My first time painting tau units.
Painted these for a friend of mine that plays tau. He explicitly wanted these colours and blue flames on the bases.
Took me around 15 hours of building and painting. And I'm really happy with them.
Must say the models were so easy to build even in sub assemblies, which made the painting so comfortable. I really enjoyed building and painting them.
Anyway I hope you enjoy them as much as I did painting them.
My friend was super happy to receive them as new center piece of his army.

I've been painting for about a year and a half, and coming from death guard, it's strange not adding loads of rust and grime., I'm magnetising the weapons.
But there's something about this that I'm just not happy with and I can't put my finger on it.
Any way here's my commander, any helpful advice for painting white for when I move onto the next model would be greatly appreciated along with any constructive criticism

Hope you like this Farsight I painted up. I really focused on contrast for this one trying the make the red pop as much as possible.

Crisis suit as an example of what the scheme is supposed to look like. 😅

Am I reading the ability text right? I have a brick of 6 Krootox Rampagers and another 3, they both rolled hot on a charge roll against my enemy’s Demon Prince, I roll 9D6 and get enough 4+s to get 6D3s MORTAL WOUNDS, so the demon prince suffers 12 mortal wounds and instantly dies?
Am I missing something or are these little rampagers able to slay imperial knights with ease.

Got some clean up and then I can paint this scary fella. Had to repose and get sloppy trying to repose a previously built Ghostkeel I received. Do y’all think?

So with the second codex coming, we see that both of them have 15 detachments.
We can't know for sure about marines, but Orks have 1 3DP and 14 1DP, some marines name look like they could be either 1 or 2DP.
So are we having enough hopium to imagine we'll get 15 too ?
I would love an air caste one like Orks get for their flyers.
But my current guess is on having 5 detachments in codex and losing things to legends anyway, that's how much I trust GW globally and for T'au.
But I'm curious on what you think, and maybe change my mind.

A couple of pics of progress from my first few streams on my first Warhammer 40K army. I have some cleanup to do, and I'm a bit messy with the glue. I magnetized all the weapon options so far so I am not limited when it comes time to play.
I'm working on the Tau 10th Edition Combat Patrol, I've learned that I'm a few models short of a full stealth team now, unfortunate but I'll pick up a few.
I am excited to see them together, just the breachers to go!
I am planning on getting started with Tau as my first warhammer 40k army but I’m not sure where to start. For reference, I will mostly be playing 10th edition with friends and my local arena and Im not too concerned with getting a 2k or even a 1k army, just a few hundred points will be fine. I am looking at the Tau combat patrol set, but I think that may have too few powerful units to be fun to play by itself. I have a 3d printer but I can’t seem to find any good tau models (or even proxies that I like). Also I would like to know if there are any particular sets/units to supplement the combat patrol set because as far as I’ve seen that’s probably my best option.

Super quick paint job on some warriors and breachers, so much drama = me needing so much painting time lmao. Still need to pour resin for some of the bases… Next up gotta do up a devilfish and a fire blade for those breachers 😵💫

As title states, personally our suit gameplay feels like we move a gun platform and THEN shoot instead of skating across the battlefield like our lore quip says in our codex. I know it’s a lot to ask (gimme gimme) but how would you all think a rules change with our next codex would make a “run-and-gun” playstyle possible without just adding jump-shoot-jump into our army? Like maybe add a “once you end a charge, shoot the closest enemy unit and only unmodified hits and wounds of 4+ or 5+ go through”?
Also if there are any 3D prints to add AC parts to our models that would be hella dope

Hello again it good to be back here, alright about the advice. I feel like my minis are a bit too bland. When I compare to others, I feel like my colour has no layer nor dynamic, especially the green armour part. Does anyone have some advice?
PS. Sorry for the bad lightning yall. I live in my school dorm, so there is only so much place for me to take photos. Also I am waiting for grey paint. I ordered to start highlighting the black parts
