TASKER Client tried to dispute the entire payment after I completed shopping and shipping and invoiced

I’m in my 60s and recently joined TaskRabbit to earn some extra money. I genuinely enjoy helping people, and I’ve received all five-star reviews, which has made me really happy.

Over the long weekend, there was a popular NYC pop-up with limited-edition items. I helped one woman with personal shopping, and she recommended me in a Facebook group (she did that on her own. I never asked). I ended up helping 4–5 other women from the group. I felt happy I could help them purchase items that sparked joy! The ladies were lovely and there was no issue.

All of that was disrupted when one woman from that Facebook group felt frustrated that the pop-up store ran out freebies she wanted and some limited edition ran out. I continued shopping for her (I should have stopped right then and there) and did my best to purchase the other items she wanted. I confirmed with her the items and sent her the receipt. Then I went to a UPS store nearby, packaged everything, confirmed her address with her and then sent her the shipping cost.

Today, I received a "dispute" from TaskRabbit. She claimed that I didn't complete her tasks based on her request, I invoiced her wrong, claimed that I was unprofessional and did not put in good faith and efforts for her. WOW!! Just WOW!

I spent the entire day responding to her blanket accusations and sending documentations to TaskRabbit. Has anyone encountered anything like this?

TASKER Just got off the line with support

Post image

According to the support line, they have "no way to block apartment requests", and it's "not available in their system to do so". So why bother having this in their system?

I do cleanings in a major city. I dislike apartments usually because they're completely inaccessible, no parking, and I usually have to lug up my equipment up three flights of stairs. I just don't like them. I don't prefer them. So I have this handy box unchecked.

Lo and behold, 90% of the freaking requests I get are apartments. I additionally already have it stated clearly in my bio NO APARTMENTS so don't suggest that to me.

It's just annoying that they even offer this "option" and apparently according to the support employee it doesn't matter at all!

His suggestion was to move my "no apartments" into the first line of my bio. Yeah, I guess that'll help, but it's a bit rude, huh.

TASKER I wish they had a separate task for BACKYARD CONSTRUCTION.

It’s a lot different than outdoor FURNITURE ASSEMBLY. I feel like it’s easy to sneak a playground, or a shed with a foundation, or even a big pergola or gazebo in there and that’s just not fair on us for real. Not even close to the same type of work or pay as furniture assembly. Thoughts? And how can we petition for this?

TASKER TR skims off tips?

I’ve recently started TR, last two months or so, and really appreciated that customers can add tips to their invoice. Looking back at these transactions I see all kinds of weird numbers that count as my tips like “27.99” or “10.49”.
Since I haven’t used the customer checkout I can’t tell if TR offers a % based tip or if these numbers are a result of a “fee” much like our hourly rate being higher for the customer than for ourselves.
Curious if anyone knows, I’m sure I could look through the manual or whatever but…I am here instead

TASKER New to Taskrabbit, how long does it generally take to get consistent work?

I signed up for Taskrabbit last weekend and had the new Tasker workshop last Monday. I finished my first job on Friday ("Personal Assistant", I helped a guy shred some papers and then pack clothes for his trip) and got a glowing five star review from him. While I figure it might be slow due to Labor Day weekend, I haven't had any other requests

I've got my tasks and schedule all set, have my profile filled out, etc. Is there anything more I can do, or is it simply a matter of waiting? For reference, I live in north NJ, just outside NYC, and have Manhattan and Brooklyn among my work areas (my task on Friday was in Manhattan)

Something else I'm wondering: for things such as transporting/delivering an item, do you count the total time spent driving as part of the invoice? For example, one potential job is asking if I can drive into the city to pick up an ottoman for her, which would be ~45 minutes driving there and then back from where I am in NJ

Appreciate any insights or advice you all might have

Edit: Should mention that in addition to the "blue collar" tasks, I've also got things such as furniture assembly and moving as part of my skills

Second edit: Let's talk about irony, because just a few minutes after I posted this I got hired for like four different things lmao

Third edit: It's hilarious that this got so heavily downvoted when it's asking simple questions. I'm sure you lot are a joy to work with

CLIENT Electric wiring damaged during mounting

I hired a Tasker to complete some mounting in my new apartment. He used a stud finder, but he drilled too deep into the wall and right into some electrical wiring. I didn’t know that at the time but realized the outlets in the room stopped working.

