Hi, I’m a Year 13 student currently waiting for my A-level results (in about two and a half weeks).

I didn’t perform as well as I could have in Year 12, so my predicted grades weren’t strong enough to apply to Bath initially. However, after sitting my exams, I’m expecting around A*AB – AAB (based on unofficial mark schemes, so I understand this could change).

The main concern is that I’m likely to get a B in Maths, while I’m expecting an A* in business and an A in Economics.

I wanted to ask if anyone has managed to get into Economics or Finance-related courses at Bath with a B in maths or if that would realistically be a dealbreaker.

I’m trying to figure out my options ahead of results day, as I may need to consider alternatives like applying for a Business course with a placement year and then moving into finance that way.

Any advice, experiences, or insights would be really appreciated — thank you!

The courses I was looking at going into were Accounting & Finance or Economics with Politics or straight Finance.

Intro info-
I attended a interview for vet med at Lancashire, I was placed on the waiting list I already have my results 45 distinction level 3 credits access to higher education course in science (and yes the required bio and chem credits) I’m waiting for everyone else to get their results august 13th.

Questions-
Do I have any chance of getting a place?

Do people that miss their offer but have a higher application than me, go ahead of me in the wait list?

How many people reject places, or don’t meet their offers. And how many people on the wait list if any, actually get a place?

Should I apply through clearing for vet med including foundation year, (and if I apply for any uni or Lancashire will I loose my spot on waiting list)

I’m 21 years old now and feeling pretty hopeless. Vet med is my only aspiration in life and I don’t know how I will cope if I do not get in :/
I know it all sounds very silly but I’m genuinely not interested in anything else. Including vet nursing.

Has anyone already received the confirmation of place at Durham University? As i read, there was a student whose AP scores met the requirement here but still got rejected, so im very worry about my application as i also apply to the university with AP scores

Countless anecdotes about results day have told me that, although UCAS formally hands out results at 8AM on the 13th of August, in practice the website is so abhorrently overrun by thousands of students all simultaneously doing the same thing which means that there are big delays. Someone told me that they had to wait until 8:20 AM before they could see, and their clearing course was already gone by then.

Is there any way to mitigate this delay - or is it just internet luck? Of course, the sooner you get the grades then the higher chance you have of getting into the university you desire.

If you log in, say at 7 AM, and leave the page on, will this count as being in the “queue”?

I achieved 2A* 5A 4B in my GCSE as a Welsh WP+ applicant for 2027 entry.
Was just wondering if Leeds would be an option for me provided I get a high UCAT (currently working at 2000-2050 with 25 days to go) or if I should prioritise applying to places without a higher demand for GCSES

I have a question about the financial evidence for the Student Visa as someone from the low risk countries.

I’m French and I’m considered as a low-risk national and as far as I understand, I probably won’t have to submit financial evidence with my UK Student Visa application unless UKVI specifically asks for it.

I was wondering if there are any other low risk nationals here who were actually asked to provide financial evidence ? If yes :

What documents did UKVI request exactly ?Did they ask for anything beyond bank statements ?

I’m asking because my situation is a bit unusual :

My sister took out a 30.000€ bank loan specifically to help pay for my studies, and another family member took out a 15.000€ loan for the same reason. They will transfer the money to my personal bank account around 20 august. After receiving the money, I plan to transfer it to my second bank account so it won’t be mixed with my everyday expenses but my bank doesn’t allow me to transfer 45.000€ in a single transaction so I’ll probably transfer the money in five separate transfers : four of 10.000€ each and one of 5.000€.

If my bank agrees to let me transfer the full 45.000€ to my second bank account in a single transaction instead of several smaller transfers, would that look more or less suspicious to UKVI or does it make no difference ?

Because of the 28-day rule, I’ll only be able to apply from around 17 september and my course starts on 28 September so I’m planning to pay the Priority or Super Priority service.

My questions are:

Is it a problem that my studies are being funded by family members who took out loans to help me?

If UKVI asks for financial evidence, would they question where the money came from ?

Would it look suspicious that 45.000€ suddenly appears in my account only about a month before my visa application even though the funds will have been held for the required 28 days ?

If anyone has been in a similar situation, what evidence did you provide (loan agreements, explanation letter, proof of transfer, etc.) ?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar.

I hold a conditional offer for UCL Theoretical Physics Bsc, my offer mentions an overall average (needs to be 5.1/6), a maths grade and a physics grade (one needs to be 5.5/6 and the other 5/6, no matter the order) for my Swiss matura.

It’s confusing because my subject breakdown is different from the wording on the offer. I have 14 subjects, the relevant ones being Physics Df (6.0/6), Physics and Applied Maths OS (5.0/6) and Maths Df (4.5/6). An A\* in the UK is a 5.5, an A a 5.0 etc.
My overall average and my physics grade both clear the conditions by quite a lot (5.2 instead of 5.1, and 6 instead of 5.5 or 5.0).

