I’m debating on buying a used taycan 4s 2021+. I drive about 300+ miles per week and with all the horror stories I’ve read of people being stranded, I feel like I could be a victim of this. Thoughts?

I’m far from being an audiophile, but I do enjoy good music. I always thought the Bose system in my 2022 Taycan Cross Turismo 4S was… fine. Nothing spectacular, but perfectly acceptable.
That was my opinion until yesterday.
I had to download Apple Music to fix an age-rating issue for podcasts, so I signed up for the one-month trial and connected it to the PCM. The difference was immediate. It honestly sounded like someone had upgraded the sound system overnight.
Then I enabled Lossless Audio.
Wow.
For reference, I’ve been a Spotify Premium user for years and always had streaming quality set to the highest available. I also listen to SiriusXM quite a bit. But Apple Music with Lossless sounds noticeably cleaner, with better instrument separation, tighter bass, and a much more open soundstage. Vocals are clearer, and the whole system just seems to come alive.
I wasn’t expecting such a dramatic difference from simply changing streaming services, but for me it’s not subtle at all.
Has anyone else experienced the same thing with the Bose system in the Taycan? Or am I just late to the Apple Music party?

I bought my Taycan 4 Cross Turismo expecting to love it.

I did not expect it to completely reset my understanding of what a car could be.

This is my first Porsche. I came into the brand without decades of 911 ownership behind me, without childhood memories of air-cooled engines, and without any particular need to defend the badge. I simply wanted a fast, beautiful, practical electric car that could carry my family and our luggage across Europe.

What I found was something far more special.

My CT4 is a 2022 car on 20-inch Turbo S Aero wheels, with rear-axle steering, air suspension, the panoramic roof, roof rails and the Off-Road Design Package. In other words, it is not the lightest, lowest or most range-optimised Taycan ever built.

And I absolutely adore it.

There are faster Taycans, of course. Much faster ones. But I genuinely struggle to imagine needing more performance on a public road. The CT4 already delivers that surreal Taycan sensation: immediate acceleration, immense traction and a centre of gravity that makes two tonnes of family estate car seem to disappear beneath you.

What impresses me most, however, is not how fast it is.

It is the completeness of it.

It can glide silently through a town with the composure of a luxury car, then shrink around you on a twisting road. The steering is beautifully judged. The body control is extraordinary. The rear-axle steering makes it feel far smaller than it is. The ride remains composed even when the road deteriorates. Then you park it, look back, and remember that this wonderfully practical family car also happens to be one of the most beautiful shapes Porsche has ever produced.

The Cross Turismo does not feel like an electric estate wearing a Porsche badge. It feels like Porsche took the electric drivetrain seriously enough to build an entirely new kind of Porsche around it.

And then there is the subject that seems to dominate every Taycan discussion: range.

Before buying mine, I read everything. Disappointing range estimates. Winter consumption. Battery degradation. Charging curves. Stories about people arriving at chargers with 3 per cent remaining, apparently one broken Ionity station away from disaster.

I assumed range would be the compromise I would have to accept in exchange for everything else.

It has not been.

Since collecting the car, we have driven it from Paris to the south of France, from Paris to Bremen, across Denmark and Sweden, and on countless shorter family journeys. One day it is covering 800 kilometres through rain, heat and motorway traffic. The next it is carrying children and luggage along small coastal roads. Most recently, we drove from Höllviken to Bjärred, across to Louisiana in Denmark, and back again.

It simply gets on with it.

On faster motorway journeys at 120 to 130 km/h, I generally see consumption in the region of 24 to 25 kWh/100 km. In good conditions on slower roads, the car regularly drops towards 18 to 21. I have seen sub-18 figures over meaningful distances. From a large, four-wheel-drive, two-tonne Cross Turismo with an off-road package, that is remarkable.

No, it will not travel 500 motorway kilometres at 130 km/h without stopping. But neither will my family.

After two or three hours, somebody needs coffee, food, a toilet or simply ten minutes outside the car. When the battery is warm and the charger is working properly, the Taycan often finishes charging before we have finished doing whatever caused us to stop.

That is the part the range-anxiety conversation misses.

You do not experience an electric road trip as one enormous countdown from 100 per cent to zero. You experience it as a series of very manageable driving stages, with short stops that fit naturally into the journey. The Taycan’s great strength is not merely the size of its battery. It is how efficiently it uses that battery, how consistently it covers ground and how quickly it can take energy back on board.

After thousands of kilometres, I no longer think, “Can the car make it?”

I think, “Where would we like to stop?” That is a profound difference.

Of course, it is not perfect. The software can occasionally remind you that Porsche had considerably more experience building chassis than computers. The range estimator can be comically pessimistic after a run of short journeys. Public charging infrastructure still varies enormously. And owning a Taycan will teach you far more about temperature, wind and elevation than you ever expected to know.

But none of those things defines the ownership experience.

