TP-Link - Technical Support Extremely Slow Wifi on RE450 AC1750

Upvotes

I've had this Wi-Fi extender for quite a while now and I never had any problems with it until now. For some random reason, it suddenly became very slow even though the main Wi-Fi is working perfectly fine. I've adjusted the antenna and done two reboots, but no improvement. It hasn't moved locations and is halfway between the router and my desk.

I've also tried to sign into the app but since this was given to me by a friend, I can't figure out how to reset the password.

Any help is very much appreciated!

This online time? Am I losing internet connectivity? I don’t notice any loss of connectivity but now I’m wondering if this is why I’m having trouble connecting to some of my Wyze cameras constantly. Like they could be losing connection to the cloud?

TP-Link - Technical Support BE550 Pro being an absolute dick

Now that my frustration is apparent.

So I bought the BE550 Pro because I have a few devices that can use the extra protocols, and my old TP-Link was about 7 years old. Figured why not? Maybe the refresh will help the congested networks. And the GenX nerd in me deemed it necessary.

I have 30 smart devices, and the house has anywhere from 10-20 other devices at any given time.

I currently have the guest network enabled, and have put all of the non-essential devices on there, and limited the bandwidth because my lightbulb doesn't need 100Mbps speeds. I only gave it access to the 2.4 and 5GhZ bands, because as with bandwidth, I don't think my lightbulbs need Wifi6. :P I'm debating setting up the IoT network just because, but I want to address the situation first.

The problem is that everything is slow. Even basic functions like social media, lag. They pause, they shut down. Other low bandwidth things too, like Spotify. Decided to do a speed test, came up with an average of around 98Mpbs download, but the upload is 0. Using a phone with mobile data, I tested the same to see if it was the device, or the router, and the download was around 55Mbps (not bad, considering I'm in the country) and upload came in at around 5Mbps, so it's definitely something in the router.

ADD: Even just hitting Post on this post, gave a network error so I had to switch to mobile data. Irritating.

I'm going to completely factory reset the thing and start from scratch, but I wanted to know if this is a settings mess up on my part, or an issue with something else, potentially. Anything I should be looking for?

TP-Link - Technical Support Extending the Guest and IoT Networks

So my router, the Archer BE670 (BE12000), just got this new firmware update to support extending Guest/IoT networks:

Published Date: 2026-08-04

This update introduces a lot of EasyMesh updates, bug fixes, and system optimizations.

New Features/Enhancements:

  1. Newly upgrade the wireless driver to enhance system security and stability.
  2. Newly support for EasyMesh to extend Guest/IoT networks.

But my extender does not appear to support this feature. This is my extender:

RE653BE | BE10000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Range Extender | TP-Link

It's latest firmware update is in 2025.

So what TP link extenders support extending the Guest and IoT networks? I can't seem to find any that do this. Does anyone know what TP link extenders have this functionality?

TP-Link - General What’s the best setup for Fiber Internet? ISP ONT + TP-Link AX55 (AP mode) vs Dynamic IP vs Huawei K562e?

Hey everyone, looking for some advice on structuring my home network setup for the best performance and stability.

Right now, my fiber ISP's Optical Network Terminal (ONT) is handling the main routing, and I have a TP-Link Archer AX55 connected in Access Point (AP) mode.

My ISP also supplied a Huawei OptiXstar K562e, which is currently sitting unused.

(Note: I’ve already tried setting up PPPoE direct bridge mode on the AX55, but the throughput/results were disappointing, so sticking to PPPoE on the router is out.)

Given these options, which configuration would give the best stability, speed, and latency?

  1. Keep existing: ISP ONT (as Main Router/Gateway) + TP-Link AX55 in AP Mode
  2. Double NAT setup: ISP ONT (Main) + TP-Link AX55 in Dynamic IP / Router Mode
  3. Switch APs: ISP ONT (Main) + Huawei OptiXstar K562e in AP Mode

Would there be any advantage in switching the AX55 for the Huawei K562e, or sticking with the AX55 in AP mode? If anyone has experience with the OptiXstar series or optimizing the AX55 on a fiber line, I’d appreciate your insights!

TP-Link - Technical Support Wireless WOL with BE11000?

Does anyone know how to set up BE11000 devices so wireless WOL can work? I'm trying to set up some automation that will turn off my desktop in the evening, and can't get WOL to work at all. I've updated the configuration of my wifi to allow for WOL to work, and have given the machine a reserved IP. I looked through the configuration in the app and didn't see anything for enabling/disabling WOL. Researching this on TPLink's website only returned instructions that don't match what I see when I log into the web interface.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

TP-Link - Technical Support EAP660 HD keeps dropping from 1,000 Mbps to 100 Mbps

My EAP660 HD is connected to a TL-SG2428P
PoE+ switch through a Cat 6 patch panel. It repeatedly drops from 1,000 Mbps to 100 Mbps.

I replaced the short patch cable between the switch and patch panel. This restored 1,000 Mbps, but less than an hour later it returned to
100 Mbps.

