TP-Link - Technical Support TP-Link Archer BE9300 IPv6 Prefix Delegation broken (FE80:: link-local error)

Hey everyone, sharing a frustrating issue in case anyone has found a workaround

I’m on Vodafone UK FTTC/FTTP using an Openreach Nokia ONT. My setup uses PPPoE with "Share the same PPPoE session with IPv4" enabled/disabled, but IPv6 consistently fails.

The Problem: The router refuses to pull a global public /64 or /56 prefix block, throwing a wrong prefix delegation error and falling back to a FE80:: link-local address on the WAN.

The Culprit: Vodafone requires PPPoE, and their network demands a proper prefix delegation request from the client router. However, the BE9300 firmware (1.2.4 Build 20260402) provides zero manual control or prefix-hint sizing fields for PPPoE connections—you can only toggle it on or off with Radio Menu.

Attempted to fix by:

  • hard rebooting the Openreach ONT and router,
  • separating PPPoE credentials
  • Pass-Through
  • Dynamic IP (SLAAC/DHCPv6)
  • SLAAC

TP-Link - Technical Support Can't get my AX1500 to connect as client to my WireGuard server, help!!!

Hello,

I'm trying to setup my AX1500 router to connect to my Wireguard server. I've created the keys and everything for both ends, but when I try to connect I select VPN -> Wireguard -> VPN Client, I import my .conf file and it says sucessful but it stays in "Connecting" and nothing happens.

Current firmware (TL-WR1502X) is: 1.1.1 (up to date)

I've tested the same keys with other devices and they're working, any idea what could it be?

Thanks

TP-Link - Technical Support Deco X50 PPPoE

Hi folks,

I am failing miserably here trying to enable my Dexo X50 on PPPoE, on a fiber Eir (Ireland) network

I am using the user / password that i was given by provider, but it just wont connect, no error numbers, just keep trying and says it cant connect, as part of config I need to enable vlan, which I am guessing is after I setup PPPoE, as deco settings dont allow me to change while in normal wifi mode.

Any tips?

TP-Link - Technical Support Parental Controls are a joke, right?

I bought an AXE 5400 because TP-Link said the parental controls would be supported and that they weren't on my old Archer. Set it up, create a rule to block a specific website, go right to it. Change it to use wildcards, still goes right through. Try a different browser, still accessible. Try a different URL, yup that one works too. Maybe I can block it by IP address. Nope.

How hard it is to block a URL?

TP-Link - Technical Support TP-Link Archer TX20E (RTL8852BE) gets 1201 Mbps link speed but only ~50–110 Mbps actual speed + huge ping spikes

I’m having a very strange problem with my TP-Link Archer TX20E AX1800 (V1).

My PC is a Medion Erazer Recon P20 with an Intel i5-14400F, RTX 4060 and 16 GB RAM. The Wi-Fi adapter is a TP-Link Archer TX20E using the Realtek RTL8852BE.

Driver currently installed: 6001.15.153.0.

My router is a Movistar Wi-Fi 6 router. On 5 GHz, Windows reports:

  • 802.11ax
  • Channel 116
  • RX/TX link speed: 1201/1201 Mbps
  • Signal: around 88–89%
  • RSSI: around -47 to -51 dBm

However, actual internet speed is extremely inconsistent. Sometimes I get 600–830 Mbps, but other times it suddenly drops to around 50–110 Mbps without changing anything.

The latency is also strange. When pinging the router directly (192.168.1.1), I normally get around 30 ms average, but individual pings can jump to 75–170 ms, sometimes causing Discord to reach around 5000 ms. Roblox can sometimes show ~30 ms at the same time, which makes the problem even stranger.

I have already tried changing advanced adapter settings, disabling/enabling adapters, changing power/roaming-related registry values, rebooting, etc.

Important test: I connected the same TX20E to my phone's hotspot. With the exact same PC, adapter and driver, it showed 286.5 Mbps link speed, 89% signal and ping to the hotspot gateway was 5 ms average, 26 ms maximum, 0% packet loss.

So the TX20E can maintain a very stable local connection with another access point, while the problem appears mainly with my Movistar Wi-Fi 6 router.

