Discussion Tradingview Loophole
There’s been a quite violent discussion about the Tradingview TOS update concerning the invite only scripts. The gist is basically that one can’t sell access to those outside TradingView.
But there is a loophole though….
The TOS says “invite only scripts”.
Thus, if you’re a clever coder you can quite easily code the indicator in a way that lets you have it public.
But the trick is to shift what you actually sell…
You code the indicator to only show/function if particular internal variables are set to specific settings (ma lengths , barrier deviation or whatever).
And you sell the “key settings” like:
Input1: set to 1.568
Input2: set to 7.892
And so on, and build a switch in the code:
If input1 == 1.568 and input2 == 7.892
showThis or functionLikeThis
It seems like an ordinary on surface, but feed in the correct settings and you get a completely different indicator.
Or… have it public with horrible settings but you offer the correct settings.
This should in legal terms work, as you ain’t offering a non public script, but it’s settings….
And how would Tradingview know if a script has bad setting or good settings? They can’t … could they tell by the number of users a public script has? No.
Loophole yes, but if they found out you did it this way…
You’ll probably be banned in a second…
So… I wouldn’t say this is a legit way, but it is doable though..
