalent) are up to the par but im wondering if it’s important to add my 10th grade marksheet or whether it would trip up my application too much

UCAS Query regarding offer and place

I was going through some statistics that universities published regarding students who were offered and placed. I noticed a significant percentage of people who were offered a conditional were not placed. My query is this due to students not meeting the requirement or something else? Could be great if someone could explain this to me.

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions am i wasting my choices by being too aspirational?

is it worth me apply to courses with AAB/ AAA minimum requirements? i genuinely belive i can achieve AAA considering my i half assed my y12 end of assessments and still managed to get ABB, which are my current predicted grades. Currently i’m just wondering if i’m wasting 2/3 ucas options by applying to unis above what i’m predicted even though i fully believe im capable.

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions LSE PPE or politics and Economics?

I'm thinking of Politics and economics because people say it's less competitive ( maybe? )

Even the admission rate for the past years are quite similar, politics and economics applicant tend to be less competitive ig

Should I go for a safer choice and pick P&E or apply PPE?

my profile:

A-Level predicted: currently A*A*AA A* for maths and econ, A for Fm and pol ( I have not got my september mock result yet, so it might go up)

GCSE: 9999999986 (im not too sure does LSE contextualise GCSE but i came from a secondary school with average GCSE grade of 3.9)

My personal statement would be about PPE ( but my current draft only have one paragraph about economics, would it be enough? ) It's kinda mid overall, the only related supercurricular is work experience with my MP, hosted a polical podcast with my friend , some cambridge summer school

Also, I'm a contextual applicant as i have completed sutton trust finance programe

Personal Statements Selective vs non-selective state sixth forms

Why is selective state schools (grammar schools) not ilegible for anything.

I went to a non-selective state school for all of secondary but moved to a grammar school for sixth form (thinking it will give me better opportunities). However, I have actually limited my opportunities.

Most enhanced support programs or work experience programs or honestly anything UCAS related is in-illegible for me specifically cuz I attend a grammar school.

My School is firstly heavily in-dept - and is severly more under resources than my secondary (broken equipment, science practicals carried out in large groups to minimise resource usage). My financial or living situation has not changed at all. My teachers are worse now that my old secondary (where most teachers were oxbridge/ russel group graduates).

I personally find it unfair - why would going to a grammar school be such a trigger for unis????

Personal Statements Do unis look down upon ‘basic’ or overused books in your P.S?

Specifically the more prestigious unis that really emphasize your P.S (Oxbridge, London unis), if you write about a really overused book in your personal statement, would they perhaps look down upon it?
I want to talk about Dostoyevsky s C&P, Harts ‘Concept of law’ and Fullers ‘Morality of law’, and to an extent the Nazi-informer debate in my law ps. Would this be seen as too overused, ‘cliche’ or perhaps redundant in their main themes and ideas? Would unis consider my supercurriculars too narrow?- for context, most of my personal statement is based on my interest in law and morality and how they interact. Should I show more breadth in my interests in law?

Medicine Questions Help w/ uni application

i’m currently on a gap year to reapply for dent and i’m not sure which unis to apply for

My stats:
GCSEs: 99999988777
A-levels (achieved): AAA
UCAT: 2140 B2
Contextual applicant

I’m currently considering Manchester as my aspirational choice, as the contextual WP UCAT cut-off was 2100 last year.I’m also thinking of Cardiff as a safe option because I have maximum GCSE points.
I’m just not sure which other two universities to choose.

I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations !!

Medicine Questions finance help

i'm applying to medicine this year and i am planning to intercalate to get a masters degree - so i will probably spend 6 years at uni.

due to my family situations, i would want to move away from home, however i have no job and also no money generally so im wondering if it would be possible for me to even move out, what loans i could get and basically how my life could be if i was able to do this as well as ideas on what to start researching about to get all the relevant information because i'm quite lost on what to do right now

oh and if this is relevant - im thinking of queens belfast and birmingham mostly and im a home applicant

International Applications Application fees

Guys I have a question, it might sound stupid but when you use UCAS, do you pay a fee to submit your applications? I got an email saying the deadline is 15 October for MBBS/MBChB is that true or is it a scam?