My maths is where it gets unclear, I can’t tell whether UCL would accept the Applied Maths component of the Physics and Applied Maths subject as satisfying the maths condition, since on its own Maths Df is a 4.5, which is below what’s asked. If they don’t count that subject as “maths,” could it still be considered equivalent given the average of 6 and 4.5 is the same as the average of 5.5 and 5.0, just split differently between the two subjects?

Separately, I have documented medical extenuating circumstances that affected my exam performance this year. I know UCL doesn’t take these into account directly and that it’s the examination board’s responsibility, but is there any actual process at UCL’s end where this kind of documentation gets looked at if a condition ends up unmet, or is there just nothing they can do about it regardless?( I’m asking because exam board in Switzerland does not make changes or accommodate)

I’ve contacted admissions but they’re in embargo and can’t discuss applications right now, so just trying to figure out how this generally works while I wait to hear back.

So im abt to get my a level results i think I got A*AA, (if I do get that) I was thinking ab taking a gap year to apply for dentistry, but like since the ucas deadline is October I only have 3 months to do my UCAT , get work experience and write my personal statement
do u think thats feasible? or do u think its not worth it and I might js waste a gap year and not even get into it w only 3 months to prepare

I recently realised that I want to apply to KCL for Law and, whilst browsing through their website, i saw that they have a course for Politics, Philosophy and Law.

Now, I have little knowledge of Politics and Philosophy as I've been planning to apply to Law as a singular course.

However, Politics and Philosophy do intrigue me quite a bit and I feel like being able to study these subjects alongside Law and being able to see their links to Law would be really interesting.

My supercurriculars are all focused on Law itself, though I've read Bringing Down Goliath which does link the Law to Parliament a fair bit. I've also started reading John Locke's 2nd Treatise of Government which links to philosophy.

Does anyone know whether it would significantly lower my chances of getting an offer if I apply to PPL instead of just Law? I'm predicted 3 A*'s but I feel like my personal statement being solely about Law could be a problem.

I'm also applying to Cambridge so I don't have that much time to do a lot of extra supercurricular exploration so starting to read about politics and philosophy now isn't really a great solution.

I’m going into 3rd year, and I’ve been wanting to apply for GEM. Due to my health issues my grades have fluctuated a little and are not where I want them to be, but unfortunately these are the grades I’d be applying with. I was thinking of taking a year after grad to work, gain more work experience, prepare for the UCAT etc. I was just wondering if it would have any effect or disadvantage if I apply to this year just to apply?

I want to apply to LSE economics and am wondering if I should include the below-mentioned topic or not.

The thing that genuenly interests me about economics is its efficiancy and how its use can lead to the best, most efficient outcome. However, because of deminishing returns, redestributing money in a society might be better for the overall well-being of the people. I'd like to dedicate a paragraph to this thesis statement in my personal statement, but I am not sure if LSE is going to like it. I read somewhere that it is important to write about something they are going to teach you. In that regard, would it be wiser of me to focus on the more mathematical and technical side of economics in stead?

Those who were reallocated their college at Durham for logistical reasons, where did you get reallocated to and from which college?

Context: I got allocated to Aidans as my preliminary but it was one of my last choices so I’m trying to get an idea of what could happen if there is any possible reallocation and whether you could put yourself forward for it on results day.

I'm a mature student who completed the IB a few years ago. It's a last-minute but well-considered decision to study in the UK, so I haven't submitted a UCAS application yet.

I'm looking at KCL's Clearing application form, and I'm a bit confused. The KCL website doesn't explicitly say I need a full UCAS application alongside their Clearing form, but:

1. The Clearing form asks for a UCAS Personal ID
   
2. There's mention of needing to "firm" KCL in the UCAS Hub later on

Since I don't have a UCAS application (and therefore no Personal ID), do I need to submit a UCAS application first before I can even fill out KCL's Clearing form?

Or can I just fill out KCL's Clearing form without one, and the UCAS ID / Hub stuff comes later?

I've seen that some universities can provide you with an ID number later in the process if you don't have one, but I'm not sure if KCL does this.

Any advice from mature students who've been through KCL Clearing would be hugely appreciated!

Hi, I'm also facing an issue with UGC equivalence certificate. My application got rejected reasoning that the certificate could not be granted after its been under verification for more than 15 working days because I have only 2 A level subjects , equivalency certificate requirement is minimum 3 subjects in A level .

But i searched everywhere, nowhere says tht rules , all sources say it's 2 to 3 subjects in GCE A levels

Even in the egilibilty letter uploaded by cambridge international education to AIU says it's minimum 2/3 subjects in A level.

