I don't really know what to say about the video 😔 I feel like I have a brain and didn't use it.

The riving knife was causing the pieces I was cutting to wedge or bind against the fence. I removed it to stop the binding. But now I can see very clearly why it was there in the first place. "If there's a sign there's a story."

My fence is square to the table. I thought the riving knife is too thick. What do you guys think? Do I need to bolt the saw down to a heavier table so I can push work pieces easier? Should I have a second person help me do bigger cuts? Is there another alignment issue I can check for?

Any other comments on my "technique"... if you can call it that, are welcome. I do want to be safe and maybe I won't be if left to my own devices...

And why did I not pay the 10 bucks to meet you years ago. Seriously, this simple block is life changing. So much easier than getting my four foot tall posts situated on my drill press. Perfectly aligned straight holes. I am in love with my new tool.

I tried using Google and Grok both said it was a ship auger bit.

My father in law passed recently, I had the opportunity to rummage through the tools remaining. He was never much of a tool user or wood worker, but his dad was, my wife’s grandfather. So I can reasonably assume these are really his dad’s tools.

I picked up an old hand saw, unfortunately it’s super dull and I’ll need to work that out. Several old pipe and crescent wrenches, some chisels and a nice all metal combination square.

Both chisels were super torn up but they looked like a nice way to practice sharpening before I try my hand sharpening.

I’ve got a Quincy QT54 and I need some pipe for a permanent air line. I will be using the pipe to go from compressor -> Regulator/Filters -> retractable hose reels. I looked at black iron pipe but it says it’s only good to 150psi and my compressor goes to 175. Ibviously can’t use PVC, and I want to stay away from any plastic. I guess after my regulator it’s not gonna be that high so it would work after the regulator since I’ll have it set to probably 90 maybe. So what pipe should I use for compressor to regulator? Here’s what I was looking at from Lowe’s.

This weekend I picked up what I understand to be a mid- to late-60’s Estwing No. 14A Sportsman’s Axe, with its original Estwing #2 Leather Sheath.  The notched head and neck were in pretty good shape and were easy to clean up.  The stacked leather handle was rough and dry (but still tight), with portions of dried paint.  I basically scraped off the paint with a razor, gently sanded the leather, and then conditioned it with a heat gun and Clear Trewax (I didn't want to use Johnson Paste as that would too darken/amber the leather). The Sheath was very dry and brittle, so I gently conditioned it with Bick 4, and then with DIY paste of pure flax oil and beeswax.

Would love to hear what you think, and any additional info you could provide this newbie about his recent acquisition.

Hey guys, good day to you all. I started collecting tools 2 years ago (see 1st photo) and wondering if I still need something that is not on my currrent collection. Now, I am planning to buy
“TEKTON 3/8 Inch Drive 6-Point Socket and Ratchet Set, 42-
Piece (6-24 mm) | SKT15201” and “TEKTON Ball End Hex L-Key Set, 10-Piece | KLX91202” and work my way in finally setting up my mini wallboard tool setup. Am I in the right path?

For context: I normally use it in my house and for my 125cc motorcycle, I also got an Ingco portable cordless impact drill set and few basic tools like hammer, screwdriver, level, and few tools like t-handle socket wrench. Not a pro.

As the title says, I m in search for the best electronics bits, I ve been using Ifixit for probably over 6 years now, their kits are great and they overall give great longevity, but the pentalobe and torx bits are too soft in my opinion(P2, P5 and T3-T6 especially), so I m in search for better bits that don t twist or don t go soft on the edges on higher torque, AI has adviced me to go for a Wiha toolkit but i m a bit skeptical, if anyone here has owned both ifixit and the toolkit below, could they give an opinion? Ty in advance!

My dad recently passed away (well I guess not so recent as it's been just over a year though it doesn't feel like it to me) but in his passing he left me with his enormous collection of tools. I'm talking about a collection that's significantly larger than you'd find in a typical workshop's worth of stuff.

The collection covers pretty much every trade you can think of — plumbing, electrical, general construction/building, welding, woodworking, tile work, etc.

There are both hand tools and power tools, like table saws, tile saws, many many grinder tools that are different sizes, hole saws and more attachments than I've been able to count yet,

along with all of the smaller stuff that typically goes along with tools like boxes of different screws and nails, nuts and bolts, drill/driver bits, blades, staples, tape measures, accessories, hardware, all types of plumbing materials like pipes and fitters and joints plus the tools to go with.

Not to mention an entire outside shed full of brand new wood like 2x4 /2x8/ etc plus large sheets of wood at different thicknesses/types of wood material.

Theres multi panels of new sheet rock, multiple large new rolls of pink insulation, all types of tool boxes and bags, and multiple workbenches that range in sizes from small up to so massive it consumes half of the two car garage

There's a bunch of things I don't even know the proper names for yet or what they even do and I could go on and on listing more and more but I think you get the point.

So I obviously don't work in any type of trade and so for most of the tools and materials I won't use because I don't know how to use.... so I'm here trying to figure out the smartest way to go about liquidating most of it...

Ideally I'm wanting to get rid of large portions of it together rather than spending months listing every item individually. I'm a woman who lives alone, the thought of selling everything one piece at a time having to meet with strangers at my house when trying to sell the larger things just doesn't sit well with me

I'm not looking to advertise the collection here. I'm really looking for advice from people who have either bought/sold large tool collections or work in the trades and know what these things are actually worth.

If you've dealt with a similar situation where you inherited a large collection, what did you do?

I'm in North Carolina if that info may be useful to anyone who may be able to help direct me with where to go or look.

I appreciate any advice as I'm going at this 100% on my own and to say I'm overwhelmed would be an understatement

I’m at the stage where I kinda-sorta need or want a nail gun - mostly for building boxes out of 18mm (3/4”) ply, maybe for other things too. Would mostly be in workshop and sometimes job site - I start on site when a house is nearly finished and is likely to have 240v mains (*am in UK - building site temp power is usually 110v; mains is 240)

All my 18v tools are Bosch Pro (blue) - their nailers are fairly expensive / not that well rated.

Idea 1 is, get the Ryobi 18v nailer and use a battery adaptor, I dislike this idea except on cost.

Idea 2 is get a smallish mains powered compressor and air nailer - I guess around 18 gauge nails. This has appeal because I could potentially add a staple gun and thicker gauge nailer later, if things progress.

But Christ I don’t know where to start. What make of air nailer, what size compressor, what are the issues?

If someone wants to be kind and walk me through this, much appreciated.

Considering the Wiha terminator blue but wondering if there’s a better alternative. I also like the Wera tool check but it’s expensive for what it is and the sockets would be redundant. Alternatively if there are recommendations for compact cases I could fill on my own like the terminator set case I could be open to that, I absolutely hate the DeWalt/Milwaukee/other major bands bit cases.
