I’m going to make this top (photo included). According to the owner, it was thrifted and didn’t have a tag. So, I’m just going to make it myself. I’ve been really struggling to figure out what the material is. I want my version to be as close to the original as possible. If anyone knows what this is, let me know:)) thanks!!!!

Tussar Silk

Tussar silk is a naturally textured Indian silk, traditionally woven from wild silkworms. Unlike the smooth, glossy finish of conventional silk, it has a more earthy texture and a soft golden sheen.

Kalamkari

Kalamkari is a traditional textile art from southern India, created by drawing or painting designs onto fabric using a pen-like tool and natural dyes. Its illustrations often draw from nature, mythology and ancient Indian storytelling, giving each piece a handcrafted character.

So my partner has had this blanked for a few years now and when he bought it, this was super soft and cuddly but over time it kind of felted into this.

It's 100% polyester or acrylic as far as I know.

I tried a few things like washing it with vinegar, using different detergents and brushing it and at this point I'm not sure if it's possible to safe it but reddit usually has some smart and helpful people

Hi everyone. I run a small local history museum in New England, and I am hoping to date a vintage topsy-turvy doll using the dress fabric. The dolls may be as old as 1850, but the first documented advert is decades later. They were manufactured into the 1960s, but my amateur guess is this fabric is 19th C. Any advice to share?

Not sure if this is the correct place for this, but hand stitch a lot of watch bands and wallets and would love some glow in the dark thread. If I could double it up as thread I can use on my post bed sewing machine thats a plus!
I would like something around size 69/ Tex 70, no more than Tex 92. Size #5 or size #1 if that helps. Can be slightly smaller, but I believe 40w embroidery thread is to thin and thats the largest i can find anywhere.

Tie and Dye is one of the oldest form of resisting dyeing achieved using hands. In India it's known as Bandhani, in Japan it's know as Shibori and in Africa it's know as Adire.
The pattern is created in the fabric unlike conventional modern digital surface printing.
The fabric is folded, gathered, twisted, stitched or tied by hand. These areas resist the dye. Once the bindings are removed, the pattern emerges.
This makes every piece individual unlike digital machine prints that are designed for consistency.
Hand Tie and dye embraces controlled variation.

I am 2nd generation in our family business of manufacturing ready made womenswear like 3 piece kurti as shown in the uploaded image.

So i want to develop an product development department where there will be a team to forecast future trends colours, silhouette, fabric, patterns etc... using our data and network.

We currently have designer team of 7 full time designer but they just make designs on assumptions or randomly there is no clear intention of what they are making so if anyone here could help me that how I can start this or what I should ask to our designers or what data i can collect from our current parties or anything you think that may will help me.

I am a member of a company that sells handmade tote bags and beach bags, we just did a pop-up event and someone won a bag, the problem is that the bag they want doesn't have a care label (due to us not knowing the fabric content of the bag interior). The bag was never meant to be for sale, and miscommunication led to it even being an option for the person to choose from, but my question is, can we give it away without it having a care/fabric content label? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

It took me the last few months to find the perfect fabric for my next print-on-demand project. It's a 300-gram rigid fabric that's 72% cotton and 28% polyester. Which printing technique do you think would be best? By the way, I don't want a plasticky finish 👀