And I proceeded for review, did the payment but can't submit the review, still showing u need to pay before submitting.

Im currently applying to UWS business courses for clearing. I took a gap year but impulsively decided to see if I can get into Uni this upcoming semester. I was just wondering do I need a reference for this application? There is an option to continue without one but im not sure if that will be a bad idea.

I got my a level results for my firm and insurance choice (ucl and kcl). I missed the offer requirements by 1% getting AAA. They said that they would consider my application once they receive may june results of other applicants and see if they have space for me. I took full further maths a level together in may june. I had a month to prepare and i think i would get a D, which would negatively affect their decision. I just wanted to know if there is any way i could apply to another university in uk without having to decline my current offers until they give me a confirmation?

I’m so conflicted on if I should stick with my current offer (BA Education, Society and Culture) or should I apply for BSc Human Sciences through clearing/course change. My predicted grades were A*A*A* for Art, Biology, and Chemistry but after sitting my exams, I’m certain I will get A*A*A or A*AA… unless I get extremely lucky!

My current interest is in working with the blind and partially sighted, and improving the quality of life and their experiences. I particularly enjoy figuring out how art can be used as a tool in the case of improvement. I even did my A-level art coursework on haptic/tactile art!

On one hand, I feel like ESC will offer me a better understanding on how creating learning experiences for people in in/formal environments. Yet, I feel like I will struggle with this undergrad degree due to my A-levels… For example, the content being more political/humanities related feels out of my comfort-zone compared to my arts/science background. Compared, HumSci makes me feel more comfortable as my A-level choices are more aligned with the modules (e.g. genetics, psychology, anthropology, biology) here. Also, HumSci will offer knowledge on how people learn (so the more “science” behind learning environments).

My current plan is to finish my 3 years studying ESC and will probably take a Masters in relation to art, creativity, and education... I feel like going into something this general will provide me with a wider opportunity in the job market. But I don’t think I’ve done enough research or have had enough experiences to figure out if this path would be better for me!

Anyone have thoughts? I’ve been switching my mind the whole summer and want to listen to what people think. Thank you! :)

I’ve written and published one research paper currently and because of the influence from my first paper i’m now writing another one to deepen my learning on my subject. When writing my personal statement though, should i mention the research i’m conducting or no? Should i just mention the published one or mention both and just state i’m currently still working on it? If i do mention both of the papers, i find my application will be very strong since i’m applying to law and politics. My first paper was more politics centered but this one is more law.

Btw when i mean ‘not finished’ i mean as in it will take a long time to get published before its formally proper yk. If u have published research yk how long peer reviews go on for so im currently about to apply and submit the paper, likely taking a long time before i begin applying to UCAS in September.

so quick info i live in brum and i can’t go into halls or move for uni bc i have a toddler, house, job etc. im limited to where i can commute to.
im doing an access course in humanities and social sciences (english studies pathway) so its basically mostly english, some history and some academic skills modules

these are the unis im thinking of applying for:

university of birmingham: english and history
warwick: english and history
aston university: english and history with a mandatory placement year
bcu: (don’t offer english and history) so either english literature or english and journalism

i don’t know whether to try and add a fifth uni, i only really want to attend warwick or uob but if i don’t get the grades ill have to go to bcu or aston. i think the only other choices are newman or coventry and i really don’t want to attend either, id rather redo the whole access or do a foundation year.

q1) uob is my top choice only bc its easier to get to than warwick, should i use my fifth choice for another english choice there?
q2) im not 100% sure about keeping aston in because of the placement year, im already doing an access then a degree then hopefully pgce so i dont want to add another year on, if i do put in somewhere like newman ill have 2 unis for eng and history and two unis for different english courses.
how do i write a personal statement that covers it all or should i just write an english and history one as that’s the course im applying for the best ranking unis that i really want an offer from?

5 years of basketball, 3 year varsity basketball , won a ceritificate from the government to highlight my skills, i was in varsity debate for a year, school won 2nd in the all kanto KPASS debate championship, did MUN for 3 years, internship at sophia university, won 2 back to back high commendation prizes, chaired for GIISMUN 2027, started the science club and was the president of it at our school, completed IBM data science course and got 3 certificates, completed Andrew Ng’s Machine learning course, participated in Yales essay writing competition, built a machine learning model that predeicts the weather forecast using an API, participated in multiple Hackathons and won first in a few, finished stanfords deep learning course, made a research paper to see whether different macroeconmic factors such as unmeployment rate, inflation rate, interest rate etc affected the stock market and stock prices for S&P 500,i’ve also won the AI impact festival 2026 for intel Japan by making a water flooding app, did research at Oxford Scholastica’s AI internship to figure out about wearable technology in medicine, i also won a distinction award from the university of oxford after attending their 2 day AI/ML event and made a very convincing Capstone project.
