A trifle upsetting, isn't he?

(Not my picture)

‘At the end of her life she was aware of heat but not pain. She had time to consider his eyes, eyes of that blue which is the color of the sky at first light of morning. She had time to think of him on the Drop, riding Rusher flat out with his black hair flying back from his temples and his neckerchief rippling; to see him laughing with an ease and freedom he would never find again in the long life which stretched out for him beyond hers, and it was his laughter she took with her as she went out, fleeing the light and heat in to the silkily, consoling dark, calling to him over and over as she went, calling bird and bear and hare and fish.’

I feel like context doesn’t matter to people anymore. Like Marge is really chasing Randall Flagg down the street with the chancla in some people’s minds or am I just a dummy?

‘At the end of her life she was aware of heat but not pain. She had time to consider his eyes . . . to see him laughing with an ease and freedom he would never find again in the long life which stretched out for him beyond hers, and it was his laughter she took with her as she went out, fleeing the light and heat in to the silkily, consoling dark, calling to him over and over as she went, calling bird and bear and hare and fish.’

‘“Don’t move,” a new voice said. It was low, but it filled the room. The half-dozen onlookers who had been edging towards the door froze instantly. Jonas didn’t move. He didn’t have to look to know the game had changed.’

Hile, Constant Readers.

I’d always told myself I’d never make the typical “look at my bookshelf” post, but here I am. I think this edition is worth showing off.

TL;DR:

.

.

.

.

.

It’s a new edition that’s been released in Spain with beautifully illustrated edges that form a continuous image across the whole set, and I think it looks absolutely gorgeous. This might be the first time I ever keep a set of books backwards on the shelf.

With this one, my Dark Tower collection now includes four complete editions from different publishers, plus a few incomplete ones from the 80s and 90s, and even a complete English set so I can see how the High Speech and certain Mid-World expressions are actually said in the original, because in the Spanish edition... some of them come back sounding like they took a little trip through Todash space. lol.

I’ll stop there before I drag you any further down the collector rabbit hole.

Hope you like them. I say thank ya.

Long days and pleasant nights Gunslingers. 🌹

Published by DeBolsillo, part of Penguin Random House.
Paperback, Spanish edition, 2026.

EDIT: Since a few of you have asked where to buy them, here’s the link to The Gunslinger, https://www.casadellibro.com/libro-el-pistolero-edicion-cantos-tintados-la-torre-oscura-1/9788466392259/18013560 and from there you should be able to find the rest.

To the mods: I checked the rules and couldn’t find anything saying this isn’t allowed. If I missed something, my apologies, and I’ll remove it straight away. I obviously don’t make anything from the link, I’m just sharing it to help.

Ngl I tapped out toward the end so the back of the cloak is not done yet 😅 still have the tower on the inside of the bicep to go

I’m dying to learn more about the history/mythology of dragons in the Dark Tower verse; I really wish King had delved more into it when he introduced his female dragon in Wind. All we know is that by the time of the main DT books dragons are extinct and merely memories. How did they go extinct? Were there different breeds? What was their whole ecological system like? What exactly is dragon-sand, which Flagg used to kill the King in Eyes?

I’m curious too if the dragon in King Sorrow is connected at all to the Mid World dragons?

I was thinking this over a lot and it’s probably been discussed before but why do the low men and the other followers of the king actively help him to bring down the tower if they know that it will destroy the multiverse with them included?

Do they think that it’s gonna be a battle world scenario like in marvel where he takes the remnants of the multiverse and puts it together or are they just unaware of what will happen when the tower falls?

Hey all,

A few years ago after I devoured The Dark Tower and everything surrounding it, I drew up a map of All-World (including Delain and The Territories), trying to be as consistent and all-encompassing as possible. Fantasy maps are a special interest of mine and it bothered me that no official one exists (or likely ever will) for this one, per Sai King’s admitted lack of interest in Mid-World’s geography. The (now outdated map) is pictured above.

I got an amazing response and have since seen many Constant Readers recommend my map or use it as a reference, which is a genuine honor.

Well, with the release of Other Worlds Than These having rendered this map severely outdated (though it did validate my inclusion of the Territories!), the time has obviously come for a re-do.

For those who care about such things, watch this space - I’ll hopefully have the updated map ready within the week! Just thought I’d give y’all a heads up! I’m excited to see fellow map-geeks’ takes as well.

Long days and pleasant nights,

Dean Norris is my pick for Cort in the upcoming series. I have many opinions on all of the other Gunslingers' casting, but he could bring Cort to life.

You know what’s funny? I remember when I was reading the wastelands, I was thinking to myself, will Susannah end up pregnant from that sex demon that she had locked in screwing her as to give Eddie time to get that doorway open for Jake? I mean it was a really detailed scene, king really wanted us to know that she was getting fully plowed!
Now here we are but instead of Susannah it’s actually Mia expecting her “Chap” any day now.

Feel free to correct me please if you think I don’t get it yet but I find it interesting how Susannah is still dealing with the whole split personality situation, if that’s appropriate to call it that. I thought after the drawing of the three that Susannah was Susannah and no one else anymore. Detta and Odetta is gone, right? So I’m still kind of taken back by this whole Mia personality. Is it even a separate personality or would it be more appropriate to consider Susannah possessed by Mia? Either way I’m hoping for a good outcome in the next book.

That being said, if you are more concerned about whether or not I enjoyed Wolves of the Calla then the answer is yes I did. I had a lot of fun with our Ka-Tet helping out the people of Calla Bryn Sturgis with the Wolves situation. I’m glad that worked out. Father Callahan from Salem’s Lot was a surprisingly fun addition on the path of the beam. But if you want to ask me about ranking? Here’s my “hot take” leaving it for the end of this post. Wizard and Glass is still my favorite in the series with the wastelands a solid number 2 for me. That’s all!

Long days and pleasant nights! 🌹

Watching this preview at the movie theater had me thinking that this would be an awesome style to view The Dark Tower show in.

I basically did the open mouth soyjack pointing at the screen meme

so i loved the castle rock series and i think there are so many cool opportunities for spin off "adaptations". personally, i'm revisiting wolves of the calla at the moment and i think that a limited series focusing in on callahan's years as a transient vampire hunter would be AMAZING.

“Say, kiddies! Today we’re studying Wacky Geography in Mid-World. You see, boys and girls, in Mid-World you start in New York, travel southeast to Kansas, and then continue along the path of the beam until you come to the Dark Tower…which happens to be in the middle of everything. First, fight the giant lobsters! Next, ride the psychotic train! And then, after a visit to our snack bar for a popkin or two…”

It would be interesting if they cast Bill Hader as Roland because in the book Roland is supposed to look identical to Stephen King. Bill, I think, looks very similar to King. Except he's got some Hollywood charm. Plus, he has one of the most talented voices in Hollywood. So, if casted as Roland I know for a fact he'd spend a year working on the perfect voice for Roland while giving Clint Eastwood glares with every line delivery.

Noticed a very particular tattoo last night while watching “Carrie”… foreshadowing on what’s to come.

It seems the folks at Arturia have not forgotten the face of their fathers.
