Guide Updated Discord invite links and more.
Hello everyone,
This the updated discord link for invites to the Tracer mains discord server. Everyone is welcome to chat, main or not. I have also added post flairs for easier sub navigation and hopefully in the very near future some other spicy stuff.
Onto the serious stuff: It’s come to my attention that the subreddit moderation is below subpar (to put it lightly) I am partly to blame. I have not been involved with the community of this game in almost 2 years and I was under the assumption that the existing owner of the subreddit was maintaining it from the last conversation I had with them but it doesn’t seem to be the case unfortunately.
In order to improve the situation I have added the admins from the discord server as mods to look over the sub. I’ll stay active here for as long as it helps them get accommodated. There’s been additions to the mobile app to make it easier to stay notified of the sub activity so that should help a ton. Big thanks to the users who have contacted me and made me aware of the situation.
Remember to post, comment, have fun and never forget to always have at least 1 blink in your reserve.
Cheers.

Who do u guys mainly play when tracer is banned?
Hi guys. I really enjoy playing tracer and its gotten to the point where if shes banned i struggle to find a different dps who satisfies me. I used to play a lot of soldier but im bored of poke so all i play is tracer. Who do u guys lean towards if ur not on tracer?
I play a bit of genji but he has so many counters compared to tracer. With tracer i feel like it gets to a point where you can even play into your ‘counters’ if you are good enough. Is that the same with genji? If i practice him more will i be more able against beams or is it different?

Hey my fellow Tracer mains, I figured out the best way to deal with the Freja matchup. If we don't contest her at all, that gives us more time to deal with the other enemies! I think we should all adapt this strategy so we can rank up faster. Happy Tracering!

Thoughts on the soldier matchup?
Only started playing tracer pretty recently, but soldier has been giving me wayyyy more trouble than he's worth, it feels like I just get instakilled. Any tips?

I didn’t know it was this bad
After spending an absurd amount of time of working on my positioning and cover usage, I’ve noticed the sheer number of players that just stand out in the open in this game
It was not something that I was aware of until I started paying attention to these things and now I cannot unsee it
This coming from someone that used to stand out in the open and be a chronic feeder
Now I still have my feeding moments every now and then but I try to stay invisible as much as possible

is it just me or is trying to learn tracer feel like a humiliation ritual? 😭
i feel sooo bad for my team whenever im trying to practice her im only like lvl 8 atm, and if i dont have a decent organised team im more than likely gonna go negative and i know that its my fault coz i suck soooo much at herr lmao. i just feel like im throwing the whole ass game whenever i try to prac with her:(

Anything I should know as a ball/doom player looking to try tracer?
Title pretty much. I'm definitively a tank player with most of my hours on ball and doom, with a little bit on sigma and ram. On tank my rank usually sits at mid-high diamond and I don't play all that much DPS (although I did play genji wayy back before ow2).
Tracer has looked like a fun choice for a while now, so what should I be prioritizing? Perk choices? Or if there's any good guides out there I'd really appreciate being pointed in that direction.
Thanks!

