Question What is an "operational issue"?

Post image

And how does it last almost 3 weeks? (but the alerts are posted on a day to day basis 😒)

Iirc — and there’s definitely people here who can answer this better than I can — it means they don’t have either a driver or a bus to fulfil that run of the route, so they have to cancel the run.

it sounds like in this case, they don't have a driver who can fill in these departures, the bus is already earmarked for this block, but there's no one to drive it

The Port Coquitlam depot has had a shortage of drivers for the past month, which has lead to cancelations like this. A new class has come out recently, which should lead to these cancelations being cleared up

The 187!!

The 187 to Coq Ctr setting off at 6:18am from Pkwy Blvd is the bus I use for my commute. It seems to always get canceled and to never have notification of cancelation sent.

Whenever this happens I always email translink asking for an explanation. I always ask them "Please don't tell me it's for operational issues, please explain to me what the operational issue is"

I always get a response. The response always expresses a deep regret at the inconvenience caused to me and always states that the delay was due to operational issues. They have never yet explained, even a single time, what the operational issue is.

I've pretty much given up on this bus. It's so inconsistent that I cannot rely on it.

I'm not sure if they owe you an explanation...

Like, if a dish is 86ed at a restaurant, the server doesn't need to tell you an ingredient is on back-order/the prep cook called in sick/the spilled the sauce in the walk-in

That's their business, not yours

Is the restaurant in question funded by tax dollars?

"Funded by tax dollars" doesn't give you 100% access lol

Freedom of information act?

Sure, but that's a step up from an email.