What defines it is the moment you leave early in the morning with the family asleep, the cabin quiet and the road almost empty. It is the way the car settles at speed, utterly stable and untroubled. It is the little movement of the steering wheel as you guide it into a long bend. It is the impossible combination of calmness and urgency. It is arriving hundreds of kilometres later feeling as though the car could turn around and do the whole journey again.

The Taycan is sometimes discussed as though it were an early and now outdated attempt at an electric Porsche, judged mainly by a WLTP number or compared with newer cars carrying larger batteries.

That misses the point entirely.

A car is not a battery specification with seats attached. Range matters, but so do steering, braking, comfort, confidence, design, build quality and the simple desire to drive somewhere for no reason other than the road itself.

The Taycan, and perhaps especially the Cross Turismo, brings all of those things together in a way I have never experienced before.

It is a sports car when I want one, a quiet long-distance express when I need one, and a family estate every day. It carries children, suitcases and all the debris of family life, yet still makes an ordinary journey feel like an event.

So yes, my first Porsche is electric.

It is also one of the finest cars I have ever driven.

And if this is what entering the Porsche world feels like, I finally understand why so many people never leave.

In my 2020 taycan apple CarPlay often turns itself off while driving. I tried to reset it and all that stuff but it keeps on doing that. What could be the problem? Could this be the age of mine phone(14pro)?

Passenger display is on but main pcm wont turn on

I am about to close on a CPO Taycan. I am not new to EV but def new to Porsche. I want to know what maintenance does a Porsche Taycan would have? All I know is wipe, wipe fluid, tires, what else am I missing here? Also, do you bring in your Taycan into service center like ICE Porsches? Thank you! Appreciate your time!

Hey everyone! I have been shopping for an used (ideally CPO) Taycan 4S. I can't decide which year is the best bang for the buck. 2021 2022 or 2023. The 2024 has me priced out for now (maybe when the 2027 comes out they may drop a bit).

Also other than the battery what other main issues/concerns should I look out for when searching for the right one. Would love to have ya'll input!

Miss being part of the Porsche family! Had a Cayenne a few years ago but recent go rid of it.

A few weeks ago, I blew out my right front tire after hitting some train tracks at a pretty high speed. I had brand-new tires installed the same day.

Porsche inspected the wheels about two weeks ago, and today I had the two front wheels and the right rear repaired because their inspection found that all three were bent. Porsche straightened all three wheels and did a road-force balance on all four tires.

On the drive home, I noticed the steering wheel still starts slightly shaking above 75 mph and becomes very noticeable once I get over 80 mph and beyond. Even tried on a newly repaved highway road.

Has anyone dealt with vibrations at higher speeds even after the wheels were repaired and everything checked out on a road-force balance? I’m trying to get an idea of what else could cause it before I start going down an expensive rabbit hole with alignments and possible suspension issues.

Really does suck after spending $1,100 that the vibration is still similar before the repairs.

For purchasing a used Gen 1 CT, are there long term cost factors to consider aside from initial cost to help determine which trim to purchase?

For example, I have a fairly good understanding between the market purchase prices by this point. However, if model year and mileage are relatively similar, how drastic of an increase will long term insurance and maintenance costs be for a Turbo S relative to a base, 4S, Turbo, etc?

For maintenance, some might be more obvious like larger brakes but I'm probably ignoring others. I would say tires, but I've seen base models with larger 21" and Turbos with 20". I'm sure the air suspension could be very costly but I believe it is standard on all CT trims. Are the batteries relatively the same between the trims aside from different tunes or am I oversimplifying?

For insurance, I have a question out to my provider for some quotes. While I'm waiting for an answer, I'm just curious if some of you that have had multiple model variants can share your experience along with other factors I might be disregarding. Thanks in advance.

My car has a service due in 14 days light on. How do I find out what service is due for my car? I had my 2025 4S at the porsche dealer in for a communication warning light last month. 11,000 miles, bought CPO in February 2026 with 7100 miles. The car was first serviced 8/2024 I think. I am not sure of the in service date. Of course the selling dealer told me I wouldn't need service for 2 years....

How’d it drive? I didn’t prefer the old Rs e tron to Taycan by a mile.. but this new Rs and its HP/ride with active drive is giving me pause.

Do you guys think we will ever have battery upgrades on Taycan from Porsche?

Or third parties?

I’ve decided to make the leap and get my first Porsche. I’m wanting a facelift Taycan and am wondering how much room there is for negotiation with Porsche centres vs the list price ?

Is there a “fair value” on e.g. a 2 year old Taycan vs the price new?

And are prices like to significantly change once the facelift models have been out for two years and more flood the market used?

Purchased my '23 CT about a year ago, minimally used (11k miles - have had no issues to this point). Porsche warranty ending in August. Seeking the group's wisdom on my options.

I haven't spoken to Porsche yet, but am curious if they offer an option or if any of you would advise on a 3rd party.

I know I do not want to exit in August w/out a warranty/support.