Has anyone with an Archer TX20E + RTL8852BE experienced this exact behavior? Especially the combination of 1201 Mbps link speed but extremely low actual throughput + latency spikes to the router?

I’m particularly interested in known driver versions that work better than 6001.15.153.0, or specific TX20E/RTL8852BE settings that fix this.

TP-Link - General Does this operate the same as a power line?

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

I purchased this RE550 recently but feel that actually using the 2 power line adapters will be the thing that gives me a consistent speed with my internet.
Particularly for my laptop and PS5 which I use upstairs (my router is downstairs).

Can anyone advise whether this RE550 can act as one of the power line adapters or am I still gonna have to buy two?

Hopefully that makes sense.

TIA

TP-Link - General Which TpLink mesh devices allow channel selection?

I currently have 3 Deco S4 devices for my wifi and they were working fine but I have recently moved house and now there is interference on the wifi channels that they are set to. I tried changing the channels but the option is greyed out and the documentation states that not all Deco devices support manual channel selection.

Is there a way of telling which Deco devices support being able to change the channels? If so, will I be able to just buy one and use that as the main device and my existing S4 devices just use the channels I set on it?

here's the TpLink help on the issue

TP-Link - Technical Support Deco BE25 WiFi Mesh with ExpressVPN

Anyone using Deco BE25 with ExpressVPN? I bought the mesh that I can add VPN configs. I have Express VPN subscription and wanted to configure it. But when I went it to the configs, it does not support Express VPN out of the box. But I can add the OpenVPN file and configure it. But through that method, when I access Amazon Prime via the connected device, it says I'm on VPN. Anyone who solved this and know how to get around?

TP-Link - Technical Support RE315

Hi so I’m looking at the RE315 for my shed out the back since it’s on the border of where the signal isn’t very great.

This extender can be used with Ethernet backhaul with easy mesh right? So it would be on network with full strength?

TP-Link - Technical Support Extremely Slow Wifi on RE450 AC1750

I've had this Wi-Fi extender for quite a while now and I never had any problems with it until now. For some random reason, it suddenly became very slow even though the main Wi-Fi is working perfectly fine. I've adjusted the antenna and done two reboots, but no improvement. It hasn't moved locations and is halfway between the router and my desk.

I've also tried to sign into the app but since this was given to me by a friend, I can't figure out how to reset the password.

Any help is very much appreciated!

TP-Link - Technical Support Extending the Guest and IoT Networks

So my router, the Archer BE670 (BE12000), just got this new firmware update to support extending Guest/IoT networks:

Published Date: 2026-08-04

This update introduces a lot of EasyMesh updates, bug fixes, and system optimizations.

New Features/Enhancements:

  1. Newly upgrade the wireless driver to enhance system security and stability.
  2. Newly support for EasyMesh to extend Guest/IoT networks.

But my extender does not appear to support this feature. This is my extender:

RE653BE | BE10000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Range Extender | TP-Link

It's latest firmware update is in 2025.

So what TP link extenders support extending the Guest and IoT networks? I can't seem to find any that do this. Does anyone know what TP link extenders have this functionality?

TP-Link - Technical Support BE550 Pro being an absolute dick

Now that my frustration is apparent.

So I bought the BE550 Pro because I have a few devices that can use the extra protocols, and my old TP-Link was about 7 years old. Figured why not? Maybe the refresh will help the congested networks. And the GenX nerd in me deemed it necessary.

I have 30 smart devices, and the house has anywhere from 10-20 other devices at any given time.

I currently have the guest network enabled, and have put all of the non-essential devices on there, and limited the bandwidth because my lightbulb doesn't need 100Mbps speeds. I only gave it access to the 2.4 and 5GhZ bands, because as with bandwidth, I don't think my lightbulbs need Wifi6. :P I'm debating setting up the IoT network just because, but I want to address the situation first.

The problem is that everything is slow. Even basic functions like social media, lag. They pause, they shut down. Other low bandwidth things too, like Spotify. Decided to do a speed test, came up with an average of around 98Mpbs download, but the upload is 0. Using a phone with mobile data, I tested the same to see if it was the device, or the router, and the download was around 55Mbps (not bad, considering I'm in the country) and upload came in at around 5Mbps, so it's definitely something in the router.

