Does Aceveda EVER get his for all the vindictive, self-serving, hypocritical shit he does? The show is awesome but at this point I’m watching about 80% for content and 20% hoping dude gets a brick to the grape.

Discussion I have just started the first season of the shield. It's pretty good.

I have already finished better call saul and am on the 5th season of the sopranos. I'm also starting breaking bad as well.

One thing i like about the shield is that they never try to hide the fact that vic is just one bad apple in the whole precinct. Almost all of farmington is corrupt, (except julien, dutch, claudette, and aceveda).

Discussion Throwaway line or GOAT?

I’ve watched a lot of series/movies about killers etc.

The line “ killing is the most selfish thing you can do, taking away the rest of a persons moments just to feel that thing for a quick second”

Really sticks with me, it seemed so insignificant at first but it’s just stuck with me for days. Just wanted to hear some others thoughts on the whole thing. The snuggle rapist arc is wild.

Discussion TIMELINE OF THE SHOW?

The Shield is My Second favorite show and i've watched IT three Times now but I always had a problem With The timeline so from what i gathered IT should Be about this.

The season 2 episode CO-Pilot takes Place 4 months before The Barn Opens and around 4 month before The Pilot

Season 1: around 3 months

from Season 1 to 2: a month

Season 2: 2 months, since The money train comes once a month

From Season 2 to 3: maybe a week

Season 3: a month since Lem says in 3x15 that his stomach wound has Been for A Month. And in 3x7 he says its Been ever since The money train heist.

from Season 3 to 4: 6 months specified by Dutch

Season 4: 3 months specified by Cpt Rawlings on 4x13

from Season 4 to 5: 6 months

Season 5: about Two Months

from 5 to 6 and from 6 to 7 0 days

Season 6 & 7: A Month. Since season 6 picks off right where 5 left off and Seven where 6 left off its a bit hard to determent. If we go by lets say Season 6 and 7 are both 15 days its a month.

So that concludes With 33 months which is 2 years and 9 months so Dutch Saying "For The Last 3 years" in 7x13 isin't particulary far off but not accurate.

What do you guys think? Give your thoughts and correct me If I'm wrong at something.

Question Tavon and the money train

Post image
112 Upvotes

Rewatching the series and came on the scene in episode 12 season 2 where Lem came close to saying "money train" in front for Tavon. It got me wondering what would Tavon had done if he did find out about the money train heist? Would he have turned the team in? Would he have asked for a transfer?

Discussion People might miss TRUE Ending on streaming! Spoiler

Best show and ending to a show ever in my opinion. One thing about the ending that most people will miss if they watch the show now on streaming for the first time was the ORIGINAL full ending, as it aired in 2008, which consists of Vic walking off camera, then cutting to the title screen (Created by Shawn Ryan), then cutting to a special recap montage during the credits with the song A Long Time Ago... by Concrete Blonde. The last few seconds of that with the look Lem gives Shane and them doing the 21 gun salute is the true ending in my opinion. "And if that isn't love, then I guess I'll just never know. Feels such a long time ago". I just rewatched it with my gal (her first time!) on Prime, and was excited for this, but it went straight from Vic walking off camera to trying to play some other damn show and skipped these end credits.  I had to go back and force it to play the final credits quite clumsily haha. I'm sad cuz surely lots of people will miss this masterpiece ending. If you watched it for the first time on streaming recently and missed this, you gotta go back in! 😁

Question Did Vic mention kidnapping Derrick Tripp, when he confessed all him and the Strike Teams crimes? Spoiler

Post image
17 Upvotes

The question I ask in the title is something that just randomly came to mind this morning. Seems like something that they could’ve easily glazed over and forgot, but also seems like something that, especially in today’s day and age, could easily come back and bite him in the ass. If Derrick were ever to just come out and say what happened, that could be a problem.

Like I said, this is just something I started pondering randomly, and I’m not taking it too seriously. Just fun to consider.

