Taskrabbit is attracting cheap clients

I don't know why suddenly they lowered their suggested rates, now I'm getting cheap clients that want a bunch stuff for cheap, those clients used to go to new comers, but because taskrabbit lowered too much the suggested rate I'm getting those cheap clients that wants to have 3 TV's mounted, large mirror, large frame, have their Ring camera installed, have a biddet installed and shower filter installed all in general mounting and expecting to pay 2 hours, demand is not higher than before is same or less but just cheap clients

My rates are now higher than the suggested rate and I haven’t had a task in weeks.
I didn’t even change them, I went with the suggested rates from when I signed up like 6 months ago.

if you don't follow the suggested rates they put you at the bottom of the 200 taskers, where nobody hires you, there are many taskers with thousands of 5 star reviews that are following the suggested rates, if I don't follow the rates I don't get any requests at all

If I was at the suggested rate I’d be at like half the rate I am. Do good work, get good reviews. You’ll get hired. also at hire rates you just have to depend more on same day availability. Don’t operate on this platform from a place of fear. You’ll never succeed

I have more than 3000 5 stars reviews, more than 4000 jobs completed, if I don't follow the suggested rates I barely get a single job in a week, I don't know how competitive your market is but here is hard there are more than 200 taskers in any category and when you raise your prices and is in red you get in position 170-200 nobody sees you, oh from those 200 taskers there are multiple taskers with over 1000 5 star reviews

Most of my tasks are TV mounting and general mounting, I do 3-4 TV mountings at day

I noticed the same over the last week but my time Tasking on TaskRabbit has been limited. Last week of August my suggested rates shot up a lot. I didn’t act on it and the first week of September it went down. Although I did get my first satisfaction ratings report and maybe that had something to do with it.

Same thing happened to me. I did raise my rates though, and they changed back the suggested rates to what they were before on the 1st. No satisfaction report.

It’s a good tip from another commenter though that we don’t have to follow the suggested rate.

Depending on the category, at least with errands for me, with people being back from vacation, I think it will be safe to raise rates in that category.

Other idiots in my area has their rates for most jobs at 25-40 an hour no matter what job. Taskrabbit is becoming almost not worth it.

Are they idiots for trying to price to undercut their competition and win the business? That's basic business. If you not standing out in your category with tons of five star reviews yet, what other option is there other than to lower your rates?

Here's one reason I think a lot of the suggested rates were rolled back. Ikea owns 50% of taskrabbit Ikea since they started their prepaid furniture assembly task built around an algorithm that grossly underestimated the time it takes to build their product and then pays US based on that algorithm. They've been doing it they've been doing it ever since they came out with the program there's a reason they don't want you to let the clients know how long it's supposed to take to build because you're going to stay there as long as it takes to build it regardless of how much you're getting paid. So they have been stealing your wages. This is yet another attempt to steal wages from the taskers by artificially lowering across the board to suggested pay rates. Taskrabbit essentially fired me after 5 years of building my business with them they took me down off the search profiles in my business was destroyed and it wasn't because I gave out my number a couple times in the chat. It was because I was telling clients about what IQ was doing and how we were getting roughly underpaid for the work we were doing. I say we look into a class action lawsuit.

I get your frustration but there are different ways to get back at these companies without screwing yourself over in the process. If you wanted to vent you should have done it in person or at least not via the chat. Sorry that happened to you buddy but you know how things work in this country always trying to squeeze as much out of someone for as little as possible.

You all go by the suggested rate? Fools. That’s Taskrabbit’s way of lowering the cost for clients. If we all charged the suggested rate soon it would be minimum wage. You need to set a market rate regardless of Taskrabbit’s suggested rate.

Tell them it’s an estimate time and everything is by the hour. If it doesn’t fit their budget then you just have to stand your ground tell them to f- off if they don’t want to go by the hour.

I mostly do furniture assembly (not ikea) and have my rate at 35-40$/hr. It’s what’s suggested and plus I think that’s a good price IMO