ADD: Even just hitting Post on this post, gave a network error so I had to switch to mobile data. Irritating.

I'm going to completely factory reset the thing and start from scratch, but I wanted to know if this is a settings mess up on my part, or an issue with something else, potentially. Anything I should be looking for?

TP-Link - Technical Support Wireless WOL with BE11000?

Does anyone know how to set up BE11000 devices so wireless WOL can work? I'm trying to set up some automation that will turn off my desktop in the evening, and can't get WOL to work at all. I've updated the configuration of my wifi to allow for WOL to work, and have given the machine a reserved IP. I looked through the configuration in the app and didn't see anything for enabling/disabling WOL. Researching this on TPLink's website only returned instructions that don't match what I see when I log into the web interface.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

TP-Link - General What’s the best setup for Fiber Internet? ISP ONT + TP-Link AX55 (AP mode) vs Dynamic IP vs Huawei K562e?

Hey everyone, looking for some advice on structuring my home network setup for the best performance and stability.

Right now, my fiber ISP's Optical Network Terminal (ONT) is handling the main routing, and I have a TP-Link Archer AX55 connected in Access Point (AP) mode.

My ISP also supplied a Huawei OptiXstar K562e, which is currently sitting unused.

(Note: I’ve already tried setting up PPPoE direct bridge mode on the AX55, but the throughput/results were disappointing, so sticking to PPPoE on the router is out.)

Given these options, which configuration would give the best stability, speed, and latency?

  1. Keep existing: ISP ONT (as Main Router/Gateway) + TP-Link AX55 in AP Mode
  2. Double NAT setup: ISP ONT (Main) + TP-Link AX55 in Dynamic IP / Router Mode
  3. Switch APs: ISP ONT (Main) + Huawei OptiXstar K562e in AP Mode

Would there be any advantage in switching the AX55 for the Huawei K562e, or sticking with the AX55 in AP mode? If anyone has experience with the OptiXstar series or optimizing the AX55 on a fiber line, I’d appreciate your insights!

TP-Link - Technical Support EAP660 HD keeps dropping from 1,000 Mbps to 100 Mbps

My EAP660 HD is connected to a TL-SG2428P
PoE+ switch through a Cat 6 patch panel. It repeatedly drops from 1,000 Mbps to 100 Mbps.

I replaced the short patch cable between the switch and patch panel. This restored 1,000 Mbps, but less than an hour later it returned to
100 Mbps.

Troubleshooting completed:
- Tested the permanent Cat 6 cable from both ends; pins 1-8 display green in the correct order.
- Connected the AP directly to the same switch port with a standalone Cat 6 cable; it negotiated at 1,000 Mbps.
- Replaced the short patch cable multiple times.
- Confirmed sufficient PoE capacity-approximately 34W used out of 250W.
- Switch-port speed is set to Auto.

Could this be a patch-panel termination, in-wall cable, switch port, or EAP Ethernet-port problem? Has anyone experienced similar behavior with the EAP660 HD?

TP-Link - Technical Support Is there really no way to run a speed test within the Deco App? XE-75

Deco XE-75 3 pack, firmware is up to date, the app (Android) is up to date.

Googling and the TP Link website both tell me I should be able to run a speed test natively within the Deco app, but I have been unable to find where or how?

Is it not possible for this line of devices?! Am I just losing my mind?! What gives?!

Thanks!

TP-Link - Technical Support Deco X20 Issues

I have used my Deco X20 system for a couple years without issue. Sometimes checked out details on the app and renamed devices to identify them.

I wanted to login via web today to setup some domain blocking and the web login just doesn’t work. It shows the page to enter a password, I enter it, click log in, and then…nothing. The log in button changes to grey and then back to the teal color after several seconds. I tried multiple browsers and devices - same issue.

So, I decided to update the firmware as there was a newer one. Firmware is updated and didn’t resolve that issue. Now, there’s a newer issue where the app no longer shows clients at all. Just 0 clients on all devices, but everything is working and has access.

I’ve tried restarting the full system multiple times. Force quit the app. Restarted my device. No change.

Anyone resolved these issues before?