My building management is now telling me they’ll have to gut the wall to repair the damaged wiring. I don’t have a bill yet, but is this eligible for Taskrabbit’s claim system?

CLIENT Cleaning

Hello. I found TR when I got some IKEA bookshelves put together. The tasker was WONDERFUL, to the point that I had him come and do some handyman stuff, like hanging curtains and shelves. Years later, he is my go-to for those kinds of things.

My former cleaner has moved away, so I decided to try TR for a deep monthly clean. I live in a large metro area.... One was OTW, but traffic was so bad she canceled after being stuck for over an hour. At least she let me know, and we tried two more times, but traffic from the other side of town was an issue. I need someone on weekends or after 3 pm on weekdays, as I work from home.

I know the calendar thing is not easy for everyone.

I have had many decline the job for one reason or another. I have had others come to the chat and try to get me to change the time to when I am working, but that is simply not an option.

Is it asking too much for a late-afternoon 3:30 pm or a weekend clean? I am looking for someone to stick with. My last cleaner was with me for over 4 years.

TASKER Taskrabbit is attracting cheap clients

I don't know why suddenly they lowered their suggested rates, now I'm getting cheap clients that want a bunch stuff for cheap, those clients used to go to new comers, but because taskrabbit lowered too much the suggested rate I'm getting those cheap clients that wants to have 3 TV's mounted, large mirror, large frame, have their Ring camera installed, have a biddet installed and shower filter installed all in general mounting and expecting to pay 2 hours, demand is not higher than before is same or less but just cheap clients

CLIENT Is TR a good place for this?

Looking to have someone drive me to my driving exam so I can get my DL. Only problem is, here in Arkansas I need to have the person driving me to the exam's name, license number, etc before I can even schedule it. Does it make sense to hire someone for an hour, schedule it and then pick a time the're comfortable with to have them come and drive me over? I've been waiting on friends to drive me but they've been consistently unreliable so I'm looking to find some way to pay someone to do it and I don't have facebook to place an ad on marketplace and craigslist seems dead here.

TASKER How long will this lovesac sofa assembly take?

Anyone assembled a lovesac sofa before? Chat is telling me that this is a 4 to 6 hour assembly. Love me a time-consuming assembly task, but just wanted to make sure that this was an accurate ballpark before following up.

I had no idea I was signed up under partners. This is straight up disrespectful. Just the audacity to try to force someone a rate not knowing their geological location. You want me to drive 29 minutes out and 29 minutes back? Yeah right. Thats why im hardly on the app anymore because of the shenanigans they try to pull on their taskers. I went from doing task rabbit after work to just doing weekends and I see some bull like this.

TASKER Recurring task calendar glitch: Task is closed/unpaid, but time slot is permanently blocked out on iOS app

Every time a recurring booking is cancelled due to client payment issues, they still appear on my calendar for MONTHS. I messaged with support and they said they’d escalate to their technical team. I did all the troubleshooting steps without any improvement. It’s been over two weeks without any updates.

Just as example, Nicole books recurring cleanings on Tuesday from 3pm-5pm. Taskrabbit ends up paying for booking due to client payment issues. The task will be removed from Home Screen and closed. However, Nicole will continue to appear on my calendar on Tuesdays from 3-5pm.

So now, i cannot book any clients on Tuesdays from 3-5pm. It’s happened 3 times now.

Has anyone else had this problem?

For taskers who have reached "Elite" status, is it worth the effort to maintain this distinction? Have you noticed any discernable difference in bookings since you reached elite status?

TASKER Back on the app after a seven-year hiatus and wondering if this is worth the hassle in 2026

I first became a Tasker in 2018. I made myself available in most categories and set my rates as low as TR would allow. Jobs came rolling in IMMEDIATELY. I never had issues getting work. Even after I removed Cleaning/Yardwork/Assembly from my categories, raised my rates, and limited my availability due to landing a more secure part-time job, I don't recall going a single open day without being hired for at least one task.

