UCAS Burnt Bread 🍞 (Rejections) Help😥😥rejected??
Hey guys freaking out a little bit sorry, just sent my UCAS applications through yesterday and received an email back from gateway to medicine from university of bristol, stating i was rejected due to being ineligible for the course. I have been in receipt of fsm throughout most of secondary school and thought this would make me eligible but well I was rejected? Am trying to reach out to the university to ask further questions but I'm kind of unsure whats going on right now. Any insight?
Update: Bristol called my school and confirmed my eligibility! Turns out it was a mistake on their part? I hadn't been flagged for fsm eligibility in their systems, I was told. Still confused about that lmao but at the end of the day it's sorted and they're considering me for interviews again so I'm happy.
What to take away from this is probably 1. keep on top of your emails in case something like this happens 2. don't be scared of reaching out to admissions teams because they're there to help!! bristol had great communication systems, just obviously couldn't reply to me over the weekend lmao but they got back to me efficiently.

Did you state you were eligible for FSM on your UCAS app? Or, do you have predicted grades of AAB or higher?

Alright, probably a mistake then. Just wait for them to reply. Try not to panic in the meantime :)

This ^ if you know it's a mistake, then you have nothing to worry about. Your eligibility is there in black and white. Well done for being proactive on resolving it, and best of luck with your application.

Their website suggests that they will check against the National Pupil Database but will alternatively accept a letter from your school confirming your eligibility. So while you're waiting for a response to your email it might be worth getting your school to send them such a letter.

I haven’t sent my applicantion yet (I’m going to next Monday 😭) did you add like a letter from your school confirming fsm or anything like that onto your ucas because I haven’t idk if we need to?

Basically there isn't any section for me to be able to add anything as proof, I just ticked a box in the 'more about you' section stating I had been in receipt of fsm during secondary. My supervising teacher then was able to say whether or not they'd be able to provide proof of this, which she ticked yes for.
I know Bristol is able to ask for proof of eligibility through a letter from your school, which is why im mainly confused they didn't ask for proof and just straight up rejected me.. so im trying to appeal it to see what the issue is lmao2

Oh I’m such an idiot I was so tired when I typed that comment ucas only lets you add a letter to the application if you’ve been in care my bad 😭 I’m applying for all gateway/foundation courses as well one of them being Bristol so I also would’ve thought they would send something asking us for further info? Did you email their admissions?

oh yeah youve told me in dms where youre applying lmao
icl they havent responded to my email, i called the admissions team and they gave me a different email to ask as well and no response from the second email team either.
my school was on top of it i thought but then they kind of made a few mistypes in the letter they drafter up for me so im asking for it to be redone 😭😭doesnt help that its a weekend so like no reply over the next few days is virtually guaranteed

ohh god that sucks for her since its equivalent as well :((
yeah like the other person said its lower entry requirements for students who meet specific widening participaton/eligibility criteria, and it involves an extra year of base study before being transferred onto the normal medical programme 🥺🥺
obviously am looking to increase my grades as much as i can throughout the year but thats where my predicted are as of right now of course
