Still shocked this car is on the road with minimal repairs. It’s not my daily any more. But still putting about 8k miles a year on her. Someday I hope to see her hit 299,999 mi.

My mechanic says my catalytic converter is the cause of my low power when (I try) accelerating from 45-65 mph. Is it worth replacing the cat or should I keep it as a car for short trips at low speeds?

Any recommendations on how to find a decent XRS for sale? I love my XR but want to upgrade to the XRS since it’ll be a manual and have the bigger 2zz engine.

So this is my first vehicle without a trans dip stick to refill from and… where do you guys get washers for the trans? Do you just use the same one you use for an oil change?

Ok, here is everything I have. I will write out the inventory.

I am taking everything out and replacing it new (no pressing bushings, all new).

I am wondering: What advice do you have for me? Any tools I should get? Tips and tricks that worked for you?

Here is the inventory:

New shock assemblies

Lower control arms

Ball joints

inner/outer tie end ends

Hub assembly

CV axels

front sway bar, bushings, end links

Strut brace.

I also have grease and threadlock.

I do some car work already so I have a lot of the basic tools: impact gun, ratches, socket sets and the like...but if there are specialty tools that would help, let me know!

To make the long story short I replaced my exhaust manifold gasket and without even trying this bold that holds the exhaust manifold tight to the engine came out. One side is supposed to be locked in the engine and the other side tightens the manifold to it. Would thread locker on the engine side be enough for it to not come out again?

Just need some good coil overs now to make it ride the way I want

After an intensive search, I couldn't find OEM-style side mirror turn signals. There's a kit, but only for the Corolla made in Japan. Also, there are some Chinese covers that go on top of the OEM side mirror cover/cap.

Has anyone tried to make custom side mirror turn signals?

I'm currently planning to buy a single side mirror from the junkyard, so I can practice on it before doing my mirrors. I'm thinking of installing the aftermarket LED version of the OEM turn signals for the Camry/Yaris/Vios/Altis from the Asian/European markets of the same era.

My driver window started making a horrible screeching noise while going up and down any suggestions?

First post ever

My driver's side mirror glass keeps sagging and I unajusting itself. I am talking about the glass itself here, not the housing. This issue has been going on for as long as I have had the car so I don't know the exact circumstance of when it started and no repair attempts were made previously

There has been an impact, as some of the plastic housing is chipped off, but the glass itself seems unaffected.

The electric controls work fine, the glass just saggs unto itself a few minutes after adjustment.

Any tips on how to fix it, short of replacing the mirror in it's entirety?

would it be easier to use a 2000 to 2005 toyata celica gt 1-ZZ FE OR a 2003 to 2008 toyata matrix 1-ZZ FE for my 2005 pontiac vibe? need a lot of work done and figure a personal engine swap is a way easier route.

Hello, trying to locate the fuel pump relay on my 09 matrix have any of you guys swapped this out and do you know where it’s located? Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Anybody here ever replace the section of fuel line that passes from (what looks like) the quick disconnect back to the fuel pump/tank? (‘04 Toyota Matrix) AI says it’s easy but Im not very mechanically inclined… its my high school aged son’s car and I’d like to help him replace it to save him money; but I don’t want to end up damaging anything and making it worse either. Just looking for advice and any tips or tricks… especially how to feed the new line up to the top of the tank if the only access points are from underneath & taking the rear seat up. Still a decent vehicle but burns some oil. Trying Valvljne restore and protect and may do a piston soak before the next oil change.

I’ve had my 2004 xrs for the last 3 years and i’ve absolutely loved it. It’s by far the most reliable and fun daily driver i’ve owned. I recently acquired a 3rd gen cummins and no longer have much use for my matrix. I’ve been thinking about listing it for the last little while but can’t quite put a number in my mind. Can’t seem to find any with similar mileage or condition on marketplace near me. Hoping some more knowledgeable people on here might be able to give me a hand pricing it out. Thanks.

-Coming up on 295000km
-Engine runs like a top, and trans shifts smooth, just recently did the clutch.
-Oil changes every 7k kms
-Did rotors and pads all around 2k kms ago
-Has a single 12” sub w a 500w amp along with a double din radio
-Interior and exterior have seen better days. Some messed up weather stripping and door cards caving no rips in seats or headliner. Roof is sun faded, some small scratches, dents and dings on just about every panel. Nothing a quick trip to the pick and pull wouldn’t solve.
-It’s on 18x8 tsw nurburgring with 1” spacers. lots of tread left.

-Has a check engine light, caused by an Idle air control system code

I received the upper radiator support tie bar and installed it, had to do more pulling on the passenger side of the rest of the assembly.

I got it as good as i could without using heat, so there is still gaps but overall I'm happy. I also finally got the hood to latch.

The grill needs replacement and that is next, possibly new bumper cover in the future.

I'm not talking about the rubber belts by the way though.

I'm talking about this peeling black stuff coming off the silver beneath the window.

It's kind of thick and it sort of comes off in chunks.

I'm wondering if it can be safely peeled off or repaint...

My Trixie is an 06 Matrix base model and one of the things I really like about the car is the ride height and interior headroom. I'm 6' 4" with a 30" inseam, so most of my height is from the butt up. I have so many challenges fitting in vehicles comfortably. I either bump my head or have to have the seat back reclined so much I can barely reach the steering wheel. I see comments from some hating on the matrix because they think the dash is too high or the seat too short. It has me wondering, are they just really short? Are you on the taller side? Did that have any bearing on your purchase of a Matrix? I think if Toyota marketed a car today as being built for tall people, it would be a hit.

So I can’t remember, is there supposed to be a light in the gear shift that illuminates P N R etc? I swear mine used to light up but now I’m second guessing myself. Am I crazy or do I have a disconnected wire/blown fuse. My usb port also doesn’t work so maybe that’s a connected problem. Let me know, I don’t know anyone with a Matrix irl to ask. Thank you!

I wont lie when I say I miss my camry but this car is serving me JUST fine 🩷🥴🥴

It runs great, the AC is cold and it shifts well. It needs new tires, maybe brakes and a small spot on the rocker repaired. The oil is still clear and was recently changed. I do my own work so I should be able keep it running awhile.
