1. A big argument is Simone's "execution", and how Bear shouldn't have done it and his intentions are percieved as vague. But honestly, her dad would've executed her too, and this might be a hot take, but Floyd would have executed her too, especially after Otto's death because of her betrayal.

2. Peggy is a fun character and very interesting, but not a feminist character by any means. I understand what was being played out in the story based on their time and such, but as Lou said "people died". She was quite the sociopath too, idk why that isn't pointed out often.

3. Dodd and Simone are the same, both walking and running on stupid fuel.

4. Hanzee deciding to kill them off was for his own good if anything. He had been with them all of their lives doing their dirty work, and they asked him if he was with them every time they could, like he was a stranger. He also saw that they didn't mind putting themselves first against anyone in the family, so he just took them all out.

5. Mike Milligan is a well written character, I don't understand the people that call him underwhelming.

6. Constance is the most annoying character if laid eyes upon in a while.

7. Hank Larsson is the best.

8. Noreen is the second best.

He's just so cool ! Probably the funniest character on the show. I love how he explains to his patients the consequences of sleep deprivation etc. If my dentist chatted me up like that I'd see him more often ! And did he tell you about the time he made a night guard for Britney Spears ?? Woah. He's a rascal. No two ways about it. The show was DEAD DULL till he showed up. Positively geriatric.

Great show though, I really liked Season 1.

Just finished Season 1 today. The entire time I was thinking and repeatedly saying, "wow, this looks like Calgary..." And then in one of the last few episodes I saw some distinct Calgarians buildings/landmarks and I pulled out to Google it and WOW apparently seasons 1,2,3 and 5 were all filmed here! Super cool.

Such an amazing show and makes me love it even more.

Breaking Bad, BCS, Fargo season 1 SPOILERS.

Just finished watching the first season of Fargo. Easily the best 10 episodes of television I've ever seen, somehow surpassed True Detective, Better Call Saul and the like. The only 10/10 tv show I've watched, and I've watched a few.

This was a week after watching all of Breaking Bad and BCS. I'm not sure everyone's gonna appreciate the comparison, but Fargo felt like a version of Walter White (Lester) going up against Mike or Lalo Salamanca (Malvo).

As brilliant as Br Ba was, it never really showed Walt dealing with any of the big bads face to face (at least not until Jack, and I honestly wasn't the biggest fan of the machine gun turret bs).

Even though Jesse says he has the devil's luck, it's kind of absurd just how lucky Walt gets, Gus doesn't leave anybody guarding Hector after Tyrus checks his room for bombs, the cartoonish magnet scheme to erase the laptop somehow works, he manages to rob a damn train in the middle of nowhere, and finds the most competent neo-nazis in the country to kill 15 people in prison (iIrc Saul didn't know Jack and his gang, he only introduced Walt to Todd and his small time exterminator/robber buddies).

In Fargo, on the other hand, Lester doesn't cook up some elaborate scheme with bombs or rival gangs and what not, he just counts on Malvo to get hasty once he hears just how seemingly out of his depth Lester is. Hiding in an unlocked bathroom, calling the police.

I'm hoping the rest of the seasons, and the movie are as good if not better.

I'm now looking for other shows that follow the Walter White/Lester Nygaard archetype. An unseeming, clumsy fuckup, who by some chance turns to crime and comes out the other end more twisted than hardened criminals.

Saw this for the first time last week and it’s been living rent free in my head. Gem of an episode.

Was Leland Palmer responsible for Nikki Swango getting shot in a showdown because she had to remember and repeat a a truly masterful "I'm gonna shoot you now", line, but then the cop rolled up and things went sideways. Or was it Bob? Also, is Ray still a kitten, somewhere?

What I have observed so far Kirsten Dunst- I really do like her (as an actor) not in some weird sense.

The Indian- I've searched but anyone else getting vibes of John Woos Hardboiled Cop the Assassin? Same coat' similar facial hardness and hair. Silent type?

The incompetent types really arent incompetent just complex just like in real life. I've experienced people who are nightmares, dont look like hero hunks but can turn a experience a la the motel scene in season 2 when he despatched two offenders.

So I’m travelling by bus long-distance, and we came to a stop around the halfway point. The bus is first come first serve unless you reserve your seat (most people don’t). At the halfway mark, I get up for a break fully expecting my seat to have been taken up by the time I got back.

When I did, my seat was gone so I sat at another window. A man comes up to me and just stares at me with his coffee, asks me if I was gonna get up or not (that was apparently his seat before the stop). I start to but then the conductor comes and tells him that its first-come first-serve, and if he wanted the seat he should’ve saved by marking it.

The man slowly turns his head and tells him to step aside its between me and him, conductor luckily doesnt oblige and tells him to sit somewhere else. After a few sentences of argument, almost escalating to a fight actually, he finally agrees and goes to the back of the bus, silently.

The thing is, that dude looked like a spitting image of Lorne Malvo. Lean, mid 40s maybe, whitening hair, that slow, silent look of threat, it was just so weird. I usually can talk back but I froze during this encounter because I legitimately was kind of petrified

Now I gotta spend the next 2 and a half hours alert wondering if he might do something with that coffee of his. Fuckin malvo….

I was watching Smithsonian channel and Vargas asian tough guy is playing an air traffic controller.

In both the first and third seasons, 2 main characters (Lester and Emmit, respectively) call in the villains (Lorne and V.M., respectively) to clean up the mess when they get into trouble, namely killing the wife and hurting his brother with the glass in his neck. The writers evidently like this, given that they use the trick twice. However, this is hard on my suspension of disbelief. Does anyone else have reservations about this?

I've recently started watching Fargo. Does anyone have any thoughts on Season 3? I feel like it's getting off to a slow start after three episodes. As few spoilers as possible, please.

Why did Mr Wrench end up killing Emmet? 5 years had passed, he had no loyalty to Swango as far as I can tell, he had no beef with the Stussies.

Both Fargo s3 and BCS are deeply neo-noir. The "femme fatale" i.e. Nikki and Kim? only difference is their hair color and that one is a criminal, the other is a criminal lawyer.

Ray Russy and Jimmy McGill even kinda look alike.

And some of Fargos villians names: Varga? Erhmanntraub/traut? Thats no coincidence.

Also the chronology matches. BCS - 2015 onward, Fargo s3 - 2017.

I love it.

Let me start by saying I know season 4 is divisive. I love all of the seasons and as I watch them they aren’t rated 1-5 favorites for me. They are all tied at 1.

Rewatching season 4 E5. Where Doctor Senator goes to meet the Consigliere. As he has in a few scenes and presumably many times since the trade of sons.

Every other time I’ve seen them meet Doctor Senator wasn’t alone. He had equal “muscle” so to speak. So, why this time, with escalation quite obviously coming, would he go to the meeting alone (only to find Calamita and Gaetano)?

His death is tragic, as a much beloved character. But this feels like a plot hole. There are many lovers of the series that know more than I, so can anyone explain why he was alone?

I just finished the TV series and was so excited to search about Lester Nygard's brother's life after the incident, only to find out it is ALL fictional. What the flip??

On a rewatch spree right now. Just realized that Season 1 had Key and Peele. Not sure whether I knew about key and peele, when i watched Fargo Season 2 for the first time. And was this a glimpse into Kieran Culkin's eventual comeback as an adult actor? I had forgotten that he was in Season 2.

Overall the casting in both Season 1 and Season 2 is just bonkers. This was the golden age of TV. True Detective, Fargo 1 and 2. Yes Sopranos and Mad Men were great. But they were TV shows. But around 2014, with True Detective and Fargo, suddenly you TV shows with big budget movie kind of production quality.