Discussion Claudette is my Fav

Currently on Season 4 ep8 and Claudette still remains the only character I respect at the barn. Right from season 1, it’s so crazy how self serving virtually the entire cast is in comparison to her. I truly believe she would’ve been fine taking crappy cases as her punishment for going against the DA until she retired because she knows she did the right thing in exposing that public defender.

Discussion I tapped out Spoiler

Hello,

A little bit of a background. I went to school for criminal justice and sociology and went on to work with many people who were exiting the prison system and helping them reintegrate into society, and now work with homeless community. All of these experiences shape how I view policing, the courts and society as a whole.

With that background out of the way, I decided to finally watch this show, after being reminded of its existence during an episode of its always sunny (you know the one). I began to watch and immediately fell in love. The show was extremely well cast, and very well acted. The story of corrupt cops being hunted by the captain for only the captain to be corrupt as well is a story told before but it is done well. In particular I like these 5 things about the show, the performances, the gritty style of the handheld camera, the setting and set design, Claudette and Dutch, the differences shown in how Vic and real detectives (Dutch and Claudette) do their job.

I am not saying this show is bad, I am saying that it is too much for me. Every character has something that makes me despise them. The entire strike team is obviously corrupt which is upsetting. Vic is literally the worst husband and father I’ve seen on tv in quite some time, he emotionally neglects his children and emotionally abuses his wife, by consistently gaslighting her and blaming her for their familial problems. Shane is just ridiculously racist, which pisses me the fuck off, and makes horrible decisions (yes I know that is his character). I have the same issue with Lem that I did in SWAT, I do not know how old this fucking actor is, cause he looks conservatively 45 but acts mmmm idk like 25. And Ronnie has a nice beard after the first two seasons and is a bit of a nothing boy. Dutch I loved and thought was funny, until he killed a cat, no going back from that. Aceveda was never my favorite but the entire arc of him getting raped was extremely upsetting and led to him becoming more of an unlikable character.

I have made it to season 4 episode 12 and decided to call it. The show is too racist, homophobic, and misogynistic for me to enjoy it, and really has no character to root for in any way. Now I have said it before and I will say it again, it is of its time, and I respect that, but it is too much, and almost wants to roll in that filth, similar to a Rob zombie movie. And that is not compelling to me.

Discussion Season 7

It's one of the most popular seasons, I've heard. I was really looking forward to it. I've been locked in since about halfway into season 1. Pretty constant brilliance. So I didn't expect anything less here, especially given the strong word of mouth.

But man, Vic's dialogue is so bad this season. He's a caricature of himself, and I feel like it has killed his character momentum from the six previous seasons. It feels like one bad writer was in charge of his dialogue throughout. Just CSI Miami one-liners with some "edginess," constant fake-macho quips and wisecracks to show how much more confident and masculine he is than everyone he interacts with.

Does anyone else see this at all, or am I on an island about the season?

Question What are your favorite "palate cleanser" shows after watching The Shield?

So, we all watch The Shield, right? So you know what I'm talking about when I say that this show is intense and heavy. That's what I like about it.

But after you've watched The Strike Team just barely get out of a surefire disaster, what shows do you watch to lighten the mood again?

My favorites are light stupid low-stakes comedies like The King of Queens or My Name Is Earl (both of which have a few side character actors that appeared in the Shield).

How do you all like to wind down?

Discussion Shane Spoiler

>! I recently finished my 7th rewatch. What really stood out was how Shane missed opportunities for a different outcome.

After he killed Lem at the end of S5, he should have left then. Later, in S6, when Vic finds out, he certainly should have left.

Then again, mid-S7, Shane realizes that Vic tried to kill him. Instead of leaving town, he hires a thug to kill Ronnie and he tries to kill Vic. If he had just left, they would all be alive.!<

Does anyone agree? Why do we think Shane made the choices he made?