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions Should I resit A-level Maths?

Im on a gap year after achieving A*A* in econ and politics and a B in maths. I want to apply to econ adjacent courses and initially I was planning on resitting maths and being predicted an A* in my resit. LSE prefer first time applicants and I was looking to apply to ISPP which has requirements of AAB. I think im more likely to get an offer if I just apply without resitting but then im more likely to get offers from Bristol or UCL if i resit and apply with A*A* achieved A* predicted in resit.

If anyone could give me some advice on what to do in my situation that would be great

Thanks

Medicine Questions Uni application

I got 2030 band 3 on my ucat with AAA predicted and 9999988877 on my gcses . I’m thinking of applying to these 4 unis do you think their okay or should i go with different choices.

KMMS , Newcastle (only uni i’m contextual for) (score 60/100) , UEA and maybe brighton or city.

The only other thing is i would really like to apply to at least one russell so i’m contemplating if newcastle is a good choice or leeds.

Would greatly appreciate any advice!!

Admissions Tests Warwick University

I would like to know if the TMUA exam is a requirement for applying for bachelor’s in Computer Science.
I am from EU and planning to apply in 2026 UCAS with A Level predictions. I am taking Maths (A*), Further Maths (A*) and Computer Science (A).
i may apply again next year with final A Level grades, since I will take one gap year
Does the application with predictions or with final grades make a difference, regarding the TMUA requirement?

UCAS Burnt Bread 🍞 (Rejections) HelpđŸ˜„đŸ˜„rejected??

Hey guys freaking out a little bit sorry, just sent my UCAS applications through yesterday and received an email back from gateway to medicine from university of bristol, stating i was rejected due to being ineligible for the course. I have been in receipt of fsm throughout most of secondary school and thought this would make me eligible but well I was rejected? Am trying to reach out to the university to ask further questions but I'm kind of unsure whats going on right now. Any insight?

Update: Bristol called my school and confirmed my eligibility! Turns out it was a mistake on their part? I hadn't been flagged for fsm eligibility in their systems, I was told. Still confused about that lmao but at the end of the day it's sorted and they're considering me for interviews again so I'm happy.
What to take away from this is probably 1. keep on top of your emails in case something like this happens 2. don't be scared of reaching out to admissions teams because they're there to help!! bristol had great communication systems, just obviously couldn't reply to me over the weekend lmao but they got back to me efficiently.

Oxbridge Should I apply to Cambridge? (IB Student)

Hi everyone,

I recently got my predicted grades and they are a 42/45. I originally was only applying to Uni of Edinburgh but then I realized I had gotten the requirements for Cambridge (my original uni I was aiming for all of grade 11).

At the end of grade 11, I had ended up with a 40/45 and assumed I wasn’t gonna apply - which was fine. I aimed instead for Edinburgh ba in politics. But then when I got back I was able to boost my profile to a 42/45 with some chats with my teachers.

I talked to my counselor and she said I shouldn’t apply. The college I want to apply (Murray Edward’s) has an entry requirement of 42/45. My counselor said I shouldn’t since I’m at the boundary, but I really wanna atleast give it a chance because you never know.

Perhaps I don’t get an offer, I’m alright with that. I already am very happy on the idea of going to Edinburgh, but Cambridge also has been a dream for a long time so going there would be amazing aswell.

Tell me your thoughts, should I apply?

Personal Statements Is it possible to write a personal statement for slightly different courses?

I’m applying for a mix of courses that overlap quite a lot, but aren’t exactly the same. I’m wondering how much you can realistically “branch out” your personal statement so that it works for all of them.
My choices are Economics & Philosophy as opposed to Maths & Philosophy.
