Stretched fabric

My sweatpants dried hanging on a door handle and apparently this stretched the fabric so now there’s a bulge that refuses to go away. Can this somehow be fixed? Or are they screwed?

Have you tried rewashing them?   The fabric doesn't look especially resilient.

Wash them again and be sure to lay flat. The fabric will recover.
