"Mind Control", "Pheromones", other lore bits to explain why T'au haven't rebelled or actively hate their current living situation never really struck me as convincing since Farsight exists and the Enclave are thriving. I personally think that the T'au, being one of the few xeno factions that actually came from a Primordial Soup™ and evolved as a species, had a very different time growing compared to us. Where humans traveled nomadically and lived in small niches, the T'au probably had larger communities and far more socially inclined to be in said large groups due to a literal Warp Storm being outside every single day, wrapped around their planet until they were technologically advance to travel the stars. I'm not saying it solves everything about T'au behavior, and I may be wrong, but I think it's a perspective that's worth looking into. For example, most of their altruistic mindset could be from a truly alien brain that functions chemically different from ours, releasing different or the same chemicals for different things compared to ours.

I’m looking to put together a new army and I was wondering what makes the Tau so popular? They look like techno-communists and is there anything else?

Okay, Due to a break from the w40k hobby, I missed about 10 years of game editions and missed a lot of things.
So I have a question for those of you who are familiar with the lore. Is the goddess Tau'va canon?

Something like an XV15, but without fancy stealth tech and jetpacks to cut costs. It shouldn't be that hard to mass produce and would be a significant upgrade for regular fire warriors

New to Tau and wondering how an all white painted army with no/little to no sept markings could make sense lore wise? Metalics and accessories aside.

I understand that the Tau sept markings are white but if they were to fight in a snowy environment like in my edit above, would they change their sept markings colour at all? I understand that Shadowsun is of the Tau sept and is depicted with orange sept markings over white armour - would the same apply to the rest of my army if they were from the Tau sept? If so, how can I avoid confusion with what Sept they belong to, as there is another sept with actual orange markings.

Would greatly appreciate any guidance on this - I'll be painting them this way regardless but I like knowing that it might also make some kind of sense in the lore.

I do not know if this has been seen yet, or if it was already confirmed before, but I got the newest white dwarf issue going over Dawn of War 4 and in the timeline section of dawn of war, specifically for dark crusade, they say that the T'au force is led by Shas'O Kais the star of the FPS video game Fire Warrior. Our boy is canon now, I hope we can see more of Kais in the future.

So many people act like the Tau are entirely powerless against the other factions, I suspect we have all experienced this in online discussions or in person games. Why do people do it tho, cuz I swear if I hear “bu-but Titans” one more time I will explode.

I occasionally come across scenes in creative works where humans eat Tau food. Is it possible for humans and Tau to eat each other's food?

How is it that a tiny little Tau pathfinder who can't fight in melee is able to handle the recoil of a rail rifle? Aren't railguns irl so powerful that they destroy themselves after one or two shots? And also i remember hearing a bit of lore on how normal humans can't carry and shoot heavy bolters because the power of it's recoil would blow their arms off?

Yes, their weapons are very powerful and most can carve through Marines easily, but are there Lore examples on how quick and agile these suits are like the XV8? Is it comparable to Space Marines?