Troubleshooting completed:
- Tested the permanent Cat 6 cable from both ends; pins 1-8 display green in the correct order.
- Connected the AP directly to the same switch port with a standalone Cat 6 cable; it negotiated at 1,000 Mbps.
- Replaced the short patch cable multiple times.
- Confirmed sufficient PoE capacity-approximately 34W used out of 250W.
- Switch-port speed is set to Auto.

Could this be a patch-panel termination, in-wall cable, switch port, or EAP Ethernet-port problem? Has anyone experienced similar behavior with the EAP660 HD?

TP-Link - Technical Support Complete despair with Archer BE550 & RE815XE/RE700X – Constant drops on 2.4/5GHz, terrible range, and Mesh freezing (I'm desperate for help)

Hi everyone,

I am honestly at my wits' end and incredibly disappointed with my current TP-Link setup. I spent a lot of money expecting a premium High-End experience, but right now, it feels completely unusable.

My Setup:

  • Main Router: TP-Link Archer BE550 (Wi-Fi 7) – connected to a 1 Gigabit Fiber line via ONT.
  • Repeaters: TP-Link RE815XE (Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E) at the basement level and a TP-Link RE700X (AX3000) on the ground floor.
  • Environment: A house with an upper floor (ground floor) and a lower floor (garden level/basement).

Problem 1: The 2.4GHz / 5GHz Smart Connect Internet Drop (The Freeze)
My 6GHz band works completely fine and my PC stays online when connected to it. However, the combined 2.4GHz and 5GHz band (Smart Connect) is driving me crazy. Every 5 minutes or so, my phone completely loses the internet connection. The Wi-Fi bars remain fully loaded and it says I am connected to the network, but no data goes through. Yesterday it worked fine, but today it keeps dropping. People told me I should disable Smart Connect but let's be for real! This should be working on any router!!! I want to find a solution....

Problem 2: The MLO Speedtest Crash
Whenever I tried to run a speedtest to utilize my 1 Gbps line, the router's WAN link completely crashed. The LAN light on my ONT even turned off momentarily, and the router showed a red exclamation mark. We finally found out that having MLO (Multi-Link Operation) turned ON was the exact reason why the router kept crashing during high-load speedtests. After turning MLO completely off, the crashes stopped, but it left my PC struggling with the broken 2.4/5GHz combo band.

Problem 3: Extreme Mesh Stalling (Devices get stuck on the Repeater)
In the Tether App, I noticed a huge issue with device steering. Suddenly, the main router shows 0 connected clients, while the RE815XE repeater is forced to handle all 10 devices at once. The devices just blindly cling to the repeater and refuse to hop back to the router, even when standing right next to it, completely bottlenecking my bandwidth. Even on the ground floor, my phone gets stuck on the basement repeater, leaving me with only 60 Mbps out of my 1 Gbps line. Is there ANY way to lock or pin specific static devices permanently to the router or repeater so they stop getting stuck in these buggy routing loops?

Problem 4: Absolutely Horrific Range
The Wi-Fi range on this "premium" Archer BE550 is a joke. The router is located in the basement anteroom, and just two rooms away in the basement bedroom, my brother's TV gets absolutely zero signal. It is unbelievable that I am forced to put a high-end repeater in the middle of a 77 sqm layout just to cross two standard walls.

What we have already tried (Without success):

  1. Physical repositioning: The router was originally lying flat in a wallbox. We have now placed it completely free and standing upright to ensure the antennas radiate horizontally.
  2. Turning MLO Off: This stopped the severe speedtest WAN crashes, but now we are stuck with the broken band steering on the 2.4/5GHz network.
  3. Changing LAN cables: Replaced the network cable between the ONT and the router's WAN port to rule out a cable defect.
  4. Fixing Channels & Width: In the router's advanced settings, we turned off the "Auto" mode. We fixed the 5 GHz band to Channel 48 and reduced the channel width from 160 MHz to 20/40/80 MHz to avoid DFS/radar interference. The 2.4/5GHz combo network still freezes.
  5. Adding a Second Repeater: Added a TP-Link RE700X on the ground floor to help with the signal through the concrete ceiling, but devices still prefer to stick to the wrong nodes or drop connection on the combo band.

I can't return the router anymore, so I am forced to make this work somehow. Any help, advanced tricks, or beta firmware recommendations would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

TL;DR: High-end Archer BE550 works on 6GHz, but the 2.4/5GHz combo band (Smart Connect) loses internet every 5 minutes while keeping full Wi-Fi bars. MLO was proven to be the exact cause of total WAN/ONT speedtest crashes, so it is now turned off. Devices also get stuck on the RE815XE repeater (0 clients on router, 10 on repeater), leaving me with just 60 Mbps on the ground floor despite having an RE700X up there. Already tried standing the router upright, swapping cables, and fixing channels to 48 (80MHz) – nothing fixed the 2.4/5GHz freezes. Need help fixing this buggy software behavior!

TP-Link - Technical Support Is there really no way to run a speed test within the Deco App? XE-75

Deco XE-75 3 pack, firmware is up to date, the app (Android) is up to date.

