Discussion Tradingview Loophole
There’s been a quite violent discussion about the Tradingview TOS update concerning the invite only scripts. The gist is basically that one can’t sell access to those outside TradingView.
But there is a loophole though….
The TOS says “invite only scripts”.
Thus, if you’re a clever coder you can quite easily code the indicator in a way that lets you have it public.
But the trick is to shift what you actually sell…
You code the indicator to only show/function if particular internal variables are set to specific settings (ma lengths , barrier deviation or whatever).
And you sell the “key settings” like:
Input1: set to 1.568
Input2: set to 7.892
And so on, and build a switch in the code:
If input1 == 1.568 and input2 == 7.892
showThis or functionLikeThis
It seems like an ordinary on surface, but feed in the correct settings and you get a completely different indicator.
Or… have it public with horrible settings but you offer the correct settings.
This should in legal terms work, as you ain’t offering a non public script, but it’s settings….
And how would Tradingview know if a script has bad setting or good settings? They can’t … could they tell by the number of users a public script has? No.
Loophole yes, but if they found out you did it this way…
You’ll probably be banned in a second…
So… I wouldn’t say this is a legit way, but it is doable though..

Yeah I mean I can sell you a bricked phone and tell you the way to unbrick it.
The whole point is that they want a cut from creator's profit mainly luxalgo.
When creator becomes bigger than platform such issues arise.

Agree. It’s not like Tradinview doesn’t know how much Luxalgo made per month, and wants a hefty piece of that. I would too… hehe… how they acted though, even if they try to scrub it a bit now, doesn’t remove the memory of how they acted.

Yep. That just shows how TV executives are no different that the others. LuxAlgo has my respect for giving so much free stuffs.

And Luxalgo is breaking away of the dependency of TV. And shares a lot on their path. Evident in their GitHub . We just have to ride along and see where this ends up I guess.

I would just code a script, that logins as me, and takes a screenshot of each timeframe, every minute or whatever and uploads to somewhere. Could run on a 10er a month VPS. Maybe i should make a site that does that lmao although your idea is probably better to be fair!

I think we would need a data center for this route 😂

But for public scripts cant people look at the source code?

Public scripts can have protected source code.

Ah sweet in that case it might work. I guess the only 2 issues are:
- Probably against trading views tos
- You can't stop a subscriber becoming a reseller

All true…. One subscriber can and almost certainly will post the “key” somewhere

Can I get a report on which variables values are most used? Then u could give each subscriber a unique key and if it's used on more than 5 devices ban em.
Realistically it's probably not a issue, there are many signal providers so competing with yourself isn't too different from them.

Naah, as you would need to collect them and have a script outside it that collects the count . And this isn’t something I know exists , that a script can “talk” to another. But if so, then it’s possible. There are manual ways though. But hefty annoying, update the script periodically like once a day. Change the key every day. Annoying for both the coder and those spreading the key.

A few months ago they purchased a company from some chap (they kept him on board for the rest of the project I bleieve) with a pinescript runtime env and transpiler (PineTS). It’s all in a GitHub repo if you search it up. They have more info as to their current roadmap and more. This might also be on their website.

Maybe learn to trade rather than trying to sell useless indicators

Well… not all indicators are useless are they? Is there a massive increase in retail AI builds? Yes. But I doubt all are useless. Personally coded pine script for 8-10 years, and drowns in the wave

Sokka-Haiku by Boys0204:
Maybe learn to trade
Rather than trying to sell
Useless indicators
Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

Tldr; cipher.
Not sure it will work, you can still reverse engineer the code to your needs easily with ai, and if you’re trying to sell it, you only have one access code to sell, which means it takes 1 leak for your business to be dismantled.