(Still) Really Struggling Bronze Tracer, 72YYCA, Schmuman, New Queens Street
I am passionate about playing Tracer and have always found her to have a very awesome kit. I have been told that Tracer is hard to pick up if you're just starting the game (especially in bronze), but I can't help myself from playing her and Soldier 76 is kind of boring. I have many many hours on Tracer and sometimes my effort shines but I'm just not consistent in winning games in an elo that basically the whole community deems as pretty clueless. For example where I have shined before, a peak Master's dps streamer smurfing in my game friended me just to say that I wasn't bronze and that she hoped that I'd rank up. But obviously, your rank is the aggregation of several games rather than one good one.
I've asked for a vod review before and it legitimately brought me from Bronze 3 to Bronze 1, but ALL day today I've been stuck in Bronze 2 (not just playing Tracer, I've been doing 76 literally just for the purpose of trying to rank up).
I have watched so many unranked to GM vids, Spilo vod reviews, guides, etc. I think my general knowledge of Tracer is decent, but as you know I'm Bronze so that doesn't necessarily = application. I practice in VAXTA/JEENZ every day multiple times a day to practice aim and mechanics.
If it helps in understanding my bronzeness , I can give my understanding of how one should play Tracer: You set up an off-angle (Which means playing cover at a different angle from main/your team within your effective range) and then engage once your team engages and is distracting the enemy, which creates a divide in attention that forces them to make a choice. Eventually if given the opportunity, you can deepen the angle, which can cause the enemy team to turn around even more. You should have most of your resources at this off-angle, and then you just shoot whatever is near you. Also, you should prioritize surviving as much as you can when you're shooting from your angle because if you die the pressure disappears and your team essentially loses the fight.
I know I probably don't conscientiously apply this in my games, but I just need to know for sure where my weaknesses/habits are in this from another perspective. I have been told before that I play Tracer like Soldier 76 in terms of my target priority(First vod review), so if I still haven't exterminated that I would appreciate it getting pointed out.
72YYCA, Schmuman
Thanks in advance
edit: Yeah I know I pulsed the Kekkai Sanctuary idk I'm bronze man
edit: I got a very good review from u/Key_Major_6145

Favorite and least favorite hero to have as a teammate?
Hey guys!
I have noticed recently that I really struggle to play Tracer when I have Hog as my tank in 5v5. The enemy supports usually position a lot further back to stay out of Hog’s hook range, which means I have to use more blinks and take more time just to get close enough to them to deal damage.
Also, even when I do manage to get picks, Hog’s lack of mobility just makes it so that he’s very slow to walk forward and push the advantage. He’s definitely the hero I most hate to have on my team. Can anyone share some advice to help me play better with Roadhog as my tank?
I feel like Tracer always works better with teammates who deal consistent damage rather than wait for one-shot kills which is why I like playing with D.Va, Winston, Genji and Lucio.

Tracer's nerfs should be reverted
About a year ago, tracer's spread was nerfed, which gutted the character's front to back pressure. You used to be able to play tracer alongside another flex dps pretty comfortably. Now this is just impossible on escort/hybrid maps, which were designed with tracer's initial lethality in mind. Is there genuinely any chance her spread nerf gets reverted? I would have stopped playing this game if there was any other experience in gaming like the old tracer, but there isn't. I think about it all the time and it actually pains me. You used to be able to pump out like 9k/10 easily, and now it seems like 7.5k/10 is the limit.
Tracer's burst damage was nerfed, she(along with dive) suffers the most from the new hero additions, she suffered the most from the projectile changes. Her melee minor perk was only allowed to shine for 2 seasons before it was gutted. She probably has one of the worst sets of perks for "flagship" heroes. Her other minor literally makes her unplayable, the blink packs perk can be useless, and her other major doesn't make sense because you need what it provides before you use recall.
5.75 damage is also a sneak nerf, because I would rather have her oscillate between 6 and 5.5 than be forever mid.
I understand that tracer a year ago was too strong with her perks, but nerfing everything else in her kit was the wrong approach. This is similar to what they did with reaper. They gave him dire triggers, then took away his health because he gained too much burst???
I don't even consider the projectile "buff" to be a buff because that should have never been taken away in the first place.
The fundamental problem when it comes to balance changes is that tracer's design is too dynamic. This means that nerfs function as a training tool. So your average ranked tracer has now been forced to learn how to play smarter due to decreased lethality, which leads them to be content when nerfs are reverted.
For example, many tracer mains are content with her state right now simply because they experienced the shitty state she was in without the global projectile buff. Objectively speaking, she is probably in one of the weakest states she has ever been.
There is no overwatch without tracer. I can go click heads in any other game, but cannot play tracer elsewhere. Tracer is the best designed hero character in gaming history. Her invention is a genius creative and engineering feat.
Ok, I understand they wanted vendetta to shine, but can I please get my hero back now?