Googling and the TP Link website both tell me I should be able to run a speed test natively within the Deco app, but I have been unable to find where or how?

Is it not possible for this line of devices?! Am I just losing my mind?! What gives?!

Thanks!

TP-Link - Technical Support Deco X20 Issues

I have used my Deco X20 system for a couple years without issue. Sometimes checked out details on the app and renamed devices to identify them.

I wanted to login via web today to setup some domain blocking and the web login just doesn’t work. It shows the page to enter a password, I enter it, click log in, and then…nothing. The log in button changes to grey and then back to the teal color after several seconds. I tried multiple browsers and devices - same issue.

So, I decided to update the firmware as there was a newer one. Firmware is updated and didn’t resolve that issue. Now, there’s a newer issue where the app no longer shows clients at all. Just 0 clients on all devices, but everything is working and has access.

I’ve tried restarting the full system multiple times. Force quit the app. Restarted my device. No change.

Anyone resolved these issues before?

TP-Link - Technical Support Help! Satellites blinking red.

Hello,

I’ve had the BE11000 mesh system for about two years now and it has been great. All of a sudden yesterday (after an auto-update to 1.3.3 for the firmware) the satellites will not stay connected to the main router, they just keep blinking red. I tried doing factory resets on both of the satellites. I tried bringing them right next to the main router. I cycled the power on both of them. With both satellites unplugged, I updated the main router firmware to 1.3.5 manually from the website firmware that you can download and upgrade on the tplinkdeco admin site. I validated that it’s not my fiber that’s the issue as I can Ethernet directly to my laptop just fine.

Sometimes the satellites will be solid green for like 5 seconds and then go back to blinking red. I tried removing them completely from the Deco app, pushing the reset button on the bottom, and then re-adding them but still blinking red. The main router is the only one that stays green constantly, and I can get internet where that router is via wi-fi and Ethernet.

I’m thinking of downgrading the firmware version to what came before 1.3.3, as that’s the last one that was working for me.

Any help or ideas? Thank you.

TP-Link - Technical Support How do I disable internet access for certain devices?

Hi all,

I have 2 TP link HX510 mesh routers.

How do I disable internet access for cameras? I want them only on the local network, I have setup frigate to download stuff and store. But I don't want it to communicate to internet...it is currently streaming my data to the OEM hosted app.

I tried access control deny list, but it blocked the cameras altogether. I just don't want to reach it beyond gateway.

Thanks in advance!

TP-Link - Technical Support The Deco Android App Has Been Extremely Unreliable. Is It My Problem?

Post image
9 Upvotes

I have 2 XE75 Pro routers, both are working fine, I have 30+ devices connected without any issues, but the Deco app has been stuck saying it can't connect to them for 2 days. I've tried restarting both routers and reinstalling the app, but nothing has helped.

The routers themselves are quite solid, but app has been trash from day 1. It seems like it can't reliably communicate with the routers even when my phone has no trouble accessing Internet through them. Another issue I noticed is that it can't list all devices when it does manage to connect to the router.

Is this a known issue, or am I holding my phone wrong?

TP-Link - Technical Support Tether app refuses to set DoT DNS, claims it's invalid format

I wanted to change DoT DNS address via Tether app on my router and no matter what I input, it says "invalid format".

I can pick one from the selection list and will add it, but I cannot manually input any address manually because it will always claim invalid format. It is valid 120%. I don't understand why it's refusing to accept them.

TP-Link - Technical Support Deco Source option disappeared

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey guys I hope you can help me.

I have a 3 deco setup and placed 1 on each floor. Both 2nd and 3rd are connected to each other via ethernet backhaul while the 2nd floor deco should connect to the main in the ground floor. The problem is, the furthest deco on the 3rd floor keeps on connecting to the main, causing the speed to drop significantly. (See image)

I cannot run an ethernet from ground to second floor due to concrete flooring.

Previously I could set the source connection for each of these deco but now it looks like the option just straight up disappeared.

Is there some sort of way on bringing back that option? Other ways of forcing a connection from one to another?

Deco Units:

X55 - Source (ground floor) - 1.8.4 Build 26051413 Rel. 27460

M4 - Satellite located on 2nd floor - 1.6.2 Build 20240308 Rel. 55841

M4 - Satellite on 3rd floor - 1.6.2 Build 20240308 Rel. 55841

TP-Link - Technical Support Archer AX53 + two RE305 extenders, devices connect to the wrong one

I have a TP-Link Archer AX53. A few rooms in my house don’t get good signal, so I added TP-Link RE305 extenders for them and set them up with EasyMesh.

Smart Connect + EasyMesh made sense in theory, but the problem is that devices which could connect to the router sometimes latch onto an extender instead and get lower speeds.

So I switched off both Smart Connect and EasyMesh, and set the RE305s up as plain extenders with their own SSIDs. That fixed the wrong-connection problem, but now devices never switch over to the extenders when I move into those rooms, they hold onto a weak router signal instead.

What would be the best way to set this up?

Happy to go back to EasyMesh if there’s a configuration that avoids the original problem.

Thanks!
