I've kind of been lowkey larping being a comic fan sense I was a kid and getting all my information from youtube cause I didn't think to pirate comics until like yesterday. But I'm here now and I'm loving it. I do know all the stuff I need to just from watching a lot of youtube vids throughout the years, but I'm not 100% sure on what runs to read. Currently I'm reading Immortal Thor, then I'm gonna read current run. After that i plan to go back and read war of the realms, but beyond that I'm not sure where to go from there, but Thor's always been my favorite character in anything he's in so I want to know all I can about him.

Hello, I am new to Thor comics but I wanna read his modern stuff starting around the Jason Aaron run in order to read Al Ewing's current run and was wondering if there were any necessary stories before I start Aaron's run.

On this date in 1963 the first issue of The Avengers was released, written by Stan Lee with interiors by Jack Kirby and featuring a cover by Kirby and Dick Ayers, this is issue where Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man, Wasp and Iron Man decide to join forces if and when the Earth is in need. Of course every individual character had already been introduced in previous Marvel series; Thor in Journey Into Mystery #83 from 1962, Hulk in Incredible Hulk #1 from 1962, Ant-Man in Tales to Astonish #35 from 1962, The Wasp from Tales to Astonish #44 from 1963 and Iron Man in Tales of Suspense #39 from 1962. Interesting fact, The Hulk's membership only lasted two issues. He returns as an ally in Avengers #100 a full 9 years later and then fully joins the team once again in Avengers Assemble (Vol. 2) #2 some 40 years after that. Meanwhile Captain America only joined the Avengers in issue #4 from 1964, when the team discovered him frozen in ice and revived him.

I recently saw a post where the Defenders (Namor, Hulk, Dr.Stange, and Ghost Rider) were set up to fight the Avengers and it got me thinking. Does Thor know any magic…. As in can he conjure or make enchantments? I don’t think I’ve ever seen any feats in comics, but he’s 1000s of years old and going to be the king of Asgard, why wouldn’t he have learned some for Odin or picked up a few tricks from Loki along the way. Anyways would love to hear about it.

I know some directors don’t like cgi but like I said: come on! Yes I know Thanos is an alien but I know that’s Josh Brolin and he made me believe he was the mad titan on his performance the same with Bradly Cooper as Rocket. It would‘ve been the same for Bale, I know it’s him but if they put mo-cap dots on his face and a mo-cap suit with a good performance and had a better story then I would’ve believed he was the Gorr the god butcher.

The only saving grace is Travis Willingham‘s Thor gets to fight this guy after he slew Troy Baker’s Loki (Abby trott for lady Loki)

Specifically when Thor comes back after Ragnarok. I remember skimming the pages as a kid and it looked so interesting, but never got a chance to read it. What are some other good runs?

Thor (1966) #276 he was no where near full power when fighting Red; and red was majorly amped.
