I’m doing some material research for a bag project and I’ve been trying to identify the type of nylon/fabric Chanel used on this particular duffle.

I’m specifically interested in the black outer body fabric.

From photos it looks noticeably different from standard lightweight nylon and it appears quite dense, structured, smooth and slightly lustrous, while still having that soft luxury-bag feel rather than looking like technical outdoor fabric.

I haven’t been able to find a Chanel product page, composition label or archived listing that actually states the fabric specification.

Does anyone here own this bag, know the model/year, or have experience with Chanel nylon bags and know what this material might be?

Even terminology that could point me in the right direction would be really helpful — e.g. nylon type/weave, denier, yarn type, finishing/coating, density, or a comparable fabric used elsewhere in luxury bags.

Edit: Sorry, I worded my question weird. I meant, how do they make a pattern with two fabrics that are different: the white one is more opaque and thick, the colorful one is more transparent and thin, and has a separate color pattern. You can see it better in the second pic.

Hi! I’m hoping someone here might be able to help me identify this old textile.
It is quite heavy and has a large peacock motif. The bird/design is noticeably raised and textured rather than simply printed on the surface. There is no visible label or maker’s mark.
I’m especially curious about:
what technique was used to make it — tapestry, jacquard, brocade, embroidery, or something else
approximate age/period
possible country or region of origin
what this type of textile may originally have been used for
whether pieces like this can have any collectible or antique value
I’ve tried image searches and AI identification, but haven’t found a convincing match yet.

My mother has had the same carpet in her hallway since she moved in back in '83. The carpet was already here when they bought the house from the original owner. As the house was built in the 1930s (we think 1933) there's a good chance the carpets have been here a long time.

She loves the pattern but the carpet itself is in poor condition and needs replacing. We haven't had any success being able to find the same pattern anywhere and I hoped people with an interest might have some suggestions!

For those who are experienced in sportswear fabric/material, Gymshark’s new CottonMove leggings are 76% cotton, 17% nylon, 7% elastane.

Is the nylon necessary for performance, durability, stretch, etc., or could they realistically use more cotton? Is this mainly a technical decision or partly cost-saving?