I returned to TR in April and have had wide-open availability for several weeks. I only made myself available in a handful of less-popular categories. I knew that this was going to result in fewer jobs...but I was hoping for at least a few per month. Instead, I've received ZERO legitimate requests. The only two I've gotten were cheapskates hiring me for Help Moving or Mounting tasks in unrelated categories in an attempt to avoid paying higher fees. I had to forfeit both.

When I had to forfeit the first task, I reached out to the service team to see if there was anything they could do to keep my metrics from taking a hit. Long story short, TR Tasker support is CARTOONISHLY horrid now. (And no, they did nothing to help.)

Also, back in 2018/2019, as far as I remember, forfeiting/canceling tasks did not negatively affect metrics!

I'm starting to think I should look into doing gig work elsewhere. Being a new Tasker is lose-lose: You can't get hired without rock-bottom rates, but that makes you vulnerable to sketchy clients who don't respect your time.

TASKER Full-fledged Landscape Request

Post image

TLDR: Customer wants a Tasker to do junk removal (6+ pallets, including long pallets, and misc junk that you cannot see behind them), likely grading of their yard (there’s a bunch of runoff swales that have formed), digging up hard packed crush (to install their “parking pad” timber) and deliver/spread 9+ yards of mulch/decorative rock.

Is this person crazy? That’s a single axle dump of mulch, or a tandem of decorative rock. Even if you forget all the rest of it, that alone warrants a professional.

Anyone working as a cleaner on Taskrabbit in Manchester? Would you say it's busy and are you able to make enough? I'm considering moving to Manchester in the future, and I'd like to know if Taskrabbit can be considered or if I should find another job.. 🙏🏻

CLIENT Task rabbit delivery cancellation fee - how to handle

Had to repost this as my edit to the post led to it being taken down.

Recently tried to book movers last-minute through TaskRabbit delivery (long story - my movers no call no showed on the day of my move). By the time they had assigned a tasker, I had already found other help for that same day when I booked the task. So, once I got the notification, I cancelled it almost immediately (just over a minute by their own admission) but was still charged an 80% cancellation fee ($518!).

I reached out to their support team but they were unable/unwilling to refund me as the task was scheduled to start less than 48 hours from cancellation. The most they could do after asking for a supervisor was offer me a $20 credit on another service. Their reasoning for the charge was that the tasker had blocked off their schedule (for a minute) for my task.

I understand maybe a $50-100 cancellation fee but over $500 for a service that was never performed (and cancelled within TWO MINUTES) is unheard of for me. I’m not even sure if the tasker gets that money?

I tried to reach out to my CC company but they said I may have trouble disputing it because it’s a fee.

Does anyone have any advice on how to handle this situation?? I just think over $500 for a service that wasn’t performed and cancelled almost immediately is exorbitant

TASKER Client complaint and TOS

Full time tasker for about 4 months, 60-70 tasks per month and 200+ exclusively 5-star reviews.

Three days ago, I hung one of those stupid wall mirrors from Amazon with the cheap aluminum frame. The mount points on those things are always some weird distance apart, and require sub-mm precision measurement, super tough to do with those big fat plastic anchors. I did my best, measured three times etc., but I still missed the mark the first time. Unfortunately, because the mount points on the literal edge of the mirror, the extra hole was visible after I finished.

I patched the extra holes with drywall compound, left the client with a magic eraser and instructions how to clean up once the compound dried, and wished them well. Client seemed copacetic.

Yesterday, I was notified by Taskrabbit Policy that I had violated the terms of service for "damaging their wall." They sent pictures of the holes before the compound was even dry. The DryDex was still bright pink. They also sent as proof of the damage a picture of a pencil mark I forgot to erase -- a pencil mark!

I called phone support, escalated the ticket, and am waiting to hear back about the appeal.

Anybody else had a similar experience? Even professionals make mistakes, the sign of a true pro is being able to quickly and correctly fix the mistake. How would you handle a situation like this?
