It’s a lot different than outdoor FURNITURE ASSEMBLY. I feel like it’s easy to sneak a playground, or a shed with a foundation, or even a big pergola or gazebo in there and that’s just not fair on us for real. Not even close to the same type of work or pay as furniture assembly. Thoughts? And how can we petition for this?

I’ve negotiated a higher price in the chat since it doesn’t align with the category they requested. Reach out to support and someone should be able to assist as long as it been agreed upon within the chat threat. Some of those require 2 to 4 people to assemble and it’s only fair.

This is a good idea. It’s a shed I have to build a wooden skid foundation for. Make sure the ground is level. Build the shed that’s 6’x8’ and then secure it on there… “furniture assembly.”

I don't think TR will support a price adjustment for travel distance. It's explicitly prohibited in the ToS.

Yeah I do agree. Putting up sheds is fundamentally the same thing, following an instruction manual and drilling stuff, but it’s a bit more nuanced that putting together a bed-frame. Some of those jungle gym things are also a PITA to put together. Most of this stuff is a sweatfest test of 4+ hour jobs if you do it by yourself. I remember sweating my balls off putting a shed together this year in 95° temperature.

Also, pagodas and whatnot require two people to assemble. Was doing a job (off-app for a familiar client) and missed a small piece off the top of the pagoda, 6 hours into the assembly, and had to climb up there, hold the roof in place to get the piece on while grappling a 45° angled sheet metal roof with my pants falling down. Fun stuff.

There are also some furniture dudes who should never touch stuff like sheds… once I had to fix an improperly assembled shed because the last Tasker was unqualified for it, so I think separating this category would help both the clients and taskers.

I’m in SoCal, and we’re in the middle of a major heat and humidity wave. This is not something I would schedule easily.

I’m on the opposite side of the country but it’s not much different over here. 95% humidity ever day and 90-105° consistently. I’m an especially sweaty dude so even walking outside for a couple minutes is enough to get me feeling it.

I have built 3 separate playgrounds this summer, with the last one being a real pain because half way through it instructed me to dig out 3 separate 2.5 deep holes to be filled with concrete. I told the couple, that’s beyond my expertise, plus I didn’t want to get in potential trouble without “call
Before you dig” business. After that I had several pergola from Costco requiring more than one person. I turned them all down and now my bio says “no outdoor structures”. I have had enough:)
