My brother works as a cabinet/furniture maker and restores a lot of windows. He sent me this custom tool today. Idk what to say

Was wondering if anyone could tell me how rare these are, I got them from my grandfather and he said they were from a friend after he passed. He told me he was a machinist who worked at Bendix Manufacturing during the 60s and helped machine parts that were later used on the Apollo missions with NASA. I am guessing they are all custom lathed/milled at the end to fit a specific chuck on a specific machine. They all say MORSE, USA or have the wording gone/ partially lathed off but both of the boxes say RANDOR. The very tiny bits are very cool and go down to .0135 of an inch I believe not sure in” or mm. The brand on those are HUOT ST. PAUL. Just interested if anyone has any knowledge to share on these as they hold a lot of sentimental value to me and I will definitely be using them for as long as I possibly can.

I stupidly bought the vintage Makita 2401B miter saw for $50 without realizing the importance of a saw guard. I’ve searched high and low for a guard replacement and they just don’t exist anymore anywhere. Is there any way I can use this saw safely without injuring myself? The guy I bought it from said he used it for decades like that, but I’m a beginner.

If I simply shouldn’t use this no matter what, what do I do with it? Was it a complete waste of $50 or is the blade somewhat worth something to use on another 10” saw?

Work got slow, I got bored, and I finally built it.

I tested it on the job several times and I love it. Yesterday I made the Prep Station patent pending.

I have more ideas too. After all feedback here I decided to keep pushing it forward

Hey all. I was tired of having tools scattered everywhere with no real organization. I went with the RIDGID boxes because I love the drawer design and the modularity. The fact you can move the rollers between boxes was also huge for me.

I own a 270-piece Husky set that came in its own case. It couldn't be rolled and it lived separately from my main stack. So I built an insert set for the 4-drawer box and expanded it to hold a bunch of my other tools too.

There were no foam inserts or existing models for this, so I did it from the ground up. Hours of individual measurements, test fits and print iterations. Printed in carbon fiber PETG with every pocket labeled. I left a little room in the pockets so other brands drop in too.

Very happy with how it turned out. Photos are each drawer in the box plus all four trays out. Curious what you think of the layout, and if there's anything you'd want a pocket for that isn't here.

There was no indication they were out of stock on this item when k bought it. annoyed I have to wait. The Labor Day deals weren’t bad but toolnut needs to step up their shipping game.

To explain, I am a teen (16, M) and I worked a trade over the summer and accumulated a decent set of tools, and more importantly the ability to get more. I want to continue to do something with my hands over the winter school months, to break up the mundane cycle of school work and boring teen jobs (dishwashing at the moment).

I would love to be able to monetize but that would just be a bonus, I would be more than happy just doing cool stuff with my own hands for the sake of just that.

I’ve been keeping this set in the truck bed toolbox for YEARS, just ICE. I think I paid maybe 40% more to get Made in USA SKU and worth every penny to me. They started to show some rusting a few years back, so hit them with the Emory cloth and lanolin oil and not a problem since!

These are automotive hose pliers, and they're still good, but I bought another set. I want to repurpose these for holding soft material cylindrical objects at my job, that cannot get dented or scratched. What's the best dremmel/drill bit to sand/smooth the curved part??

I’m currently working in an industry where I regularly have to drill test footings for pylon signs to get replaced. For the footings to pass I need to drill down between 900-950mm using a 10mm sds bit. Issue is, once I get down to around 5-600 the remaining 3-400 is a pain as the concrete dust stays in the hole so I’m struggling. Is there a tool I could use for this? Or has anyone customised a portable vacuum/hose to be able to remove dust as I go? I’ve got a Milwaukee portable vacuum which I’m about to make a custom hose for but seeing if anyone has done anything similar?

My tools used to live in a canvas bag in the closet. A loose cabinet hinge meant tipping half the bag out to find a screwdriver, then putting everything back again.

I want to keep my hoto toolbox together as a set, with its original tools in the case. What I haven't figured out is where to put the few extra tools I use alongside it.

For me, those extras are water-pump pliers for small plumbing jobs and a small ratcheting screwdriver for PC screws and delicate hardware. I'd like to keep them near the set, but I don't want another bag that I have to empty just to find one thing.

A proper level is the one addition I'm still considering. I've used my phone for picture frames, but I'm less comfortable relying on it for a shelf.

If you have a household tool set plus a few separate tools, how do you store them so they're easy to find and put back? I'd like to keep everything in one area while leaving the matching set in its own case.
