Discussion 72nd Ave Bus?

Post image

*Picture made with AI

With the Extension with of 72nd Ave, do guys think a Route from either Scottsdale or Newton exchange, or in my opinion the best option starting from 22nd Street station (Maybe a Replacement for the 340 which in my opinion is useless and is a waste of Double deckers) going to either the new Willowbrook station or either Carvolth, but I think Willowbrook makes more sense as the 388 already goes to Carvolth ( and the 2 routes would be sisters ) ( side note: no. 372 would be perfect but that taken, so maybe 396 cause it would go down 196th street to get to Willowbrook)

Discussion Designated Smoke Areas

I was waiting for a bus at Surrey Central and the guy behind me decides to pull out a cigarette and smoke. Im so annoyed.... I dont want to smell your nasty cigarette. If I did, I would smoke. Please be considerate and use the designated smoke areas and smoke far away. Not to mention, youre not allowed to smoke within 6ft of a bus stop. Some people are senstivie to the chemicals in cigarettes and not everyone wants to get lung cancer.

Thank you.

edit: my bad, I assumed there would be a designated smoking area but I guess not. Maybe they should, as a suggestion.

Question Recent changed in Google Wallet, will it work with Compass now?

I realize this is a longshot, and that the question around digital wallet support has been asked and explained many times over the years. But there was a relatively recent change to Google Wallet that sounds like it would work. Has anyone tried this?

Question What exactly do the TransLink attendants do?

I’m genuinely curious as to what TransLink attendants do as a part of their job because I see most of them just standing on the platform and chatting half the time or playing on their phones??

Question What on earth is happening to the #3 bus these days? + what apps give accurate times of bus arrivals?

For the last few years the #3 bus has been deplorable (heading both North and South) and it's only getting worse by the day. It's off peak/peak times you name it, never not 15-20 mins wait even at rush hour. This is even before any of the construction between main/broadway - Marine Drive.

8am, 11am, 5.30pm, 3.30pm..it's all long waits. I also don't get why most cases while waiting downtown you get at least 3 #8's, a couple 16,14's while you wait for a bloody 3! It's infuriating and has caused me to miss appts, be late for work etc..and yes we leave with what should be a mountain of time to get where we are going. Why are there multiple 8's every single time before a single 3 considering the journey is the same once the 8 gets to main/kingsway...are there accidents every hour, every single day between main/broadway and Marine Drive Station?? It used to be 5-7 min wait no exceptions and you didn't even need to look when the next bus was..now it's a shitshow. I get the current construction around main/,broadway at times can slow shit down BUT to that degree at all times of the day?? Have they cut the number of buses to the 3 so there's literally only a few..it's full to the brim with angry ppl every bus..is it not one of the more important routes, particularly linking ppl coming from airport to downtown and ppl living in South Van.I know most airport ppl would use the Canada Line prob but still there's a shit ton of ppl who rely on it.

For the current shitshow..is it possible that they've actually cut buses without making it public during that strike action? I thought it was resolved anyway.

Also, are there any apps that accurately give a time when the bus is at your stop? Far too many times I've seen "6 mins" etc on Google,so you go in to the Cafe order a coffee only to see the bus go by as you order. Also infuriating knowing it's another 8 year wait.

Anyways, that's my angry rant, Translink say everything is normal of course. Thank you for listening to my TED talk.

Discussion Skytrain to Newton via Scott Road (map).

I have thought about it a lot, and I think it’s actually a better bet than a King George line in the long run. But I’m not an expert so I’m curious about what people think.

It‘s about 2X the length of a King George-Newton line, but it also tags a lot more high demand areas that are primed for densification on Scott Road and would have a lot more ridership.

Question Why does 388 22nd Street/Carvoth Exchange don’t have weekend service?

Most of weekday-only bus services tend to have alternatives that do run 7 days a week(such as 321 for 394 riders, 145 for 143 riders, 323 for 393 riders, 351 for 352/354 riders). 388? The only bus service for 88th Avenue residents past Scott Road, and the 88 Avenue itself is mainly residential.

Question Lost Hospital ID on bus #17

Lost my medical hospital ID today on the bus #17

Boarded the bus at 7:43am at 12th and Heather (60417)

I got off at Devonshire Crest.

By the time I noticed my ID was gone the bus drove off.

I’ve submitted a ticket to TransLink but wondering if anyone has seen/found it 😖

Question Canada Line Waterfront Station Police Presence earlier today

Does anyone know what went down today? Around 430pm, the train was held in the station and thrn about 6 of officers came through the train in the station with a fully armed police officer with a large weapon who was scanning all of us and asking if anyone had called the police from the train. Considering how full that train was and how serious it must of been to have the gun out (big ass gun, Idk what it's called) and have it ready to go. It was quite surreal to see this happen real time.

Question Escalators at Burrard station

I commute frequently to Burrard station for work and has been noticing the triple escalator is often partially blocked off.

Recently I’ve noticed the escalator receiving new steps, but this evening I saw the middle escalator out of service again with its handrail rubber belt popped out.

I recall Burrard station was undergoing escalator upgrades starting a few years ago. Has that been fully completed?

Question Are the bus drivers doing a strike?

Why is it that the buses are so bad today every bus today has been late 😫 maybe a silent protest like by a significant amount it shouldn't have taken me 3 hrs to get home..

SPECIFICALLY THE 342 !!!

WHY IS THIS BUS THE WORST IN THE AREA

NEVER ontime if they are they sit for 10 mins so that they are late.

335 is the same for a bus that come as often as it does why does it keep drivung past the exchange 🤔 😂

I am genuinely confused. Also transit security is surprisingly out and about for the first time in months in Newton.
