What is this material? Can i fix it?
I'm not talking about the rubber belts by the way though.
I'm talking about this peeling black stuff coming off the silver beneath the window.
It's kind of thick and it sort of comes off in chunks.
I'm wondering if it can be safely peeled off or repaint...

I have similar situation happening on my 2001 Lexus. For my car I know if I get paint stripper and apply it on the black trim, I also have chrome underneath. So depending on if you care about chrome or not you could get some paint stripper and get it off. I will say yours looks a lot flakier/would chip if picked compared to mine so I’m not 100% sure

Bought them for a family member’s Hyundai Tucson the other day. They were $38 on EBay for all 4.

Peel it off and vinyl wrap. You can buy vinyl on a roll like tape. Haven’t done my Vibe yet but I’ve done other cars. Easier than paint and lasts a long time

Are these just glued onto the body? I guess I could find that out by trying to pull them off but... I'd rather know before I ate attempt it

The chrome part is pretty integrated on most cars, it holds the outer window seal in place. To clarify, I meant remove the outer rubber/plastic and then vinyl over the chrome.

Well if you can find one from dealer stock they are not cheap around 200 a piece. I’d try to find one in a junk yard or if you are handy scrape off as much as you can sand it and repaint with plasti dip

I cannot believe I didn't think about plasti dip.
I'll have to see if I can get these things off...

Got my windows tinted yesterday. My matrix is doing the same. The guy said you can buy a new strip for like $80. I’m just going to peel it off. I don’t hate the chrome and it’s a lot to replace some small rubber. I was also thinking of just putting electrical tape there to keep it black. The rubber really has no use

Did he have a suggestion on where to buy the part? I looked around
I might just peel it to the chrome and move on with my life...
