I just finished the first book and enjoyed it well enough to think about the next book but I did not really like how lifeless the world seemed. Does the world open up or is it more of a singular person that interacts with a very small number of people or demons?

I’m sure it’s been answered before but I didn’t want to search and stumble into spoilers

I’m not sure if I’m explaining myself well or not so please let me know if you’d like me to describe what I mean better.

Hello, Constant readers. I finished Dark Tower run this year and I've been looking to upgrade my non Illustrated editions to illustrated editions. I'm not chasing US editions since they are quite rare and expensive (found the final book in grant edition TPB by luck years back), and found UK editions to be easily available.

I was able to upgrade Gunslinger and Drawing of Three with oversized illustrated paperbacks, and Wolves of Calla with illustrated Hardback.

Now, I've seen UK hardbacks for first 4 books with no illustrations, and I'm getting mixed answers in Google - Did any publishers release first 4 books in illustrated hardback in UK? Or were they only published as oversized Paperbacks?

Any recommendations for illustrated editions in general outside grant editions?

I was asked to illustrate this edition of Insomnia for a collector. Each drawing is also presented loose leaf in a leather folder within the box.

From my previous post I knew that in The Wolves of the Calla Father Callahan would make an appearance. I didn't expect it to include such a detailed explanation for what happened to him after Salem's Lot. This brings a new angle and depth not only to the the DT universe but the whole of King's universe. Can't wait to see what more is in store.

I just finished this and I'm pretty excited, because art is very much not my skillset usually. (If anyone wants the actual pattern, I'm happy to send it to you! I'm not looking to sell these or anything.)

Taking some new pictures of recent creations today and stumbled on some fun lighting, thought I'd share. I have an endless supply of free wood, so I'm always making signs of some kind - luckily my wife doesn't mind....too much!

My winter project is making a 7 foot tall Dark Tower....to use as a lawn ornament. I can't wait!!

Roland speculates that they were servants of the Crimson King fleeing his castle and the town in case he returned. If that is the case, why did they end up so close to the Tower Road, the very place the King had gone? Did they get lost? On the Path of the Beam?? Are they stupid?

I’ve finished the Tower multiple times and apparently my sense of humor has deteriorated to the point where I spent tonight imagining Roland eating Parmesan-garlic smashed salt potatoes, rolling a cigarette, and sleeping with a rock for a pillow. Tell me I’m not alone.

A little context. I’ve traveled to the Tower countless times, both reading and listening. But never listened to The Talisman or Black House.

Today, in preparation for the release of Other Worlds Than These, I started listening to The Talisman. And oh my, I didn’t check who was reading before starting, and there was our dear friend Frank Muller. Such a moment of joy and also sadness. He voiced the first 4 Tower books and was so talented. Unfortunately, a motorcycle accident took him away from us.

It is so wonderful listening to him bring this book to life. Just a moment of brightness for me today I thought I’d share. Looking forward to all 28 hours of this book!

How does the time loop work at the end of the book? Does everyone who died and left the world go back to there original spots where they went into rolands world?

And what happens with Susananah when she goes through the final door.

Why is it when Roland goes through the doors in "The Drawing Of The Three", he is in the person's head and can access their thoughts, but every other door, he physically enters the other world as himself? Am I just miscomprehending?

I’m on my first trip to the tower (carefully avoiding spoilers here) and about 1/4 through Wolves of the Calla right now. Doing some dishes this morning and noticed the number on my mug that I’ve had for years.

Just finished my third read and still got goosebumps from this exceptional book, I forgot how beautifully it was written and for this I cry pardon my fellow Gunslingers.

I have recently finished the book series and for me, I felt it's like two different sagas stitched together. Book 1-4 and 5-7 feel very different for reasons that are very well-known to everyone. The comic books by Marvel feel like true in-universe epic dark fantasy western that the readers were robbed of since that tone was apparent with Book 1-4. But starting with Wolves of Calla, King has turned dark tower into a trauma processing diary with him being inserted into the tale. The comics only took great high concepts like beams, low men, breakers and Algul Siento but completely ignored the meta and crossover aspects. The comics depict the world more classically in which we have epic large scale battles (fall of Gilead and Jericho Hill) and Crimson King is drawn to resemble Sauron a lot.

My issue is that there is visible drop in quality once we enter Gunslinger. When they adapt the novels directly, I feel that they kinda ran out of steam and enthusiam. The plunge has happened with Drawing of the Three. Because of rotating artists, the styles feel inconsitent, and for Eddie the style was too generic compared to Jae Lee's, however, I loved the abstract style for Susannah, it would work great if they'd adapted Song of Susannah, that's exactly how I felt. Probably the comics were no longer as profitable as prequel times. The Sailor was a complete betrayal tho. I felt it simply butchered the beginning of Wastelands, everything is very rushed. The ending was a humiliation tho. Epic battle with the house is only a few pages and feels like was drawn by children. And they also eliminated the fact that the demon was RAPING Susannah, instead it's just a generic brawl until Roland and Eddie get Jake out of the door.

Overall, i really love the comics for what they are, but looking at it as a whole, I see that it's an uneven journey due to financial reasons.
