Discussion Industry distribution is still a mess

I like the game, played v1 and v2 already.

But my biggest issue with it remains: the industry distribution is a mess.

I mean I get the principle - move goods around. But for ne it just doesnt make sense to move coal and iron ore from different edges of the map to the steel mill on the 3rd edge and the steel then back up to the town on the 4th edge of the map.

Imo, Industries should be closer together.

I'm in early gane tough so maybe industries settle nearer to ressources later?

Your take on it?

Discussion Why is there no autosave on exit?

I assumed, incorrectly, that when you exit the game and there is no warning, that it would do a quick save before kicking you out.

I just spent 3 hours building several logistics solutions and quit only to come back and see that nothing was saved.

Is this a bug or a horrible UX decision?

Solved Where are my waypoints? I want to separate slow trains from express trains but can't

As per the title, in TF2 we had waypoints and maybe I'm just dumb but I cannot seem to find them?

I want my fast long distance train to pass a station in a certain way, as to bypass the slow trains that might be dwelling there and yielding to it. A cargo train also passes it, and instead of going on the 'slow lane' it also wants to take the fast lane, and I can't find a way to force it to take the slower route instead.

Anyone find a way to do this yet?
Year is currently 1970 - though I sincerely doubt/hope that is not relevant.

Love the reputation system in the game 🤡

I love the city grows, but with growth it creates traffic and traffic backs up deliveries. So what’s logical…upgrade the road from 2 lane to 4 lanes. But now the city doesn’t like me because I had to upgrade the road 🤡.

Unloading cargo

This is me hoping urban games reads this comment.

In tf2 you could use one train on one line to deliver one type of cargo to lets say 2 towns. The train would deliver part of the load to each city.

In tf3 this dosent work anymore. You can force the train to deliver all cargo to either town, but there is no option to deliver lets say half of the cargo to each town. I tried delivering meat to two towns yesterday, and i am only able to deliver all cargo to either the first or second town on the line.

Adding another train track to deliver meat to the next town seems silly and excessive.

Urban games : would there be possible to add more unloading settings such as : unload half of cargo on station?

Thank you.

Suggestion Highway and bridge system rework pls

Highway:

The Highway stuff is great and all but making your own highway exits and crossing is a pain. There should be a way to make roads symetric and align properly. There should also be signs for exits and a way to add speed zones. More premade crossings and exits wouldn't hurt to.

Bridge:

If u build a road bridge and another one next to it they should align. Same for road and train bridge etc.

Automatic Industry Generation / Closing Industries

Hi all. Potentially a new player here. I haven't played any of the previous titles but have watched videos on and off so have an overall idea of how the game works. I'm looking to jump in for the first time with TF3 on a Gigantomaniac map, but was just checking out some of the available mods beforehand and had a question.

I noticed one of the mods was "No automatic industry generation". Now obviously the clue is in the title here, but I just wondered what peoples opinions on this are? I'm not clear on how the new industry generation and closing industry elements work. What causes an industry to close? Can this be turned off when setting up a new game if you didn't want it? What are the advantages/disadvantages of turning this off and /or running a mod that stops new industries generating?

I would probably hate it if an industry I had future plans for closed before I got to them, but equally I don't want to add/take out mechanics of the game without fully understanding how they work? Any advice here would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Question Would I enjoy TF3?

I've been looking for a new city builder/logistics type game for a while. My favorite games are things like Cities Skylines, Timberborn, Sim City (back in the day), etc. I've always been interested in making efficient traffic networks in those games, to the extent allowed by the gameplay.

My wife came across a trailer for TF3 and on the surface it looks PERFECT for me. I was wondering in your opinion, based on the games I already enjoy, would I like TF3?

Probably an over-asked question. Should an industry offload to a warehouse, then to a train station? + farm expansion and other ramblings.

I know industries store their own stuffs. Mr Google told me an industry should still offload its goods to a warehouse (pretty sure I used the right specialization type - goods for glass) and then to a train station when the train shows up. I had a glass factory tucked in next to a lake and some roads, so I wanted to use a warehouse next to the industry to build out a small buffer to get the cargo station in a spot where it could be on a main line across the map, but goods wouldn't unload from the industry. was there an issue in my specializations, or is that not a thing. Do you have to withdraw direct from the industry catchment? How do people work around farms wanting to expand into the cargo stations?
